XP and 7 are good examples of what MS releases when they actually listen to customers. Me, Vista, and 8 are examples of MS telling the customer what they think they should want.

You saw windows in any thread and the same horde of whiners magically appear and bash it with the same inane arguments. *shrug*I have a theory that if you say "Metro" 3 times in a row in any thread, heatlesssun will magically appear and defend the metro UI
95% of the [H] userbase would love to have a word with you.
dear microsoft,
for once in the entire history of your company, i believe its time to try something so insane and unorthodox that doing so may start the beginning of the apocalypse:
listen to your customers
the same horde of whiners
I never forget. I never forgive. But most people forget all the changes that happwned to xp and 7 as well and forget the growing pains with both of them as well.
The way people talk around here, you would think this forum is filled with Corporate Business professionals .....

82% of statistics are made up.
As far as options go... Is Classic Start/Start8, etc banned from being installed on the OS? So you do have the OPTION of doing whatever the fuck you want with your Windows 8? Is it useable without it? Definitely. Do some people hate the way they have to use it? Definitely. Can you modify it to your liking? Definitely.
The way people talk around here, you would think this forum is filled with Corporate Business professionals that have years of experience running a global billion dollar company that covers about 90% of their market.
I think there are more system admins on these forums than you want to believe.
There's having a different opinion, and there's shoving that same opinion down peoples throats every single fucking time any slightly related topic is brought up about it. Especially if said opinion is considered weak. But that latter is more opinion based anyway. It's just getting tiring. Grrrrr. ORIGIN sucks!, XBOX1 sucks! PS4 sucks! Win8 sucks! EA sucks! DICE sucks! Apple sucks! I WILL TELL YOU EVERY CHANCE I GET THAT IT SUCKS!You really don't like people having different opinions on what they like, do you?
I think there are a whole lot actually. But I'm speaking about 10 pay grades above those guys. People making such ambitious statements about how to run a company like they are C level employees. Not about their experience as a sys admin and the issues they may face.I think there are more system admins on these forums than you want to believe.

If your change increased this metric, it is a bad change. If it decreased it, it is a good one.
LOL...look at how fast he is peddling! MS can't give you what you want but here are some 3rd party hacks! And yes I am one of those 90%....of course that could be one of those made up statistics, correct!
Yea 3rd party hacks eh? Be more sensationalist. I don't think hack means the way you think it does.
You say that like if people didn't hate on them about just as much. I have been seeing people rage every single release since 98.
The whole Metro UI should have been an OPTION to choose for those few touchscreen computers out there in the world. Those are the computers most likely to be used in the same manner as a tablet or phone. For the rest of the world, anyone who has more than half dozen pieces of software to run would find the Start menu easier, more logical, and dare I say it... more intuitive than the crazy Metro UI.
I still remember my very first brush with Metro UI... when I actually had to do a Google search to learn where the Windows shutdown button was hidden. Under Settings? Really?
worm
I am going against the trend. I think window 8 is easier to use without start button. That is because I only use few applications.
7 did for the most part. But there were criticisms of the changed start bar. Then people realized they loved it. XP did not. You must of forgot about all the drama when XP was put on machines with hardware too weak to run it, but nope it was the OS'es fault. But now you can't say a bad thing about XP.They really didn't though. XP and 7 had glowing reviews and were blockbusters in terms of sales.
Actually yes I do...but go ahead and cry moar.
DX 11.2 that only works on 8.1 because, "Fuck You", that's why!

In other words, you don't want to hear negative opinions about Windows 8 because you love it so much and fuck those guys they should learn to use Metro and shut up because you don't wanna hear it!

Says the guy crying about having to install a program to get more functionality out of his OS. But yea call the "program" a "hack" so you can try to strengthen your weak argument. Because hacks are bad. Windows 8 makes you have to hack it in order for it to be usable in any way. Fuck outta hea with that drivel. lol.
Not sure what kept them of putting in both metro and start meny though, not even as an option, but just both. More choice is always fun to have.
No. But nice strawman. Example: I personally can't stand much of anything Sony does or produces. What I don't do is go into every thread bashing the shit every chance I get. I'll let those people enjoy what they want to enjoy in peace. I don't care for Apple much either, but I don't go bashing them every time the word "fruit" or "steve jobs" or "iphone" is mentioned.
It's that people don't seem to realize that Metro is a second, better desktop that doesn't force you to minimize everything to get to it. I have windows key binded on a mouse side button. EVERYTHING is now 2 clicks way, and I don't need to minimize anything. The more I used Metro the more icons migrated from my original desktop which became more and more like a temporary work space to slide sutff on. Why in the world would I prefer a start menu that requires more clicks and slides in a less accessible format?
How many clicks does it take for a user to do what they want to do? If your change increased this metric, it is a bad change. If it decreased it, it is a good one.

I swear [H] got too popular and is now stealing the fanbase of TomsHardware. *ignore time*
take away metro and bring back the start button, what do you have left, windows 7?
Sigh, and there comes the posting of pictures... so juvenile. I swear [H] got too popular and is now stealing the fanbase of TomsHardware. *ignore time*
They really didn't though. XP and 7 had glowing reviews and were blockbusters in terms of sales.
So you don't make simple jokes at Sony's expense? You complain about everyone that does? That's a pretty normal standard for discussion of companies, and it's rather pedantic to get so animated. Now, if everyone were ranting about how much they hated that company or its products, I might agree. However, that's not what people are doing regarding Windows 8. They're giving it about as much shit as was given to Vista, and both 8 and Vista had significant enough problems that reasonable levels of shit should be expected.
There is a difference between broke and not tech relevent anymore. iOS really broke the mold and blackberry and their "superiority" weren't willing to admit that they weren't relevent anymore. All of their changes were because they were trying to play catch up and they didn't have a plan or model in place to support those changes. Good companies will always be trying to push the envelope of what is going to keep thrm in the forefront.
They really should have just done this to start with. I realize it is not hard to get to the desktop and I realize that their are good things about the Metro UI, however all of the negative stuff could have been avoided and Win 8 would've been praised otherwise. Some people have to be eased into change.

Worst part is, I get sucked in half the time. I'm like do not click that comment button, don't... shit. I clicked. Now this thread, well I def shoulda known better. It is titled specifically what people have griped about. But fuck man.
