What image browser do you like best for navigating and working with your large collections of photos?

Good question.

Did the macports "slackers" finally integrate geeqie?

I simply use the included program previews. I haven't seen reason to use anything else.

The exception to that is if I'm viewing a collection of raw files, then I use Photo Mechanic, but that isn't the sort of program most general users would need.

Coming from a program like ThumbsPlus, the built in previews just are not cutting it.

Renaming folders, moving crap around easily, easy navigating around thousands of image collections... are just some of what's missing from the built in apps.

I use ACDSee 2.44 on my PC it was released in 2000.

I am looking for a picture viewer like that where you can navigate file/folder hierarchy around with keyboard. Have not found any on the Mac yet though.

I use Xee.

But I agree, I loved ACDSee from back in those days. Haven't been able to find anything similar for my mac either.

I too am looking for that. So used to my Windows 7 stock preview.

Finder will show image previews in columns mode, and Quick Look functions through Finder navigation: you can move through folder hierarchies with the numeric keys while in Quick Look.

Finder poops out at showing image previews when you have large collections of files.
