Need Wireless Router / AP With Pgysical Wireless On/Off Switch

Hi, gang:

I have been driving myself crazy trying to find a wireless router/AP that is immune to WPS exploits AND has a physical on/off switch for its wireless function.

Most units have an on/off power switch, but I need the ethernet ports and the rest of the device to stay working at all times, as other devices will connect through this box.

It wouldn't hurt if the box also had decent wireless performance ), but now that I've moved the Roku to ethernet, the wireless in my house is there to support a tablet or two -- that's about it.

I want to be able to disable wireless entirely to cut down on microwave pollution, reduce potential interference (to my amateur radio stuff), etc.

Until I can acquire something a bit more robust, I'll be using a D-Link DGL-4100 as my main router.

Well, you could setup a dedicated wap on an on/off timer to follow a schedule, however, that isn't an on/off switch.

I guess perhaps you could open one up and make a switch if you are handy with an iron?

I did a little digging and discovered that Netgear WNDR3400 and WNDR4300 routers have a pushbutton wireless on/off switch...and it looks like both models can run DD-WRT without too much hassle. The 4300 has gigabit ports, which makes the 3400 look pretty ridiculous for NOT having them, too

Both models have FRAKKING WPS pushbuttons (hate 'em), which makes them at least somewhat vulnerable to WPS PIN exploits such as Reaver...but DD-WRT eliminates that...

I may have to buy a 4300 at Target (90-day return) to see if it's usable. At $99 it's a bit more than I'd like to spend...but the $8 "two year no matter what" extended warranty is worth considering... Over the years, Netgear consumer networking products haven't exactly given me a warm glow of confidence...but it if works, it works.
