one of my sig 560ti is dead, one fan on the other card is dead, both cards are out of warranty. a local shop has refurbished GeForce GTX 570 HD cards @ $139 each, so for $280 what is out there that would beat or equal SLI gtx 570's? @ 1080p

Just get an ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5 and you will see a huge upgrade from your 560Ti. Don't go with SLI 570's or refurbished graphics cards.

I wouldn't recommend anything prior to the 600 series Nvidia cards unless you are using it for specific rendering purposes. Gaming and general use you should be looking at 600 or later series. Preferably 700 or later with the new Maxwells on the way.

Another vote for a 760... I went from a 260 to a 560 to a 760 2gig and it was the best move Ive made in quite some time.

The [H] has spoken, thank you all, 760 is on the list. on the other hand what would a $280ish AMD vid card get me?

Are you in the US? If so AMD isn't an option unless you go for the 210-220$ 270X which is much slower than the GTX 760. The 760 is a much better and faster card. 270X review:

As you can see. It is much slower than the GTX 760 and doesn't cost that much differently. Worse yet, it's merely a re-badge of the 7870 and costs more than the 7870 did (while the 7870 is end of life and can't be found) The big problem with AMD cards is they are all price inflated due to the crytpo coin mining craze - normally the 280X would be 300$, but due to coin mining they are 400-420$+ right now. In other words, a fucking ripoff - so much so that nvidia has better values in every price bracket compared to AMD these days. So if your budget is 250ish, the GTX 760 is the only option (AMD has nothing in this price bracket even at non inflated prices) or you can get the GTX 770 for around 300$.

I'd agree with others that the GTX 760 is the best option and an absolutely huge upgrade from your 560, I like the Asus DC II model quite a bit myself. If you want to spend a little more coin, you can probably find a 770 in the 300-330$ price range on sale at times. The 770 includes 3 free games which you can sell to offset the pricetag a bit, as well.

Looks like you already have the 760 on your short list. I have 4 friends that recently upgraded to that card and all are pleased with the card thus far. I went a couple of tiers up and bought a 780. (because I wanted it to last at least 2 years and wanted > 2GB video memory) Time will tell if my choice was worth the extra cost....
