Fuck me right? Turn it on, its on for a few minutes, starts beeping, red line of death. Tried updating via usb stick, cant stay on long enough to even finish the update.

When I turn it on, I get zero fan noise, and feel nothing out the back. Looks like the fan is 100% dead?

You can buy mine, just $600

welcome to the 1% of electronics that are busted out of the box. Thank god for 30 day waranty right ? ;)

ive got it running with a fan pointed at the vents. at least I can play until my RMA one gets here. on hold 1.5 hrs so far :p

You can extend the warranty via the Playstation Store to 36 months for $50. Pretty nice deal if you are that worried about a problem.

Probably UPS dropped kicked it. Did Amazon pad it well or do they just let it rattle inside another box like they normally do? When they shipped my tablet they put it inside an unpadded book box and most of the corners of the original box were dented. Unless it's significantly cheaper to worth the risk I'd buy electronics locally since they usually ship bulk on pallet to Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc.

My box came with the top taped ripped and almost open. The inside was air pillows on top of the PS4. So, really, no protection at all.

Mine came with tons of padding , air pillows galore and well secured. Sony BARELY packs it tightly. Its not even suspended in foam between its partitions. The box itself is pretty thin and not very study for shipping. I would rate Sony's stock packing at around a 6/10. Passable but not secure enough in my opinion. I bet if someone took pics of the current way its being packed and compared them to freshly shipped units 6 months from now .. that Sony would have added more padding to the console.

I bet a lot of the errors people experience could be from damage to the HDD. Frankly while the casing is fine , its not rock solid. Its more plastic this time around and while the drive cage is fully secured I can imagine its a tad flimsy being surrounded by plastic casing that could easily flex inward and cause some kind of heavy g impact with the way shipping companies treat their items.

While the PS4 looks like a really slick piece of hardware (far better looking than the PS3 , especially the launch PS3) Sony has obviously sacrificed built quality (not in terms of hardware design) for horsepower. I think its worked out well for them so far. Even if you are seeing some people who are running into errors , I would say that the number of which is quite a bit lower than the 360 launch. I remember threads on some forums stretching over a 1000 pages of complaints , many from overheating. I do not see the PS4 having an issue with heat frankly , its got a nice steady airflow. Only under very poor conditions surrounding the console (crammed into an unventilated hole inside of a home theater cabinet) could I imagine it actually having a problem.

Regardless of our feelings on "Resolutiongate" its something people are constantly bringing up. Its even being brought up among the layman who has been sold on a huge marketing campaign of "1080p or ELSE ITS SHIT!".

You would think Sony could choose another color besides red, mainly due to recent console history ;)

If your console is overheating within a few minutes of using it, it's obviously a manufacturing defect and not a design defect.

Any one with a dead system where did you get yours my friend got his at Wal-Mart it still works.

Also anyone think Microsoft or Amazon is sabotaging the ps4? I'm beginning to think it is a possibility.

How would Microsoft sabotage the console? They can't get to them... so are you suggesting that MS paid off Amazon to purposefully damage consoles? That would never happen. MS wouldn't be dumb enough to even propose it. And if they were, Amazon has nothing to gain from it. They are a neutral third party that will benefit most from strong sales of both platforms.

lol?

Well, sony claims that they sold 1m units on the first day, and some other sources were stating that amazon could account for 60% of the total preorder units@ USA, so it wouldn't be strange that if there is an issue it would appear prominently on amazon sold ones.

So, in other words, it isn't Amazon's fault.

RLoD = instant return, chances are that it is something silly as "the fan isn't plugged (this has actually been reported as one of the issues so far), but you must take advantage of the warranty and never void it.

There's a new story out. Some of the interns who (were forced to) worked on the PS4 assembly lines said they sabotaged many consoles and that other than powering it on you won't be able to do anything with it.

“Since foxconn are not treating us well, we will not treat ps4 console well,” the student had said. “The ps4 console we assemble can be turned on at best.”

That is a serious issue =)

36 hour days and 5 minute breaks

I guess those reports could be substantiated if there are PS4 units out there with physical damage to the casing straight from the factory.

There is nothing I would hate more than to have some asshole's bodily fluids on my hardware.

You guys should read the comments, that story is not substantiated and is a rumor.
The original post was locked on IGN

It would not surprise me if it was sabotage. Also Microsoft put up a congratulations to Sony on the launch. It looked very sarcastic that is why I suspect ms having a hand in it.

If there is any truth to that Foxconn story Foxconn stands to lose a lot. Microsoft xbone is being made in the same factory with a similar apu. Nearly all electronics made today are made in a Foxconn factory. And it is China so what consequences could they face execution? Getting fired out of a canon? Imprisoned?

Are you serious? WTF! There was nothing sarcastic in major nelsons tweet.

Seriously where the hell do people like this come from.

Anything made by man is going to have issues this is a high profile item of course we will hear every story of a bad one and very few good reports.

it could be true... but why the focus on sony when there is 100's of other company outsourcing stuff there.

Can anyone else comment without a prejudice opinion or conspiracy theories. I don't post often but would like to know the community's thoughts...hope that's not all that is talked about now....
