Steam 2013 Winter sale is here! runs from December 19th to January 2nd.

i used flush dns earlier and got into the store. Whats up with this shelter gamer lol doesnt look like a game ill play more then 20mins

lol Shelter is the game I voted for. Yeah it might not look like a high action game but the story/game is meant to be more of an experience.

like The Path, Dear Esther, etc. More about the experience of playing it and the emotions it brings up.

Ugh, Steam is down again.

Skyrim or Endless Space?

Never played Skyrim but played a lot of Endless Space. Great 4x turn based strategy game. Only con to endless space are the scripted space battles and no interactive zoom in-zoom out planet manager like Sins of Solar Empire.

Okay, the flush DNS thing worked.

No Half-Life 3. But thank god Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Platinum is on sale.

Site is back up and working now... I think the community choices are either a sham or everyone is choosing the cheapest possible option... wtf with shelter, your a mother badger...

Yeah why no love for The Wolf Among Us? I was hoping the would have won, but no the cheapest game wins again.

who picked up ROTT remake for $3. I did and I would say that it is definitely worth getting for $5 or less...

Watched my wife play State of Decay most of the evening and that game is pretty damn solid if you like open world zombie survival. Definitely, definitely an alternative to DayZ et al if you don't mind the fact it's more GTA with party/management/inventory elements rather than a tactical solo survival (and the fact it's all single player only).

Easily worth the money, including the expansion/DLC assuming it is similar quality. I'm still considering buying it for myself, even without support for surround.

Papers, Please is now 50% @ $4.99! It may not look like much, but seriously, it makes you think and... care.

The download speeds are fucking horrible now. I still can't believe so many people needed Left 4 Dead 2. This pretty much confirms that people want to get involved in anything that's free or ridiculously cheap. How much do you want to bet that half of the people downloading aren't even gamers, just retards from Slickdeals.

EDIT: Seems to be fixed, now downloading KOF at around 7.0 MB/S.

Left 4 Dead 2 is a trending topic on Twitter. The unwashed masses have invaded Steam. It's all over.

Probably cause it was on one of the big daily deals the past few days for that price.

Hmm, doesn't look like I missed much from yesterday. Wasn't Skyrim already 75% off a couple of days ago? I almost bought the legendary version just because it was cheaper than getting the expansions/dlc by themselves.

free steam games are a really clever marketing ploy to get a shitton of new people to install steam client

That's why it's called the "SD effect". I found out about L4D2 being free from there as opposed to here. It was a bitch to "buy" it. Finally succeeded using the Android app. I'll install it when things on Steam's servers calm down a little.

Just think, during the final day of this Steam sale, all these great deals will offered at once! :grumble: ...

I was just about to post that these (daily) sales are pathetic, but the prices dropped a little more after a refresh.

This year has still been fairly uneventful other than 3DMark and DisplayFusion for me. Amazon and GMG have had better deals by far.

I have more extra snow globes for trade.

Have Snow globe 1, two snow globe 7's, and a snow globe #8 for trade.

Need snow globe 2, 3, 6, 9, and 10.

Sooo, the 'not-quite-a-real-gamer' in me hates admitting this, but:

If you never played the first two Deus Ex games, is it a good idea to jump into Deus Ex:HR? I seem to remember hearing many good things about it, and for $5, I might jump on it, but I know not-a-damn-thing about the game/world/etc, and I don't really have the time to play 3 games (I can add one to the backlog without feeling tooo bad)

Its a prequel so you don't need to know anything about the story.

You do not need to have played any of the other Deus Ex games, you can jump right into HR, as it's a prequel/stand alone and you will not miss anything.

It also happens to be a pretty awesome game with some good gameplay BUT also some slightly bad stealth mechanics. I felt that the story more than made up for any shortcomings in mechanical flaws.

I never played the earlier deux ex games either and I enjoyed the hell out of human revolution...AND I bought it at full price. On sale its a no-brainer.

So I thought that the Directors Cut of Deus EX was supposed to patch the regular game, but steam lists it as its own entry and wants to download 16GB... :-\

It's considered an entirely different version/edition of the game.
Sucks that it's THAT large a re-download

Im hoping for dragonborn to go onsale. Its current price lasts until jan 2nd. I will buy ot then if it doesnt go on flash sale or something.

will Old World Blues (Fallout: NV DLC) go on a Flash/Daily deal or is the current 'holiday' price of $3.34 the lowest it will get?
