AMD R9 Series + Battlefield 4 Promotion: Official Q & A

Sapphire e-mailed me a code within 12 hrs of opening a ticket, but when I tried to redeem it at www.AMD.com/getbattlefield4 the site said the code had already be redeemed. Then I contacted Sapphire again and they told me to open a ticket with AMD, so I did. AMD said they provided the card manufactures with the codes for the promotions and if they issued me an invalid code, they should issue me a new valid code. Again, I contacted Sapphire and again, they told me it was AMD's problem. So I sent them another e-mail stating that if they don't provide me with a valid code, I will return the card and buy from a different manufacture that honors their promotions.

How did you open a case with AMD? I've been looking at their website and can't find a way to "open a case" with them.

used twitter of all places, to get the email of someone that works there and emailed them directly. and provided a picture of both cards and packing slips, and my address.

To those of you who got BF4 with your cards: is it the regular edition or Deluxe edition? I'd never heard anything about it being the Deluxe edition save for a guru3D review of one of these cards, which mentions it a number of times. Assuming guru is wrong.

What makes it a deluxe edition?

Interesting. I'll have to tweet them today and see what happens.

Wow, what a hassle. :(

last update, RMA'd card for refund and bought an XFX. Hopefully I will get to play BF4 next week.

The Gigabyte 290x I received included, according to Battlelog, the deluxe edition.

For such a sensible guy Magoo, I really, really cannot understand how you seem to fail to grasp the "reason" I am upset..

The press releases state that the BF4 inclusions are special editions. The game didnt magically appear in the box just because it was after midnight on the 13th.
I think thats taking it way too literally and is unrealistic.
There is a disconnect somewhere, but to call out Sapphire and AMD is a bit much.

The initial press release said nothing of the sort. Every major tech site showed an AMD provided slide that showed which cards included BF4..and it included the entire R9 Family. PERIOD. There were no mentions of "special editions" or "select SKUs" or other bullshit..That didn't come until AMD saw the shit storm they caused and someone in Marketing whipped up that PR claiming the above..Why in the hell do you think they had the very thing listed in the FAQ (I quoted it above) if it were spelled out so clearly?

Yes, I have read the thread and understand your point.
But look.....the game codes are on a scratch-off card inside the box.....placed when shipped at the factory or when the retail outer sleeve of the box was placed.
A retailer would have no way to do that.
How do you expect this midnight event on the 13th to happen? Santa's elves?
You really took this way too literally.

Wrong. Going forward, that seems to be AMD's plan in the "revised press release", but the initial offerings were from codes provided by the AIB's..XFX and others, including Sapphire were supposed to provide them @ registration. Others have confirmed this from both the AIB's and AMD...They both just blame the other and pass the buck.

Look, I bought the 20 dollar premium 290X and now the game is being given away for free.....oh well. I got a 60 dollar game for 20. Life goes on.

What does that have to do with this thread exactly? You knew EXACTLY what you were getting ahead of time. You willing chose to pay the extra money for the BF4 edition, to get a "$60 game for $20" as you put it. Are you upset about that fact and is that why you seem to take an issue with those of us that waited to order our completely different GPUs until after AMD announced that we would be getting a $60 game for free?

The proper remedy is going to have to be through AMD accepting and reviewing retail receipts and issuing electronic keys, if they choose to do anything at all.......it's not the retailers fault.

Someone needs to accept responsibility for the cluster fuck this has become, that is for damn sure. The fact that AMD decided that they would just offer 1000 free keys to random people as a proper response to those of us that spent money on their products expecting to get the game is like them spitting in our face. They don't want to reward their "loyal fans" that spent money, but they will gladly reward the FB addicts that "follow" their marketing page..I am sure that .00001% of them will be happy they get a free game, if AMD even follows through on that.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yea, I was looking at R9 290s last night and got really confused. I thought I saw that all 290s and 290Xs would get BF4. I ordered some 290s and then looked and saw that they did not in fact bundle BF4 with it so I had to look around and specifically get versions from AIBs that have BF4. If I wasnt double checking stuff I would have missed it.

Exactly...It is sad that even after their quick PR re-spin you (the consumer) still have to double and triple check which model you are getting, and that it includes the game.:rolleyes:

I am glad you caught the mistake though. It is an insane hassle to RMA things unless you get them from Amazon, which up until recently had the R9 290s priced insanely high compared to NE and everyone else. I would have loved to order my cards from Amazon, but I wasn't willing to pay $65~80 over MSRP at the time.

Purchased 2x XFX R9 290s from TigerDirect via Amazon on Nov 7 - the non BF4 editions - registered the cards moments ago - with the November 7th purchase date, and got 2 Bf4 codes when was expecting nothing. Just another +1 for XFX - and for those who purchased from them to double check to make sure you may have gotten the codes as well..

Now to find people interested in them as I have already spent $110 on this game.... Ugh... If only I had known...

I do love the card, but not happy at all with how AMD handled it.
