NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Woo-Hoo, looks like one of my cases is right down the street. #26
Hope I get both by Christmas Eve :)
]
sa-wheet - both of them are there.

Hmm... I'm in your neck of the woods (Plymouth) and was on #26. Unfortunately, USPS tracking still says KEELUNG, TAIWAN :(

Put your Tracking number into "Track another page" at bottom

Looks like I may be getting mine tomorrow too :D

Dunno, still says the same thing. Maybe they processed yours first.

Same here (both), but just a little north.

EDIT: Oops, north of the Morgantown guy, not Minnesota. WTF? How is the midwest getting stuff from #26 before the east coast does??

Actually just had an unexpected Sunday delivery from FedEx guy driving a weird rental box truck, and freaked out.. not M1.

Mine was USPS and I missed delivery (they left a "come pick it up at the PO" notice). No ninja battles required ;)

Thanks! Was just wondering, since a guy Friday mentioned his came from a courier he didn't recognize.

They put us on special "watch lists" here in the US for *constantly* refreshing tracking at USPS for international deliveries, right? :D

Finally got an update, looks like it was processed yesterday in Philadelphia, so I should have it tomorrow :D

We are extremely polite. (Please God, Please God, Please God - Oh my Lawd Thank You, Thank You, Thank You)

I was outside earlier shoveling snow and I recieved an unexpected surprise...:D

I'm in Chicago, IL. I'll be selling it very soon, which makes me sad, but I'm just waiting on a better camera as this case deserves it!

Then don't sell it, if it makes you sad ?

Originally it was never my plan to sell it but I need the money more than the case right now, unfortunately. I'll get over it though and in the process hopefully make one of my fellow [H] members happy.

Since when did USPS deliver on a Sunday? Anyway, looks like they are making their way west and south. Tomorrow starts the business days again so hopefully some good news here in the deep south.

hmm mine is a different number but same dispatch 26. oh well the wait continues.

The numbers update once the package arrives in your hometown I think. The only updates I got were when it showed up in my post office at least.

Of course the case arrives as soon as I leave town for the holidays! Checked on my tracking at USPS tonight, and see that they attempted delivery today (#26, Fairfax, Virginia). Le sigh...

First time posting here. Wanted to thank wahaha360 and Necere for this awsome case. I received it December 21st in Maryland (dispatch 26) and built my new computer the same day. Got everything up and running now.

My build is nothing unique but for those who curious this what I am running and after stress testing everything seem stable.

Motherboard
ASUS impact ( I have not experience any of the issues other people had with the sound card yet)

CPU
Intel I7 4770K

PSU
SILVERSTONE ST45SF-G

Ram
Crucial ballistix tactical lP 16GB (2X8)

video card
Evga geforce 780 hydro copper(using EK CSQ G1/4 Thread 90° Fitting Adapter and EK G1/4 Thread Perfect Seal Compression Fitting)

Hardrive os
samsung 840 pro 512gb (mounted inside front cover)

Hardrive storage
WD 3tb 3.5 (bottom mounted)

case
Ncase m1 (black #0681)

cd drive
slim bluray burner

Radiator/pump/reservoir
Swifttech H220 (I removed all the tubing and installed custom length tubs)

Tubing
EK ZMT Tubing - 3/8" ID (5/8"OD)

Windows
Windows 8.1 pro 64bit oem

It was a tight fit, not looking forward to opening it up if I have to change anything connected to motherboard but am quiet happy with the outcome and I love how the computer looks sitting on my desk.

A question for Necere will compression fittings like the ones in the picture below fit? looking at the barb and compression fittings next to each other there not much difference in size, I know there are some that have a larger cap.

Is that the 1/2" (13mm) OD one? 29mm tall, according to Alphacool's site. It will most likely fit, though it might require using the upper position for the fan bracket, which increases the clearance by 7.5mm.

You definitely went all out making that H80i fit, and with two fans even! I see you had to shorten the tubing (bet that was loads of fun to fill and bleed), and mod the AC cable. Props for making it work though!

Another full loop? Definitely need pics! How'd you deal with installing the H220 block on the Impact?

brute force (am only half joking)

Only camera I have is my cell phone but I try to take some pics tomorrow. From front and top. wont be a perfect view but there no way am unskewing the radiator after all the trouble I had installing it.

It is not a pretty cabling job. I was too impatience to wait for custom modular cables so I used the ones that came with the psu.

The cpu block was actually one of the easier parts. I got the barbs facing the front and back of case. In the back there a very short tube that comes up into the graphic card compression fitting with is facing almost downward (slight angle toward back of case). The front tube runs all way across the top of the case to the radiator who connections are at the front of the case. Then there a short cable from radiator into the graphic card.

I did the entire installation with no liquid in the loop, till I got all the tubs the length I wanted. I then filled the loop and leak tested outside the case.

The hard part was installing it in the case. I installed the loop video card, cpu block then radiator. The back of the video card is defiantly bending a little more in the back then the front to make it fit (smaller fitting might of helped). I had to push fairly hard to get the skews in. Once the skews where in I checked all the turns the tubs made to make sure they was smooth. It was really scary installing the loop and balancing radiator on a box next to case as I installed video card. During cpu block installation the radiator was sitting half on a box and half on side case. I then forced the radiator in but it worked out.

I know I scratch the radiator, inside of the case and my 840 pro (got to make sure barbs not facing back of case I learned) when angling the radiator in. I personally not ocd about stuff like that as long as the outside looks good. I am also guessing a lot of people would be afraid to put that much pressure on a $600 graphic card but at that point I was tired and ran out of patience. Luckily it worked out.

First of all who is Dan? It sounds to me like someone named Dan in customs for Malaysia has your M1. Someone else received their delivery to Malaysia two days ago, so they are probably showing up there now. I would call and try to find out what is going with it. The tracking site isn't being updated in a timely manner for many.

Either that, or you have a room mate named Dan that intercepted your delivery and is holding it hostage. ;)

Sorry, forgot to mention that I got that email from info at ncases dot com

Just came back from outstation and immediately sent a call to the post office. They've never received the case over in shipping, otherwise it'd be marked as being checked by customs.

I'll probably just wait a few more days and see how this turns out.

My Crucial Ballistix Tactical LP 16GB (2x8GB) just arrived :)

Like those two DIMMs on the right

Swiftech H220 + ASRock Z77E-ITX take two!

Its a Alphacool 13/10 Compression Fitting yer it takes 3/8ID 1/2OD tube which i think will be think though seeing tubing doesn't affect flow much at all.

Will using a 38mm think rad be pushing it i have a 34mm one sitting here but im thinking of changing it as i like the other one more? Are the fans better off pushing air out of the case or sucking air in?

I know how that feels i felt the same when the 1st time i tried using a H100i there was just not enough room for my liking and the PSU cables where really pissing me off as they kept getting in the way in the end i gave up, The next day i put it all together just how i wanted it, Then the day after i pulled it out as i wanted to do it right and went the custom loop option, Also will be shortening my cables this time around.

And some scratches on the inside cant be helped as its only painted aluminum which scratches very easy.

My case is listed on Despatch #25, but I haven't received any updates from either USPS or iPost (the USPS tracking number is archived). Should I be worried? Did other people on Despatch #25 get updated iPost information when the ship landed?

I did mod the AC cable but the H80i would fit without needing to mod it. I cut it short just because I thought it was too long :)

I didn't cut the H80i tubbing, nor I had the necessity to bleed. I used two H80i's, one was destroyed to experiment with diferent things, the other one was not touched/modded except for the sanding of the copper plate ( I sanded the copper plates of the two blocks, the pictures of the copper plate are from the H80i that was destroyed. The end result was similar so I didn't take pictures of the copper plate I am actually using. It is actually easier to sand the copper plate with it attached to the water block.

So, The H80i fits unmodified with no problems at all, as long as only one 25mm fan is used, or one 25mm fan + one 12mm fan ( Two 12mm fans would would work as well :) )

Where'd you get the filter on the back of the case shown in pic 74?

I had it on my spare part's closet, bought it years ago, can't remember were, but I will have a look at the places where I usually get stuff from later today to see if I can find it. I will post in this thread.

The folder I shared has a README.txt file with some notes on the build.

The case is fantastic. I have only one concern and that is with the screws/screw holes that secure the side bracket. They will wear off in no time. This is my third aluminium lian-li manufactured case and the aluminium threads are destroyed after screwing/unscrewing a couple of times even if one takes some care. I would also have used thicker aluminium sheets, these ones bend with ease, this is especially true for the side bracket. ( don't know if lian-li can machine thicker alu ).

I hope you guys can grow this into a buisness and bring to market a similar case for mATX motherboards. I would still use the impact, but the extra space would come in hand for other things :)

very nice, though i should probably ask if using those 2 completely different fans for push/pull on the radiator is gonna cause turbulence or not?

I'm planning to do my build with an h80 and a 2 15mm phobya slim fans, my only worry with my build is that damn metal tubing on the h80. :/

I didn't find any unusual noise/behaviour with this fan combination.

What do you mean by metal tubing?

I belive that the H80i with two 25mm fans and the original tubes will fit the case as long as the motherboard doesn't have a power regulated PCB elevated from the mb and a sound card that is also elevated from the mb. The impact has both and I felt that that was the reason the two 25mm fan configuration would not work. While there is space for the two 25mm fans plus the radiator ( there is a 3-4mm clearence to the waterblock ), there is no way of routing the original tubes without colapsing them. Shortening them is not a solution and using thinner tubes also doesn't work, I tried both with the H80i that I destroyed. The only way I think it would work would be using bendable rigid acrylic tubing. The main culpit are the Radiator barbs that are non-directional and on top of that, they extend to much from the radiator face.

That one will not work because It's 120mm and not 92mm ( i checked silverstone web site and they dont have 92mm fan filters ). Also, you need to unscrew the grill to clean the dust. The one I use you just need to pull the plastic frame.

My tracking number shows that the case is at my home post office this morning.

Looks like it will show up today or tomorrow.

I'm in Ohio.

Dispatch 26.
