I have been playing AC2 lately and noted the updated Uplay had a store and was advertising a winter sale. They have AC3 for 10.20, AC Brotherhood for 5 and Rayman Origins for 5.00 as well.

Here is the link to the store page:
http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubina/en_US/html/pbPage.wintersale

I know it's another publisher front end like Origin, but since I already have it for Far Cry 3 it doesn't bother me too much.

Ubisoft is a moronic company with shitty Uplay and horrible customer service. it appears that cant even do a sale right on their store. I click to add AC 3 deluxe edition to my cart and it shows AC 4 Black Flag. incompetent morons.

LOL there should be a poll, which is worse GFWL or Uplay...that would be tough to vote, prob GFWL though....

Yeah avoid unless you can activate the keys on steam or otherwise. Uplay is horri-bad.

Uplay is fine...just as good as Steam or Origin...I wouldn't hesitate to buy games from them if the price was right

horseshit. uplay is pure shit. there are times when it cannot connect at all. if it cant sync perfectly when you quit your game, saves can be lost. tons of people lose their saves everyday and this has been an issue since the service started. uplay would not connect one day at all so I deleted and re installed it only to find out they keep the save games in the uplay launcher so had to start FC 3 all over.

the idiots did not even have all the patches for SC Blacklist on their site and you had to go online to find patch 2 and 3. before that uplay would always try to repatch the first patch over and over. that went on for months and was still an issue as of last week for uplay version. I have plenty of other complaints too. and good luck getting someone from customer service.

I always disable cloud saves within the Uplay interface as I did have an issue once with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood where some of my saves disappeared...after disabling the 'cloud', Uplay has been perfect...patches auto-update with no issues...never had to deal with customer service so no idea about that...Steam's customer service is just as bad...good luck with Steam getting back to you quickly...overall the Uplay client itself works just as good as any other

people like to rant against Uplay when Steam has most of the same issues

But it's not Steam! <---main complaint
no, I have no complaints with Origin. even the guy defending uplay lost his saves before. its a shitty service and ubisoft has always had issues with saves or maintaining connectivity.

and its asinine that I have to go search the web for patches for a ubisoft game bought right from their very own uplay.

UPlay is worse, because at least Microsoft has informally acknowledged the supreme failure of gfwl and decided to let it die.

Uplay sale is like a discount on getting your wisdom teeth out, but they don't give you any novocaine.

No thanks.

Uplay seems to work ok for me but I had an issue recently that will deter me from buying from them in the future. I had downloaded Black Flag and Blacklist from them with my Nvidia codes and several weeks later decided to upgrade my mobo/cpu when Microcenter had their $199 4770k deal. I had to download each again because Uplay won't find/use your existing installations like Steam(and most of the time Origin). Not a huge deal but Uplay and Origin should be striving to do things better than the 800lb Steam gorilla if they want to be legitimate competitors and not just a mandatory service for select games.

I've used Uplay for Trials Gold and never had any problems with it. I don't know where its bad reputation originated, but it works just fine nowadays.

Does uplay support offline mode yet ? THe last big complaint i heard about uplay is they decided to take the servers down for a week to do some sort of update and no one could play their uplay games that week (I think it was like a year ago or so).

Actually, that only affected games that required an always on connection and obviously mutiplayer games. UPlay has an offline mode that works with any game that isn't required to be always online.

I don't see Uplay any different than any other 3rd or 1st party gaming client, just a reality of PC gaming. Haven't had a problem with it, the sales on the other hand are pretty ho-hum compared to other recent deals. AC3 for example was on sale for $7 or so a few days ago on GMG.

Fallout 3 GOTY and New Vegas Ultimate Edition available for $5 each with 10% off using code 10thanks. The keys are redeemable on Steam, making this a better deal than any other sale available right now.

UPlay is a real piece... works ok to play the game but AC3 it won't connect to authorize/add the dlc that came with the game. Revelations connecting fine, can load the dlc... run AC3, cannot connect to servers.

Checked, known bug on the net for many since release and no fix from Ubi.

Outside of this major issue, I've had no problems, but this is bad. If you buy DLC/Season Pass and cannot redeem/play, it's a deal breaker for future purchases.

****************
Edit - just logged on and tried to redeem dlc again, it's now working (Uplay have another patch install at startup) so for now all is working so anyone else with AC3 code redemption problems, try it out today.

Among others, here's my gripe with UPlay.

Both UPlay and Steam are simply launched and running in the background. Steam at 39k of memory, UPlay at 210k. Not that it's meaningfully high, but it's, IMO, a bad Steam knock-off.

I wish FarCry ran through Steam and I didn't have to launch UPlay to play it.

Side note: Sorry about all the things running, it's probably causing some of you some distress. I just built this box a few weeks ago and I still haven't customized it all.

Well I didn't realize that Uplay was going to incite such hate. I just wanted to put the info out there. Steam has really reduced the number of games on sale daily and haven't been that impressive and I just saw it was an option. I can understand the frustrations, I've just not experienced them myself

Since ubi games has to go through Uplay to play (even if purchased on Steam), would it have made a difference for a Steam version of AC4?

see that is how odd Ubisoft is because it does make difference. for example, Splinter Cell Blacklist on Steam is fully updated but directly from Uplay its not. it will only install the first patch and will continuously try to do so every time you start the game. they dont even have patch 2 and 3 on their very on site or Uplay. you have to go on the web and search for it.

any others besides fallout 3 and fallout new vegas that activate on steam too?

hmmm. my blacklist is updated automagically to 1.3. never had a prob

Uplay ate my ram... need to go cry now. lol

you think that's bad Uplay fondled my sis and sold my grandmother some time shares in florida.

i just installed it about a week ago so he could be right, but that also means they've fixed something.

and the issue with patching goes back to middle of August. over 4.5 months to address patching problems with a ubisoft game on their very own digital distribution service is ridiculous.

Well aside from the sheer hate that seems to be bubbling out from everyone's brown eye, you guys' can get your dick beaters on a sweet ass deal. How to survive is 75% off and for $3.75 is an amazing game. I had never heard of it until a caster that I follow started a playthrough (MadGuru).

Check it out!

Game link: http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubina/en_US/pd/ThemeID.8605600/productID.289756500/How-To-Survive.html

Is the game like Diablo (rpg elements, story etc) or more like "here's a gun and see how long you survive with no story"?

ya its a diablo/path of exile type of game

It's more interesting than Diablo in my opinion. It's hard to describe without showing a video. Check it out on youtube or check out MadGuru's youtube channel. He does small walkthrough and you'll get the gist pretty quickly.

I have to agree, granted I do find steam alot more convenient. If its cheap enough i'm ok uplay or origin.
