(Compatibility Settings)

Has any one also noticed any other show stoppers.

I gave it a try and liked it but after a day, started getting sites that wouldn't display properly and 2 that wouldn't display at all. Almost like just plain text. Back to Chrome now.

Worst still-- many websites do not detect IE 11 properly and will revert to a mobile website for the browser such as m.space.com.

Reading around, you have to go into Developer Tools (press F12) and then under Emulation (bottommost icon), select a User agent string and Document mode. IE 11's Compatible Mode does not work for many websites especially those that "believe" IE 11 doesn't exist and revert to some other version of the website.

lol, great interoperability there MS!

I haven't seen any compatibility problems when using IE11 for home use, but I don't use it very often.

Seriously, MS should just give up on Internet Explorer.

Just removed IE11 from my aunts computer. She denies installing it, probably it came with windows update. Can't say if it was related or not but it coincided with the machine starting to randomly get extremely slow bootup times which is why she brought it over. IE11 was the only thing the machine had new compared to the last time it was over.

IE 11 was a bust for me at work too. I tried it on my laptop (i5/8GB RAM) and it would eventually peg my CPU at 100% and cause everything to be completely unresponsive and require me to reboot. The only thing I use IE for is JDE E1. I uninstalled it and all was good.

I agree. It's a damn shame because most of us remember when that browser was great giving Netscape a run for its money. Once they conquered Netscape they just sat around for what feels like a decade never releasing something improved or doing anything. At this point it's time they go the route of Netscape. I haven't noticed any major differences since IE8 > IE11 so it now just feels like they're trying to play the numbers game much like the way FF/Chrome are, but at least they are constantly improving and not breaking shit from their previous releases.

They'll never give up on IE simply because now the base code is built-in to Windows itself.

Seriously, all this IE 11 hate, because Microsoft went the standards compliant way? Wow, never thought I'd see that...

The hate has nothing to do with MS going standards compliant naturally. It's about them breaking their own software which was built on the old non-standard crapware.

I've seen a few issues with IE11. Adding the trouble site to compatibility view list has always fixed it.

One of my companys largest clients is redeploying 8.1 which rolls out IE11... when ADP, the payroll system doesn't play well with it.... IETab for Chrome FTW.

I will grab popcorn as everything from slow start up to failed marriages is blamed on IE11.

I absolutely hate that I am forced to use IE at work. Never cared for it and it's always slow or full of errors. I'll take FF or Chrome anyday of the week...

The IE 11 tablet version is garbage but the regular IE is ok. Have problems loading like comments sections on youtube.

Are you running it in desktop mode or in the metro mode? Most things that i've had problems with dont work in metro mode but do work if i'm in the desktop. I've used IE11 with no problem with the current version of OWA, but never tried it on any older version

IE11 breaks Windows Gadgets from what I've read. Shows a messed up pink outline/background.

IE11 still doesn't support LastPass. We have an internal site at work to display logs which can get quite big. IE is the only browser that often hangs on that site. I don't maintain it so I don't know if the site uses some weird old code.

And you're surprised?

I'm not. I've seen these reported as known issues. I don't think Windows 8.1 or IE11 were quite ready to go. I use them anyway because I am too lazy to roll back, but I hope some patches fix some of this stuff soon. 8,1 is causing lcokups/freezes/BSODs on a machine that ran fine with 7 and 8. :(

I've not had any problems with LastPass. Probably a combination of a specific compatibility issue and a site specific one.

Umm, it is up to the code developer to support IE11 as well. Also, I have found emulation mode to take care of most issues. Sound like the site developer is setting strings expecting certain browsers and when it doesn't find it, craps out. Well, go ahead, keep bashing.

Even if that's the case, Microsoft's JavaScript engine and/or its supporting facilities would be to blame here, not the LastPass developers. JavaScript should never be able to crash the entire browser, regardless of what you do with it.

Anyone still using IE after all its history of getting exploited should be kicked in the nuts.

IE is a modern and secure browser these days. It has a proper security model, and a proper sandbox. But again, some might call me biased.

The OP...constantly bash MS...refuse to use anything but MS.

Seriously, IE can DIAF. I have to use it for Sharepoint, but beyond that use it for nothing anymore. It just feels clunkier. Chrome is really all I can stand, Firefox has turned into fatfox lately.

Any statement that mentions kicking millions of men in the genitals is biased. I wouldn't worry if I were you.

If voice of reason is called bias then yes call me biased. Nothing good has EVER come out of IE. Ever.

That isn't true. IE11 at the very least has the smoothest scrolling performance of any current browser.

I can't think of anything else notable, but that doesn't matter terribly.

So IE being offered for for no additional charge when others were charging is nothing good? Absolute statements almost never represent reason or non-biases. And while I understand you don't care for Windows 8 with tablets IE is currently the only browser that has any semblance of touch friendliness on Windows touch devices.

I use IE11 and Firefox, I had multiple problems with IE but none with Firefox.

IE11 problems:
Not compatible with websites(banking, school, etc)
Starts up slowly
Frequently stops responding.

Yes, IE being the numero uno source of attacks and infections was a horrible thing to be included in the OS. Definately fail on MS behalf, especially considering the God awful mess it brought with non standards compliance and applications that were built on it instead of being standards compliant. A problem of which companies are STILL suffering today even though IE has finally managed to limp forward in progress to year 1998 or so lol. The irony is that now even companies that used IE and participated in the problem, now get fucked again by MS when it decided it was time for IE to be compliant and masquerade as a real browser, breaking their own apps in the process!

The only usefulness of IE has always been the ability to download an alternative browser. Unfortunately for years IE still had to remain with its vulnerabilities even if you used a safer browser.

Can't middle click to open in a new tab( in-steads it act like a left click) and can't find the option to enable it.
