Dear Hitman fans,

We wanted to share this open letter with all of you out there eagerly awaiting more news about what’s happening next in the franchise.

At Io-Interactive right now, we are building the next AAA Hitman game for PC and next-gen consoles. It has our total focus and we wanted to take a moment to tell you a few things about it.

In the next game you will experience a globetrotting Agent 47 at the prime of his career – the apex predator stalking his prey across the world, with the support of his long-term handler Diana Burnwood and the whole of the ICA.

The game concentrates on the core Hitman fantasy of using a wide range of tools to take out a diverse group of targets across expansive, exotic locations around the world. We are building this game on the backbone of the Glacier 2 engine, using the best parts and what we have learnt through Hitman: Absolution and drawing inspiration from past titles like Contracts and Blood Money to fulfil the core Hitman fantasy. That means we’re packing in an extreme level of detail on the largest levels we have ever built for a Hitman game. We’ve adopted an open, non-linear level design approach to the game, ensuring the game will play out across huge, checkpoint-free, sandbox levels. Our aim is to create living, breathing and believable levels which will allow gamers to play around with the AI to create those unique moments every fan of the Hitman franchise loves.

Contracts Mode is back – you will be able to create and build challenges by experimenting with the large levels and possibilities within them. And of course, you can share them with the world and challenge your friends or foes to complete your hits. Your rules, your Contracts.

You will also be glad to hear that we have removed 47’s magic pockets. We believe that’s all we need to say about that subject.

As we get further into 2014, we will reveal more and get into much closer contact with all of you. There are so many things we have planned and we are extremely excited for the future of Hitman.

Thank you all for your dedication. We will share much, much more in the coming months.

The Io-Interactive Team

They might have gotten the message, folks. I liked Absolution alright for what it was but... I want what's being promised here in a bad way. :)

they said the same thing about Absolution...looking forward to a good Hitman game but am more pessimistic after the last one...will take a wait and see approach...same with any new Alien game or Thief or Resident Evil etc etc

I agree. The mass layoffs we saw in the wake of Absolution would tend to make me think someone may have gotten a wake up call somewhere, though. We shall see.

I hope they rework the stealth system. Got kinda lame when you were detected in 5 seconds by people with similar uniforms. That bothered me too much, so I didn't even get past the hotel mission.

I thought the last Hitman didn't make any money? Wish them the best, its still a recognizable franchise.

Ewwwwww man that movie is going to be worst then the first one what a horrible choice to replace Paul Walker with that snore.

Cautiously optimistic, though I did enjoy Absolution for the most part. I think they need to go back to the drawing board regarding stealth and disguises, though. They've never really quite been able to get it right, it feels like.

I just couldn't get into the last Hitman game. I haven't played any of the other ones. Although there are lots of playstyles, the game seems to penalize you for anything other than boring stealth gameplay. Same problem with Dishonored IMO.

To me, AC4 seems like a fun version of Hitman :p

Ehm..not sure if srs or not. Stealth is the main focus for Hitman and Dishonored..what did you expect?

I did kill everyone I possibly could in Dishonored though, it was especially fun when you get the perk that makes the bodies disappear after you kill em. Kill all the NPC's! :D

They need to rework the whole disguise thing.

I mean it makes NO sense that just because you dress in one uniform EVERYONE wearing that uniform would somehow know you are not what you say you are.

Like in the first level, all those people running around how would they know every single person there?

Since Hitman: Absolution was the cheap, dodgy, no-name knock-off version of Splinter Cell Conviction, I have zero interest in this game. IO Interactive isn't capable of making good games anymore.

Yeah, definitely. They need a balance, somewhere between "nonsense where a disguise makes you totally invisible to everyone" and "everyone with the same uniform immediately knows who you are". Maybe just make it so you are more or less invisible, but if you get too close to (certain?) enemies they will notice that you don't belong. I'm not really sure what the best balance is.

I think they could do it better.

Incorporate a dialogue check system into it where if you come across another character who would logically have a "connection" to your disguise (IE you put on a chef costume, the kitchen staff would take notice of you).

When you come across someone belonging to this staff instead of them either ignoring you like you are invisible or outright seeing through your disguise they instead ask you questions.

You can then lie/intimidate/bribe to get through it but if you don't bribe them and they see you again they might figure it out/tell someone else about a "suspicious" person.

To me a system like that would be a lot more logical and fitting and make the world more believable.

Was the movie really that successful? I didn't think it was all that great.

Domestic: $39,687,694 39.7%
+ Foreign: $60,278,098 60.3%
= Worldwide: $99,965,792

Well it was a matter of time, but here comes Plagued. How are you buddy? :D

For seriousness though, I'm always pumped up, but I hope they deliver.

Say what. Conviction is a dumbass nonsense shooter with builtin aimbot/wallhack that also ruined the story of sam fischer. Absolution has way more depth even though it has more on rails level design than classic hitman games and still stayed true as a sequel in spirit. What a far out comment.

Very much looking forward to the next hitman. It's like reading a good book every time. Confident the next one will be good too

No wimp lasers or super powers this time. No x-ray vision. We get back to meat and potatoes where you have to use skill. ;)

:D
