My computer shows a black screen and no beeps when I boot it up. See my signature for the specs.
I've tried to reset the cmos and took out the little battery. I took out the 640mb GTS 8800 video card and boot up with no beep. I took out the OCZ Reaper 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz ram sticks and replaced them with my old Ballistiks backup sticks and no beep. Nine fans seem to be spinning and working.

I have not tried to replace the power supply. My conclusion is that the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R mobo is dead.

I've already bought parts for a 2013 gaming computer build but I would like to try and get this current setup working again and give the computer to my dad. Any suggestions on an alternative mobo for my setup? I don't want to spend too much money on the mobo though.

Suggestions would much be appreciated!

There are probably G41 combo DDR2/DDR3 boards still around.

Did you reassemble the PC outside of the case ( with the motherboard on top of a box) and started it up with the screwdriver method?

IIRC, those ballistix required high voltage. do you have any lower voltage sticks you could try?

Hmm. I did everything with the mobo still in the case. Was I suppose to take the mobo out of the case put the jumper wire on the CMOS reset and hit the power button to reset it?

brb. I'm going to try and reset it again.

Let's say a transistor or capacitor or something fried on the mobo, would it be easy to use a dmm to find the bad part and just replace the part from digikey?

I've just followed the test guide and have done everything except the remove cpu part and psu swap. so far no error beeps.

I have an AC/DC clamp meter. is there a way to just clamp my psu to see if it's good?

I"m starting to wonder if it's the Mobo or CPU because I did overclock (stable with temps under 65 degrees during prime95) the Q6600 to 3.0-3.2 Ghz for a while and I've had the chip for ~6 years.

update:

It was the EVGA GTS 8800 640mb graphics card that was faulty. I threw it in the oven for about 315 degrees for 10 minutes and left it in there for cool down for about 30 minutes. I then reseated the heatsink and everything works now.

Note that it's probably only a short term fix. My two (one eVGA and one PNY) rebaked 8800GT cards only lasted about a month or two before they re-exhibited the same issues. Each successive rebake that I did after the first rebake had shorter and shorter times of full functionality before it to got to the point where it didn't help all that much.
