Uplay Winter Sale

I don't mind UPlay or Steam, just as long as it's not UPlay and Steam. That shit is annoying

Uplay really isn't that bad, I prefer steam but it's still leagues better than Origin.

name one issue you have had with origin. I see so many people complain about it and ea yet never say why. ea has excellent customer service through phone or chat and origin has worked perfect for years. only issue i ever had with it was when it first came out it would higher than normal cpu usage when coming out of standby. they fixed that pretty quickly.

the uplay issues are pretty well known and documented. if you leave uplay cloud off and dont buy a game until its been out for many months then you will avoid almost all the issues. if there ever is a problem it will take them a long time to fix in most cases such as the earlier patching issue I mentioned and also the FC 3 extra content issue that took a couple months to get sorted out.

I have not been able to successfully download any game on Origin since June of this year. A game will show up to 99% successful download, then drop back down to a lesser percentage, and start the download again. I have a current case with Origin support open now and after a month it is still not concluded.

I have looked for months for solutions, and have tried MANY fixes, but none work. I have FIOS to my home and have the issue on all computers in the house. I have gone into the router config and opened all ports suggested etc.

Sad panda......

I had a TON of problems with Origin trying to get the fucking overlay to even work in Dead Space 3 so I could use Ration Seals.

so i thought this thread was for Uplay deals?

i bought rayman origins for $5, like 50 times better playing it with a PC controller than on the Wii.

you got it half right...just disable cloud saves and all potential problems will be solved

it doesn't take 'months' to solve Uplay issues...there will always be a subsection of users online who complain about issues that are non-existent to 90% of gamers...whether it be video card drivers, games etc

AGAIN it did take months to resolve some of the issues I mentioned. it had NOTHING to do with me personally and was a uplay issue. the patching issue impacted EVERY one who had retail or uplay version.

here is the patch issue for http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/787183-PC-Version-Auto-Patch-Installer-Issue

Hey guys...

So it turns out we're having some issues with the PC version and the Patch auto-Installer.

First off... this does not effect anyone who purchased the game via Steam.
Any other PC version (disc or digital) needs to MANUALLY install the patch.

that was started on 8/19/13

it was fixed on 12/8/13

that is almost FOUR months

and to this day they never have bothered to put patch 1.02 and 1.03 on their official patch page. all thats there is the first patch and you had to get the other 2 from the web during those 4 months. if you did not then the game would constantly update to first patch every time the game was started.

do I really need to link to the missing extra content threads for FC 3 that also took months to resolve or does the above example actually sink into your head?

do I need to link you to Steam releasing the wrong version of Dead Island to its users?...or how they refuse to issue refunds to people who cannot launch their games?...or patching issues?...point being that this is not isolated to Uplay

gee no shit? and did that Dead Island issue take months to fix? of course not.

the point is you have tried to discredit what I am claiming about specific issues and even try put the blame on me.

I believe you have issues with Splinter Cell...but you're trying to discredit Uplay as a whole by making it seem that these issues are widespread and is a reason to avoid using Uplay...every service has its hiccups...Uplay is also fairly new to the scene compared to Steam...if the Splinter Cell issue was as widespread as you claim then everyone would have it and not just a certain percentage...and honestly manually downloading a patch is not a big deal and is a relatively easy fix...before Steam etc everyone had to manually patch their games

again I talked about specific issues with SC Blacklist and FC 3 and YOU tried to act like it was my fault. you were just being a stubborn ass refusing to accept the truth.

again manually downloading a patch is not that big of a deal...you act like it's the hardest thing in the world to manually install a game patch...Uplay is terrible for making me manually download a patch

Yeah, never tried that.... It has literally been months with no results. As of today it has been over a week since I had any contact on my case.

Just noticed something interesting.... I opened up Origin and found about 4 games missing. I don't use it often, the only reason I have it actually is mass effect 3... but I open the client the other day and find all the games I purchased and loaded from my previous humble bundle purchase are gone. I KNOW I had Dead Space 3 in there and a few others.... all gone, not showing up anymore. Now, I'm not really worried personally because I got it and others for like $4... but still.. the funny part is ME3 and Dragon Age 2 were still in there... so some were gone but some are still there? Weird.

Also, I think the point with Origin/Steam/Uplay is nobody wants 3-4 different clients to troubleshoot when things go wrong. That's why everyone hated GFWL, more clients = more chances for stuff to get botched. For example, I have Far Cry 3 on Steam... now it opens up all this Uplay crap, well, the slippery slope there is why just Uplay? Maybe the developer wants a client too? and maybe Nvidia or AMD do a deal and get a client, as well as 3DMark... Maybe someday soon we have 7 different clients to log into to launch a game, and if we don't do it in the right order we spend our life on forums looking for the "secret" to get our games to work. Okay that may be an exaggeration but we all know the more mandatory crap linked to our games the more chances of error. For instance, I had FC3 and now I buy the upgrade to deluxe edition from steam. Good deal. Steam gives me the code. I enter it into steam... nothing. I enter it into the Uplay client... nothing. I enter it into Uplay console inside FC3.... nothing. So I search forums and realize I have to enter it into another area once the game is launched..... really?
