Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX-Certified Speaker System $99.99 - Best Buy

What the hell. Picked up another set for myself as well :)

Thinking about getting these. How much rms are these? :)

Ive had these for years, EXCELLENT speakers for those who just want a nice 2.1.

I've had my set for around four years and it's been great. I think the bestbuy employee price was only like $70. I should have picked up a second set while I worked there.

Bought these at Best Buy in 2005 and they still sound as good as they do when I bought them.

if you're at all interested in these (even slightly) just buy them. best damn 2.1 pc speakers you can get. i've had mine for 10+ years now, and i'm just now needing another set. sub blew up or something, i don't know.. sounds muddy as shit.

but anyway i'm in @ $100, thanks! :)

I picked up my second set and, after years and years and years of service, removed my Monsoon MM700's from the Bedroom and installed these.

I honestly don't think there is a better speaker set at twice the price.

Bought these to replace a set of Logitech z623. Wow, these speakers absolutely destroys the Logitech in every way.

Picked mine up yesterday. Time to replace my 12+ year old Altec Lansings (the speakers I've had since my very first PC build). Can't wait to try them once I'm back home. Thanks OP!

Is that an ACS48 by any chance? Still have a few sets around and love those!

I'm impressed; usually these threads are cluttered up with replies about how you shouldn't waste your time with these and should go with "real" bookshelf speakers instead...or how the older ProMedia 2.1 sets were supremely better and the newer ones are crap. I know that they made some changes a while back that some claim to have cheapened the unit (and may have affected sound quality somewhat), but if those changes improved reliability then I call that a win. Glad to see people still buying (and loving) these. They are definitely hard to beat for the price...a gem in the PC audio arena for sure.

I had a set of those and then I got a set of the ADA885's. The sub in the 885's is just now starting to fail on me, so I picked up these to replace them.

Putting on my to buy list when the Altec Lansing ACS495 that I got for free in early 2000 dies.

How do these compare to the Corsair SP2500 2.1 system?

Personally I think the corsair set up sounds a bit better... Of course you have to spend twice the cost of the Klipsch to get the sp2500's. My biggest complaint about the corsair 2.1 set is that the bass from the sub seems too boomy no matter what setting I use. No complaints other than that though... Given the choice between the Klipsch set for $80 - $100 or the Corsair set for $160 - $200 (I own both), I'd pick up the Promedias and never look back.

I picked up the sp2500s last year and I think they sound great. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out if the Klipsch were night-and-day better.

I'm glad they still make 'em. Love the crap out of them and two pairs make Godly 4.2 setups
Just counted and I have about 13 sets of these - 10 being used 24/7/365, 3 spares in the garage.

Making a 5.2 or 5.1 setup out of these seems like a great idea.
I might run out to BB and grab a couple pairs today if this isn't tricky to set up.
Anything I should know before undertaking the project?
I have a Soundblaster Titanium card.
Thanks! :D

pick mine up today in store, and they gave me a $15 gift card for spending $100 today so it knocked it down to 85. not bad.

Nice, saw that $15 promo as well so I went ahead and bit. I don't necessarily need new speakers but I may retire my 5.1 surround on my gaming rig and use these instead.

They let you apply that gift card to this purchase? Hahaha wow. I would have thought the gift card would only be valid for future purchases. Regardless, this sold me. I am going tomorrow. If I can't use the $15 off towards the speakers, I'll put it towards a steam wallet card.

Is there any trick to connecting these to your PC for 4.2 surround?

Very tempting....I've already had like 3 sets of these. They are great.

How does using a mono adapter work something like this into "surround" sound?

I think that is just for the sub and you plug one set of two speakers in the front and the other set of two speakers into the surround.
Someone correct me if im wrong.
I think I am going to go run out and snag a couple of these. :-D

Has anyone tried to hook these speakers up to 6.3 or 8.4?

The speakers connect to the sub. The control module has the "3.5 jack" and another wire going to the sub. I fail to see how a two to one adapter would turn two sets into "surround sound" as both would be identical stereo.

Should just be 3.5mm miniplug from each 2.1 set to each output stereo output from your sound card:

front L/R from sound card > 3.5mm = L/R + sub pulls LFE from these channels.
rear L/R from sound card > 3.5mm = SL/SR + sub pulls LFE from these channels.

the 3rd miniplug output in a 5.1 card is generally center/LFE which would go unused on a 4.2 set-up. Just make sure to set it to Quadraphonic (4 speaker) full range speakers in Windows sound config so the bass is passed to the sub rather than a dedicated LFE channel.

I picked these speakers up a bit ago from my online order, will be able to test em out a bit soon.

Has anyone tried to hook these speakers up to 6.3 or 8.4?

At that point, you may be better off just goin with satellites and an actual amp, it would certainly be cleaner going that route instead of having all those subs all over the place.

This Klipsch 5.1 set for example is only $145 after coupon and $25 off $100 clearance savings.

Pair it up with a decent $300-400 AVR and you'll far surpass any of these desktop PC speakers. I'm actually going the other way, since I mainly game on headphones now I'm looking to downsize my 5.1 set-up.

I got my package from BB today in the mail and it seems like I got a used or floor stock item. The box was just taped together and tehre was none of the thin protective foam wrapping the electronics, or twist ties/plastic on wires etc., just the speakers in the styrofoam lol. Looks like I'll have to call in the AM. :(

Use dual analog outputs? I actually tried 6.3 once - 3 subs were overpowering and the two Klipsch sats made for one helluva center :D

Modded X-Fi + 2x Klipsch 2.1s = little motivation to find something better.

i just moved to a new house and my new desk setup (two monitors) is getting a little cluttered with the pc having to be on the desk, and two BS41's as well as my Aune T1. Think i'm going to head down to best buy tomorrow to pick up a pair of these.

anyone have any tips or best preferred methods to hook these up to my Aune T1?
