I don't even see how we are playing the same game. I started yet another new toon, a scion 2H thrower, and just killed dom for the second time, norm/cruel, and he only dropped a single yellow item in both kills. I had to farm the docks from 50 to 54 for some reason, and I got no better than alchemy orbs and less than 20 yellow items and no orange items. I cannot believe that with all of my toons, the RNG hates me that much.

Dominus drop (normal difficulty) on my new dual-claw Duelist:

Merciless Dominus drop:

Decided to do some Vaal runs and also started swapping in my Item Rarity gem at kill and got this from my 4th Vaal run (63% total item rarity):

Quill Rain and another armour I'd never seen called Lightbane Raiment.

I also discovered it's best to get your crap crafted BEFORE you apply a Blacksmith Stone/Armor Scrap because the orbs to link/change sockets wipes out the added Quality :(

Wow, I never actually noticed this for some reason...but yeah that is brutal if you're trying to do that on a unique. 20 stones/scraps per roll is insane.

Wow thats some nice luck there!

I don't "need" a 6L because I think my build works pretty well so far, but there's just something about the prospect of running Burning Arrow, Elemental Proliferation, Faster Attacks, Weapon Elemental Damage, Added Fire, and Increased Burning that gives me a chubby.

No doubt. I'm just saying be careful when trying to make a 5L into a 6L.

I hear ya :)

Thanks to those who educated me on the "Link" orb consuming the "quality" to improve link chances!

I saw only "part" of a discussion in chat about it but, because I joined the chat channel in the middle of the conversation I didn't know what they were talking about. And, because of the decidedly unfriendly nature of chat I didn't feel like asking for clarification, lest I be reminded about how many of the PoE playerbase has slept with my mom...

I will just start collecting more "Superior XXXX" trash drops to horde so I can build up a decent reserve of armor scraps and blacksmith stones. :)

I think I have like 30 stash tabs now, lol.

Like I said, I am either doing something wrong or we playing different games. I killed dominus last night in cruel and between him and the other oranges you fight they only dropped two yellow items, all the rest were blue and whites. No orbs either.

I'm still using all four linked gear, and I have no understanding of how you could possibly get 1000 orbs of anything to be honest, lol let alone 1000 fusings. I mean I have like 8 stacks of portal scrolls in the bank and probably two stacks of wisdom scrolls, but all orbs are like <10, except those ones that add effect to blue items.

Wow, just wow. I am seriously like an abused player...

Did you drown baby kittens in your past life?

My son asked the same thing, except puppies. He thinks I am a masochist for continuing to play a game that treats me so horribly.

64% Item Rarity (52% on support gem, 12% on ring), 0% quantity. I decided to just leave the Item Rarity gem in my combo since I wasn't having trouble killing anything without the Faster Casting and it seemed to help make the pre-boss part of the run more profitable.

I might try swapping in those Goldwyrm boots I found to see how 25% quantity helps out.

It starts with one really lucky drop or in my case a lucky chance orb - I chanced a shavronne's wrappings that I sold for 35 exalt way back when before the price skyrocketed. Then you buy other good stuff low and start selling at a profit. I was up to 47 exalts by trading but I bought a 5L shavronne's for 32 ex last night (was a very good deal for me). I'm going to try out a low life build but then I'll sell it for a profit again later unless I really like the low life build.

Much more recently I got super lucky with an "inheritance" from "stranger bob" but I haven't actually sold any of that stuff yet. I'm using a good bit of it though.

The game is about the economy and trading. You are literally better off sitting in town selling/buying/reselling items to get orbs than you are actually playing the game. I guess that statement makes no sense because the actual point of the game is trading, and so trading would be playing the game. Killing stuff is more like a mini-game.

If you're wearing zero mf gear (*cough* or playing some shitty summoner build *cough*), this statement is correct.

If you're wearing good mf gear, and farming content that you can kill quickly + townrun quickly, you can plenty of currency quickly.

Always have a quantity gem in your main skill, ~35% quantity is hard to get and worth the gem slot.

Have run speed on boots, have a quicksilver flask. Speed always helps, both survival and for clearing speed.

Use Ctrl+Click to quickly move items to the vendor.

Learn to organize your inventory as you move through zones quickly, be able to spot tri-color items (for chrom), 6 sockets, and now flasks on the ground. Have a standardized "spot" for certain items. I keep ID+Portal scrolls in my top two spots on far left of inventory. The first 8slot item I get goes under them, as I get 4slotters, I line them up on the bottom, I fill a whole column of space as I get 6slot items on top of the 4slotters. If my inventory is full/near full, I make sure to take the 8slotters with me first, as they take the most space. If I finish a map/boss and there is only 1-2 rares left but a full inventory, I just whatever puts the most in my inventory (a helm+chest instead of a 2hander+ 2 slot dead space).

Save rings+ammy+belts for the chaos recipe. If you have bought stash tabs, stockpile a bunch of each slot so you can just quickly move them to the vendor and convert to chaos.

Don't underestimate the value of augments. Its not difficult to farm a couple hundred augs then trade those for whatever currency you want.

To say that sitting in town and trading is the core game is completely dependent on the player. If thats what you want to do, all the power to you. If you keep at it, yeah, you might learn how to get rich; but considering it "fun"....nah.

It is more efficient, in Nemesis it's actually pretty easy to get rolling as well. Sell wisdom scrolls, alts, etc for chaos until you can afford ex and then start flipping ex until you get enough to do whatever the hell you want. Only took a couple weeks for me to kit myself out like that.

The game really is easier if you take advantage of trading.

OK, I do those things in the game, and I have 14 stash tabs. I typically don't sell rings/amulets/belts to vendor, so I have like half a tab of each. I don't know what recipe you speak about here, but I will google it when I get home, (work probably won't let me view the resulting web sites). I do have several stacks of augments, wisdom, portal, chromes, and like 12 of those that randomize the shit on rares, don't remember if it is divine or what.

I will try standing in town and selling stuff, but honestly, the trade chat moves so damn fast I would be surprised if anyone sells anything on there.

Oh and I will screen shot my quantity and rarity tonight and post.

since the game went fully open the trade chat has become ridiculous. I remember during closed beta there was one trade channel and ti was actually useful and didn't scroll very fast. Now even with all the channels there is no way to keep up.

i was really hoping they would address the lack of a trade feature at launch. Imagine being able to browse people's shops in game--boy that'd be sweet.

That would be fabulous.

And I agree, I don't know how you get your mid-level gear sold. You can have a shop thread on the forum but for those of us that have grownup lives and only play games a little bit in the evening, it's hardly worthwhile. I've found trade chat useful when I'm looking for something specific (certain unique items, level XX sword with XXXX attributes, etc), or when I'm trying to sell certain popular gems but beyond that it's chaos. I always end up with a whole stash tab full of cool leveling gear / just nice stuff that I'd love to sell but I just end up vendoring it eventually.

Yep. And they could even profit off of it too. Sell stash tabs which are for shops. Right? I mean, to me it just seems so simple they're silly not to do it.

I just checked out the feedback section on PoE's forums, apparently GGG has said they're working on something similar to this.

I sure hope so!

I found one of these yesterday (http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Wideswing) and it's making the leveling process hilarious fun. Just using leapslam and I'm smashing mobs so easily.

As for trading, I just trade for what I want/need for a build I am running or want to run. My goal has never been to "be rich", it's always been the next character since I actually enjoy playing the game. I've never really understood why anyone would just play one character other than maybe a ladder race scenario, but even then it's good to have alts if for no other reason than changing it up now and again.

I usually play one character until i finish the build, or hit a brick wall. When it comes to hitting that brick wall, a trading solution would really help overcome it.

That's a sweet unique though. That would be a fun leveling weapon. Damn you get lots of uniques lol.

There is a pretty good trading solution available now - and has been for a long time. It's called http://poe.xyz.is Put in the filters you want, hit search and it brings up links to stuff for sale in the forum. It even tells you if the seller is online in game. Go check out the item and see what price they are asking. Then hop into the game and send them a pm with an offer.

It may not be as "easy" or fast as an unmanned auction house but it does work and you can find what you are looking for.

I just want whatever the solution is to be IN the game. I would have enjoyed the D3 AH a lot more had it been accessible through an in-game NPC. It just breaks the flow when you have to alt tab or log out in order to trade.

I actually tried to use that site for the first time the other day and didn't have any luck price checking things. Unless its a very expensive item, people weren't putting up prices.

Oh, I didn't mean that trading was fine as-is or anything, I was more commenting on the "trading is the game" discussion. The game absolutely needs a better trading system, but I am also against anything that can be automated; it can't be anything that turns into a "'power users' buy up everything good with a few clicks and control the market" situation. If it's too centralized and too easy then you might as well just hand the keys over to botters and call it a day.

And yes, I don't know how or why but I've been on a sick roll for finding uniques so far, although I'm not rolling in top-tier uniques or anything. I even found a 4L Shiversting earlier off a rogue exile in A3 (putting the dual-claw on hold and leveling a different one for a Facebreaker build).

Trade chat isn't very efficient in selling things. Just link some gg rares in chat for a stupid low price and 98.32691% of the time nobody will even look at them. In my opinion fthe poe trade forums is the only way to sell anything.

Is there a quick way to export certain stash tabs into a thread on the forums?

How do people get all their gear linked and shit?

i find the in-game functions of procurement lacking. The only they would be useful is playing in a window with the sole purpose of trading, not playing.

Now that I'm starting to get into this Facebreaker build I'm seeing how nuts the damage could probably get. Had a ring that added 8-16 physical damage and it took my DPS from 240 to 440. Now I want to find some high ilvl iron rings to use some alts on...

Found it off Oak in Cruel IIRC:

Tabula Rasa
isn't really great late game, but it certainly makes leveling more interesting haha. My Facebreaker dude has been leveling with Infernal Blow + Melee Splash + Endurance Charge on Melee Strike + Cast on Melee Kill + Discharge (and whatever else I see fit for the 6th) and it's been insane.

Need to start over, would it be worthwhile to ask for a guild invite even though I'm starting straight from scratch?

This game is better than all the goatsh*t disappointing nextgen titles that just came out, and it only weighs in at a 4 gig download from steam and has endless hours of fun AND ITS FREE... Gaming done right!!! Thank you awesome game studio. I gotta say this and Splinter Cell blacklist were the most fun I've had gaming this year.
