Man Buys Picture Of An Xbox One On eBay for $730

Stupid seller, stupid buyer.. And is that guy seriously 19 years old. If I had to guess, I'd say he's about 32..

Does ebay make you use paypal in the UK and if so, do they not offer recourse in this situation?

I suppose if the seller can show that something was delivered to a verified address ebay will just wash their hands of it but ebay can yank the funds from the seller and should be able to make it right - they care to. Big "if", I suppose.

If he used pay pal then idiot boy will get his money back but when you sell stuff like that on eb they make throw away accounts and they pull the money asap. My hope is man boy gets no money back and criminal charges are brought on the seller.

Do they have ITT Tech in Britian ?........If not I'll go over and set up campuses for them. This guy and the many like him need the 'Education and Mentoring' :D

What a dump fuck, he shouldn't get his money back, read the description better!

Also, why get it at Ebay when you can buy it at a shop or at the very least a regular online store at regular price?

*oh oh, must get console...can't wait, must have now!!!

Am I correct that the UK price(Amazon) is about $430 pounds for it? Never just checked...

XBOX ONE BOX

FULL RETAIL PACKAGING

SHIPPING WEIGHT 2lbs.

WDF did they think they were going to get from my auction, didnt even include system spec? :p

How in the world does anyone fall for this any more? Seriously, this lame scam has been a favorite on eBay for over a decade. Yes, there is a picture of the guy.

What is sad is that he admits he saw that it said "photo" and thought it was suspicious. And then he still bought it anyway. All he can really claim is they sent him a bad photo and they need to send a good one.

Here is the real issues. Ebay will continue to let this guy and others scam folks. Nothing will be done but the refund. Ebay makes money no matter what happens or what is being sold. They got it so good the hit you with two charges, one for Ebay and then one for Paypal.

Yah, I got burned for $500 for a korean IPS paypal and ebay were zero help despite me having a no-loss case.

Deceptive auction description. Anyone who has bought a newly released item on Ebay expects a photo to confirm product is in hand. Blame the scammer and not the victim.

Agreed. The description was nonexistent, save for the heading, which was about it. Then there was the product pic, but nothing more. I don't think it was an obvious scam, and the poor schmuck got conned.

I would like to be the first one to call for the most communist idea ever to be instituted.

The parental aptitude test.

If you fail twice you get your breeding bits fed to a random carnivore at the zoo.

That's the opposite of communist. A communist government requires as many dependent voters as possible so they would WANT the dumbest people to procreate and create thousands of low information voters to help keep them in power.

Communism is usually supported by a dominate party government as that's really the only kind that can reliably enact the level of changes communism requires, but a highly informed democratic/republic government using communism is quite viable as communism is like a set of policies to remove things such as class, not anything in direct opposition to democracy.

You're just pointing out people given total power tend to want to keep that power. Same could be said of any ruling class including republics.

Let's not revisit eugenics. It didn't go well last time around.
Its more or less scientific fact now that the genotypic average IQ as a global average is declining, since the least intelligent tend to have the most children and visa versa. Likewise, the advent of modern healthcare means that the genetically weak can still procreate and in fact are quite prolific.

Look at the Belgian Blue breed of cow. They are ungodly muscular, and yet its completely natural genetics accomplished over a very short period of time by always breeding the most muscular of cattle over several generations. In short order you have super cows.

Humans are just mammals like any other, and likewise if you have a breeding program in which those of least intelligence contribute greatest to the gene pool, its absolutely unavoidable that future generations will be less and less intelligent.

I don't think that anyone truly believes that eugenics can improve the health and vitality of the human race, but the problem is who is in charge of quantifying what is and isn't desirable. So its not the concept of eugenics that is the problem, we know for a fact we could selectively breed smarter healthier future generations with proper selection, its that we don't have a government we can trust with running such a program.

But without it as societies safety nets with social welfare and Obamacare and the like increase while dumber and dumber people have more and more children, decay of the gene pool in the absence of "survival of the fittest" is unavoidable. Its how evolution works.

BTW, Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, and even inventor of your favorite corn flakes breakfast treat were all staunch supporters of eugenics, yet people act like this was some idea that only Hitler supported.

Humans don't follow modern evolutionary theory, hasn't been true since man lived in caves. You even say so in your post that social aspects change stressors, so why say it's how evolution works.

Eugenics was also very popular in "colonies" really cults in the 1970's. Churchill and Teddy Roosevelt were also known racists. Theodore Roosevelt believed black people were inherently inferior to the white man, but he also believed that the innate inferiority could be overcome in exceptional black men(which btw just means he's just less racist the the south at the time).

I'm sorry something like that happened to you. It is amazing how many ES are on Ebay listed for sale. I but from Ebay but it is small stuff. Never a large amount of cash in a item there. If you look at a lot of the people's feedback they have a large amount of negative feed backs but continue to sale. I believe once you hit X amount of negative feed backs Your account should be lock and not allowed to sale anything else there. Proven the feed back is legit and not some mad person that found a better deal type thing.

Yah, I got burned for $500 for a korean IPS paypal and ebay were zero help despite me having a no-loss case.

This is what is sad about most americans is they are just use credit cards and create more debt they will never pay. I am one of only all I know that actually own my home, cars, computers etc with no credit debt. Sadly america is going to be shut down soon by china and russia etc.

Sadly you can't even click the link or read the thread to find out this guy is from the UK and seller is UK.

I laughed so hard when I read that comment. LOL!

Nonsense, evolution is the progression of a gene pool to promote traits that lead to highest reproduction.

In the past, the smarter, stronger, faster, and immunologicaly healthier person would outlive and out-compete the weaker and have more children with a higher life expectancy rate. Since there are no longer really any fitness stressors, all that matters is what traits are leading to higher birth rates. Currently those of the lowest intelligence are having the most children, and evolution demands that when you concentrate this trait the species will evolve accordingly.

Just like with the Belgian Blue, if we constantly bred only the skinniest cows with no fear of predators and gave them stringent healthcare and other helping hands, you could have virtual skeleton cows straining to stand.

All species follow modern evolutionary theory, there are no exceptions. PERIOD. The only thing that has changed is what quality is producing more children (now stupidity) and what stressors are there on survival (very little, since a handful of intelligent people over the centuries have devised methods for ensuring the survival of the incompetent/infirm).

Take a step back and look at why sharks are so important to the health and vitality of marine ecosystems. There is no problem with fish overpopulation, as we can consume virtually limitless quantities from advanced fishing practices. The problem however is that human fishing is not discriminatory, the strongest and fittest fish are caught in the nets along with the... well... retard fish. Sharks on the other hand in their hunts single out the old, weak, and defective fish and in doing so they strengthen the gene pools and thus general health of their environments. No marine biologist worth a damn will deny this, and yet this same logic somehow seems to escape many when it comes to humans.

Now don't get me wrong, there is a difference between intelligence and education, but there is also a genetic factor. Someone with the genes of a twig man is not going to get body builder huge through exercise, anymore than someone with the genes of a line of village idiots is going to write a book on quantum theory by really paying attention in class.

Who am I? Where do I come from? Is this physical body all that I am? Is there a higher power? Is there life after death? Are there other beings in the universe asking the same questions?

I think these questions form the basis of the human soul, the human spirit. As a result we developed science and religion. We are now in the time of Christmas, where one of those great religions recognizes the birth of the Son of God as a man bought here to save man from himself. I think this is what makes us fundamentally different for other life on this planet, at least to our current ability to recognize. Indeed the human spirit resists classification, specification and being reduced to a genetic pattern.

Humans aren't exempt from evolution no matter how much people try to deny it. The fact that allergies and general "problems" are becoming more and more rampant are the early warning signs that we cannot continue to sustain the weakest being allowed to "out breed" the strongest. The reality is the "Strong" and bear in mind I refer not only to physical strength here, developed religions to control the weak. Unfortunately that is not starting to backfire as the practices put in place for control are going to be our genetic undoing.

I believe in evolution. If you look at it from a political standpoint, it's those "weak" liberals that tend to embrace human science these days. However this sounds of eugenics, and being a Star Trek fan, I think that such a conflict would lead to far more destruction than problem solution.

A fool and his money are soon parted, a 19 year old fool purchasing a new X-box one for a 4 year old deserves everything he gets.

Should have read the add better.

WOW I suppose they sent a tracking number to confirm the shipment so it's legit that way.

...We are now in the time of Christmas, where one of those great religions recognizes the birth of the Son of God as a man bought here to save man from himself. I think this is what makes us fundamentally different for other life on this planet, at least to our current ability to recognize...

Indeed, that does make us very different, in a bad way. No other species of this earth invents artificial beings to try to explain that which they do not possess knowledge of. To me it's very disheartening that as a species we still cling to ideas formed during our intellectual infancy. The Christian God belongs up on a shelf with all of the other made up Gods such as Zeus, Thor, and Osiris.

Why learn when you can just say, "God did it!". :(

Loser 19 year old should put the picture in a box, draw a big X on it, and give it to his kid with a note inside that says "I would have gotten you an xbox one, but daddy was too stupid to read". This kid is nothing but the american equivalent of white trash. He's 19, has a 4 year old, instead of buying things he needs with his own money he buys things he doesn't need.

This is the UK - I guarantee you that the child is on some form of public assistance because he was retarded and got someone pregnant at 14/15. Sadly that's increasingly normal over there, young kids having kids and just living off the system. We all know where it's going to go, total collapse.

It's messed up how multiple societies are tolerating failure, mediocrity, laziness, drug abuse. Our tolerance is going to be our own undoing. You can look at almost any facet of modern society and see where it's leading to messed up things happening.

Drunk drivers can kill someone serve a year or two and be out on the street only to rack up the same offense over and over.

We reward the lazy and the weak with money for pumping out MORE children.

Can't pass your class or the tests? It's okay, we will give you an exception because you are "Special".

Didn't win the little league soccer game? it's okay here is a trophy anyway even though you sucked.

The world is becoming nothing but a "yes man" towards the up and coming generation. I'd love to see people to require a license to breed. Their right to pump out babies and not care is costing everyone else, and overall it's costing the human race.

So this thread has gone from discussing an idiot buying a photo of an X-Box One to a being about eugenics, politics, evolution, and of course it wouldn't be complete without someone predictably taking a cheap shot at religion (Christianity of course. Mohammad, Buddha, and Vishnu get a pass again). All we're missing is some bashing of the Tea Party and some conservative-liberal arguing and it will be like every other thread that starts on the front page.

While it may not be illegal to try to fool people into buying something other than what they're actually getting, it is a despicable behavior. Unfortunately, there are lots of despicable people out there. Ranks right up there with fast food merchants that sell 32 ounce cups full of ice and 3 ounces of actual soda for 3 bucks. Just nasty, rotten people, who make the world suck; their tombstone should read, "here lies a real bastard. He made the world a more rotten place to live in".

"Xbox One Fifa Day One Edition, Photo Brand New UK 2013"

The title is the only place where Photo is mentioned. It did not say "Photo of Xbox One...." Clearly deceptive, in which a bit of carelessness could have readily missed.

As for eugenics, proponents never see themselves as part of the weak or stupid in need of culling.

It's not? I think blatantly deceptive marketing is illegal in many countries.

Wow, thanks for the link..I don't watch much TV, and cannot stand JJ's voice since my Grandmother used to watch it every day when I lived with her for a few months in order to finish out my school year before moving back to join my family in the summer..

I gotta say though, that was very entertaining, and she really embarrassed that fat Cow, who happens to have 3 kids (had to throw that in since this thread is all about everything but eBay scamming and all ;))..

You idiots the auction title is wrong:

"Xbox One Fifa Day One Edition, Photo Brand New UK 2013"

it doesn't say it's a photo, it says it's a Xbox One Fifa Day One Edition and that Photo is Brand new. The idiot seller worded it wrong and commited fraud.

I don't think people understand the comma anymore.

"Xbox One Photo, Brand New" and "Xbox One, Photo Brand New" are two really different things.

Let's not revisit eugenics. It didn't go well last time around.

If you believe in the animal part of us, eugenics is being practiced in a reverse fashion.

As animals humans are having no trouble selecting partners with desirable traits. And then they are having maybe one child. Of course those humans who sit lower on the genetic ladder are matching up with their chosen equals and reproducing like fucking rabbits.

The species is doomed.
