I just installed an MSI Z87-GD65 into my case and the side edges of the mobo are sticky.. Yuck! Is this normal??

Just installed the same motherboard a week ago had no sticky residue on mine. Does not sound normal.

Well I hope it works.. Dangit. lol. Everything looks normal on it. No apparent damage or any other oddities.

Wash it off with ethanol, most likely something left over from the manufacturing process.

Can't be as bad as the human hair I found mixed in with the thermal paste in my Macbook pro on the CPU.

Ewww that's even worse! :D

The mobo is installed, not taking it back out unless it doesn't work.. Heh.. was a pain getting it in there while sitting on a small linoleum floor to avoid the insane static buildup in the rest of my apartment because of the dry air and wall to wall to wall carpeting.

Yeah was pretty gross, when I replaced the thermal paste the CPU temp dropped 30C in both idle and load temps.

Thats Foxconn manufacturing for you.

Well, the motherboard seems to work just fine. I installed Windows 7 without any issues.. Unfortunately the molex connector on the fan hub of the case was messed up, so I can't do anything more until I get that replaced. Shit.

At least I got to check to make sure all of my hard drives and memory, etc, were all recognized.. Can't run it without case fans through. NZXT and their molex crap.
