NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Necere Will using a 38mm think rad be pushing it i have a 34mm one sitting here but im thinking of changing it as i like the other one more? Are the fans better off pushing air out of the case or sucking air in?
There's pics of an H80i in the case a few pages back, which is a 38mm thick rad. The thicker the rad, the tighter the fit, but that doesn't mean you can't make it work. Try it and see.

Thats a single rad not sure if a dual 120mm will fit ?

Do you have any side fans installed as well?

Nope - trying to be very minimalist. Unfortunately, I'm finding the case is too ventilated to provide an easy airflow path for just one chassis fan. I'm going to try 2 PWM fans on the bottom and see how it goes - not sure if their proximity to the GPU will hurt their performance or make excess noise...

i like the idea of that ghetto air dam. it looks like it makes a difference and would be easy for anyone to make

Eagerly waiting your results! I'm only running 2 120mm on the side exhausting. Temps seem to stay around 75 while mining at 2800rpm on the GPU.

What GPU are you running?

I just had the thought to toss in a couple of hollowed out 120mm fan 'shrouds' in the bottom to help channel more air directly into the GPU w/o additional noise of fans. First test showed 80*C (best yet). Next step is get a decent 92mm PWM exhaust fan (may run it as an intake), so I'll try to update later this week.

I'm running a Powercolor HD7950 PCS+ and the two side fans I'm using are GT AP-12's so they're very quiet. Before I moved my computer over to this new case it used to run happily at 75 degrees with only 1200 rpm (was nice and quiet back then).

It feels as though there's no where to vent the hot air more which in turn means it's sucking back in its own hot air (the lower portions of the front and side panel get pretty warm/hot. I've found removing the side panel helps dissipate some of the hot air.

#288 here.

Top panel was slightly bent in one corner. I bent it back flat and it seems to be OK now.

Would a Noctua NH-U9D be sufficient enough to cool a 4770K?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608042

My AIO is eating the crapper. Idle it will keep it 34C, but under load it keep up hitting up into the 90s. This is the third AIO I've had gone bad on me. The first two were Corsair and the third is my current Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro. They all seem to last a little over a year for me then it seems like the fluid just dissapeers lol

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

FYI: I'm running the ASRock H87M-ITX, which has it's socket slightly higher than the z87e. So the larger Noctua coolers are out for me. The pipes will hit the top panel.

I received both of mine today from Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeespatch #26

Black #529 and Silver #927, Yin/Yang? Either way, finally time to order parts!

Too bad I already gave myself a stocking stuffer from one of the good 780 deals... either of these will fit in a stocking without a problem!

It can't be said enough: thank you Necere and WH360!

Case #0965/Silver received from Dispatch 26!
My word it looks Amazing!
Egads, it's also smaller than my subwoofer (a measly cubic foot).

Excellent work Necere & WH360!

Wait for the Noctua NH-D9?

Might not fit your motherboard.

I have 45mm rad and 7mm shrouds with normal 25mm fans and there was still some space to use. :D Not much but still some.

Thanks i just picked up a 38mm rad going to use some SP fans do you have them sucking air though the rad and out the side of the case? Is your a full loop with a GPU water block how are the temps?

Looking at 1/2" ID, 5/8" OD tubing do you think its to thin?

I have those fans pushing the fresh air to the rad. And I used 10mm (3/8") ID, 16mm (5/8") OD tubing, I have been using this size tubing always, so I can't tell if some else is better. Yes, I have a full loop with GPU.

I had before delidded 3570K so now my CPU temps feel too high for me, have to delid this 4670K too when I have time. Haven't really tested my temps yet, just runned Fire Strike Extreme and GPU reached max 51 Celsius so I'm happy with GPU temps. If I play couple hours the water temps gets somewhere around 40 Celsius and thats ok too.

I'm just thinking about 10/13 3/8ID 1/2OD tubing because there no real bad bends and i wont have any trouble using Compression Fittings on my GPU block, 3mm thickness should be fine i would say? So you have the fans sucking air into your system? Thanks for the info

Yes, that should be fine. I had only 2 bends for my tubing, 1 from the GPU to the rad (in last picture) and 1 from rad to CPU (in first picture), and those bends weren't even really tight. Yes, the air goes towards the system, but it gets out from the top easily since the case is well ventilated. And with all my 3 fans are intake fans to the case, I have positive pressure in the case. So most of the dust is in my fan filters, instead of all around the case. Or this is how I believe this works! :D

Thanks ill see how i go i'm new to watercooling so ill just take my time still waiting on a few parts.

The NH-D9 prototype is around for some years now ...

I contacted Noctua directly asking for a version of the NH-U9B with PWM fans and they told me that in 2014 either the D9 or the U9 cooler will come with the PWM flavored NH-B9 fans ;)

The NH-U9DXi4 already is a kinda successor of the U9B (with PWM fans and different fan mounting clips) but only comes with mounting hardware for LGA 2011/1356/1366, though I guess you could somewhere get the mounting brackets to mount it on a LGA 1155/1150 platform

Well, for whatever reason USPS has no info about my black case even though the silver case got delivered yesterday. As far as they know its in Taiwan still. No wonder they are going bankrupt. I'll have to wait and see if it shows up in today's mail.

Yesterday I called them about mine, and they told me that after three failed attempts to deliver it to me, they returned it to the sender. I flipped my lid, telling them that I never once got a notification they had made any attempt. He told me to hold on and 10 minutes later, he returned to tell me that he was actually mixed up and no attempt had been made to deliver my M1, and that they haven't seen it yet.

I guess there's another dude near me in my small town who has a package incoming from Taiwan, amirite?

On a positive note, the USPS tracking updated this morning. Looks like I'll have my M1 in time for Christmas! Yay!

Just picked up #0733 / Black (dispatch 26) from the post office here in Ithaca, NY.

It's fantastic! The build quality is even more evident in person. So is the torque the factory put on some of those screws, haha! Thanks N&W!

I can't wait to put everything together, but alas I have to work today. "Work" from home...

Tracking number finally shows some activity (dispatch #26). Arrived in Fort Worth, TX but not out for delivery yet :/. Hopefully it'll be delivered today otherwise it probably wont be until after Christmas. Can't wait!

Dispatch 26, Los Angeles - notice of attempted delivery left at 7:49 this morning. My wife is home so it seems like they didn't even bother to knock or ring the door bell.

Oh well - don't have any of the parts yet anyway so another day or two wait won't hurt.

#0445 Black, Dispatch 26 arrived to Vermont! It is absolutely amazing how much detail is packed into the little box- evidence of the refined design is apparent if every millimeter of this case! The quality of construction and finish is also suburb.

#0445 with a Celebrator

and 0445 with a good old bottle of double shovels... Far more delicious than coke and the scale still shows the ultra-compactness of this case.

Cheers to Necere, Wahaha360, and all the rest of the forum for contributing to such an amazing project. Happy Holidays!

My last update shows it was in Philadelphia as of Saturday but no delivery yesterday, really hope it comes today.

#405 from boat #26 is safe in hand (w.PA).

Was the 45th to place my order, but instead I got the 405, a stretch of California highway famous for the O.J. Simpson chase.. close enough :D

I'll be the very first to say, it's actually a little larger than I was expecting! Just slightly more than I imagined, but it's still tiny and just what I needed. Shipping box was a little beat up, but interior box was just fine, and the case appears to be perfect (panels all line up nicely, and no dents or scratches, save for some weird miniscule smudge by the USB port that I'll never notice). Haven't checked the inside, but something's was loose and rattling around.. probably the front I/O cable, but sounded like metal-to-metal, so I'm afraid to look just yet.

Center ground pin on the exterior power outlet was in the top position, so hopefully there's no problem flipping it, since I bought a downward facing UA power cord.

All-in-all, incredibly impressed and very happy! Thank you again Necere & W360, and hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas!

Now I'm waiting on you Silverstone, hurry the fuck up with that new SFX PSU!!!

yeah, i'm several kinds of pissed off at the postal service right now.
tracking said "out for delivery" yesterday (for the M1) yet I get no package, then with another package (not the M1 but something else) they re-route it halfway across the country after UPS literally brings it to town for them. Now it's on the slow boat back to town. (meanwhile I have a SAS card collecting dust...)

Silver #911 has arrived (awesome serial # too!) ... will take some pics unboxing shortly.

Well, now their website is finally updated and showing it out for delivery. Their website doesn't update things very well apparently. Hopefully my mailman has it. I just hope he gets here before I go to work. Sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't.

Update: Black case Serial # 506 just arrived. Now to decide which case gets built first and finish buying the components for it.

Well no tracking update, nor a package at my feet...
I bet its sitting somewhere in a corner of a warehouse till someone might pick it up.
CA got theirs, while me in CT just a short distance from NJ got shit.

heh, not really mad at all just trying to bring my spirit up. :D

dang usps. worthless tracking system. everyone in Texas got theirs except for Austin

This thing is seriously tiny. Pics don't do it justice, it's a thing of beauty. Great job Necere and W360, Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays and thanks for delivering unto us this amazing piece of hardware!

I just called usps and they didn't have any additional information besides the date that it was sorted in Taiwan. Hopefully it comes today. Dispatch 26 coming to Gresham Oregon. I will be watching the mail box like a hawk :) Only a half day at work today :)

Are people WCing 780 GTX's and CPU in this lil guy? I have been looking at the spreadsheet, curious of any build threads though!

I plan to but I have yet to see a build with the external FrozenQ res with cpu/gpu. I wish someone would so I knew which fittings to buy :) I just don't think anyone has received the res yet (I haven't and I'm sure I was one of the first to order).

Edit: just checked tracking and the res should be here the 26th :)
