First impressions: The UPS guy was really excited for me and had a big smile on his face and the box is pretty nice I guess.

Other thoughts: I still haven't connected it and Destiny needs to hurry the fuck up.

Well, for many people, it is that nice. Not everyone has a high end PC, particularly since the days of MS Office requiring new hardware are long gone. For many people, the PS3 was their high end gaming system, and the PS4 is a major step up. I love my Honda Accord because I'll never be able to afford that Maserati GranTurismo.

Well that's just it, it's not like it was in the 80's...good PC's are much easier to build than they used to be, and they're also cheaper. It doesn't take much cash to build a PC that's better than any console on the market, PS4 and Xbox One included. That said, I don't really compare my consoles with my gaming PC, I consider them two totally different things...they each have their place.

I'm buying NBA 2K14 , looks freaking amazing and I haven't played a sports game in awhile.

Side Note : I can easily imagine someone with a very basic PC and a 360 and/or PS3 being absolutely blow away with the PS4 and I'm sure the One. The interface is just very polished and snappy. Something people without powerful PC gaming rigs really have yet to experience.

Uploading to Facebook is totally flawless. Its fast to , it saturated my 75 Mbps upload speed. Uploaded inside of 2 minutes , 10:13 minute video. Its limited to 720p but for sharing purposes its completely fine. If you need a higher quality share then you can use an external capture solution. People don't seem to be having any HDCP blocks for streaming on Twitch.

Question, doe anyone have a picture of the popped up metal piece that might cause an issue?

fyi, i dont think the metal issue is that common, but i had to hold the power button for 10 seconds to get it to default the video output.

Haven't purchased any retail games, because I didn't feel like spending the money and I have PS+... so since I can't get Warframe downloaded I popped in The Matrix after updating. I'm annoyed, but half expected there to be the oh-so-typical network issues.

It might not be but if you don't actually know to look out for it you could risk damage to the port and since the HDMI port is all you get then it basically cripples the system. Watching that guy on Twitch on Wed night leads me to believe that most people simply don't understand how to trouble shoot.

Very few people who are buying a PS4 actually surf forums like these and Neogaf , so they might not be aware of the issue.

Its a console launch. All modern launches had issues and now that we are tying into the Internet for everything its pretty reasonable to expect problems.

But compared to the RROD issues that plagued the Xbox 360 launch I would still call this a big win for Sony.

Lame selection of games right now so I have no interest. Call me when Uncharted comes out.

RROD problems didn't start until well after launch. Was at least a year before it was an issue.

It's so quiet. The actual PS4 felt sturdy, the controller not so much. It doesn't feel bad, just not much heft. PSN is down. :(

and this is awesome, mine is DOA. it wont stay online long enough to even install the update. just starts beeping, red line, and off.

PSN has been down all day for me, which sucks because I can't even load my profile :(

I love the DS4 controller, it is amazing and I like it better than the xbox controllers. There is only one controller that I like more than the DS4 and that is the original xbox Duke controller lol but I have big hands. I wish the DS4 was actually a tad larger, but I am sure aftermarket grips will come out soon to help me out with that.

I bought three games:
Killzone - I am not overly impressed with yet because single player is capped at 30fps and shooters capped at 30fps rape my eyes. I am hoping multiplayer with its 60fps helps me out, otherwise its getting traded

Madden 25- I am actually happy with next gen madden. I like the step up to 1080p and the new animations and footwork are nice. I have resigned myself to the fact that EA is incapable of producing a full physics based, non canned animation, football game a long time ago so I was fully braced not to be overhyped for M25 next gen.

NBA2K14! HOLY COOOOOW! The graphics and fluidity of NBA2k14 are un-friggin believable and I am not a basketball fan at all. In fact, I can't really stand basketball....it bores me, but the graphics and gameplay have sucked me into the create a character career. This game was my wild card choice in Targets 2 for 1 deal and it is AMAZING. So glad I picked this up!

First impression? First impression is Amazon sucks. Last time I ever preorder anything through them. Launch day delivery guarantee? Right. Mine is just MIA, Amazon says they shipped, UPS says Amazon never gave them a package. Amazon tells me it's lost and I may see it sometime next week and gives me a free month of effing Prime. That's it. Supervisor and all. Nothing. They had no answer for my request of what the word Guarantee means to Amazon. Yes I am butthurt.

For real though, I spend at least 15k a year at Amazon personally and my business at least another 50k, not that it matters to them, but that is definitely going down for how they handled this. They truly acted as if it was no big deal.

What do you guys think of Remote Play? For those who have tried it, is your PS4 wired or wireless?

You're joking right? RROD has been a problem with how the console was soldered from DAY ONE. It just didn't become a big deal in the media until people started to notice the massive amount of repairs Microsoft was having to do. My console RROD after 3 weeks when I first bought it ( I owned 6 in total including the one I still have. 4 of them failed from RROD and 2 of those were repaired by MS at my expense before the $1 Billion dollar repair program came into reality). I had it off the floor completely isolated from other electronics and my room was around 65F. No way in hell it was anything else other than the typical cause of a RROD ..excessive continual heat.

All you had to do was put your hand near the fan behind the original 360 and feel it blowing air hot enough to cook food safely to know that the console had a very lacking cooling system. In fact my both of my brothers had their first RROD inside of the first 9 months of release , couple of friends as well come to think of it.

Again , compared to RROD , Sony is having a pretty good launch.

Was your console shipping around anywhere near Kansas? There was a train derailment that effected a lot of day one releases from Amazon.

Nope. I'm in FL. Package is just lost. Amazon says they gave to UPS, UPS says they never received it. Amazon could have at least flipped a free game or something to make up for their lack of follow through on their Guarantee. I understand shit happens, but they guaranteed it, and literally could care less that they broke their guarantee. That's my biggest issue.

The battery in the controller does not last long at all. The included micro USB cable is tiny. You'll definitely need either a long micro USB cable or an extension.

Then that's bullshit. Complain continuously until they resolve it. Don't let them think you'll just "accept it". Harass them through email , chat and phone calls.

That's what I would do.

Every "guarantee" has fine print, sir. Relax. You hyped yourself up way too much for a console that has no killer apps yet. Be happy you got something from Amazon... might not have even been Amazon's fault. I've had UPS lose shit for me too and say I got it, signed for it, or was left on doorstep only to be proven false.

It's more for my kids than me but way to miss the point! It is irrelevant who's fault it is when Amazon is the one who guaranteed it. I'm not sure why this is so difficult to understand. If you bought something from me, and you made plans around the day I GUARANTEED you would have it, then I just acted like it was no big deal when I didn't give it to you even though you paid me, you'd have the same "it's cool" attitude?

Psn is broken, not like you can use it anyway.

It does suck, but remember amazon has a few hundred million customers, and you are just one. Doesn't make financial sense for them to care much.

I am aware of how many customers they have, but they used to have great customer service (Bezos is known for this) and really wanted to make you happy. Seems now they don't anymore. I realize I don't matter and they don't care, but I will go out of my way to shop elsewhere after this. All they had to do is act like they cared by flipping something my way as a sign of "Hey, we know we disappointed you when you counted on us and you are a valuable customer, we want to make you happy, here's a free game for when it does arrive."

I run a small 10 employee IT services business and flip freebies all the time, even when it' s not our fault, just to keep people happy and purchasing our services.

I manually updated mine with USB.
It said the system would restart and boot up. So I said OK. It got stuck with the pulsating blue light. Left it for about 20 minutes, nothing. I read online that if its doing that and the controller has not connected(stays white instead of blue) its stuck in "boot up stage", so nothing is really running. I unplugged the console.
I removed all cables for about 30 seconds, reattached them and turned it on.
System went straight to safe mode and started "initializing". After that it rebooted itself, this time it came up fine.
Version 1.5, everything is OK.

just cant connect to PSN now......

Eh its Day one. Its Sony , they have a history when it comes to network outages like the 2 month long one (to be fair , they were getting hacked but they had horrible security measures so).

I can tolerate PSN being down for a week or so but after that no excuses from Sony.

I expected this, so I'm not bummed out or anything.
But it is delaying my acquirement of Resogun since it is download only.... I don't have any disc games.
I may go pick up something if goes on for a few hours.....

I grabbed Killzone. Its really good. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I downloaded all the digital games I could while the network was working so I'll check those out later.

I might pick up NBA 2k14 tomorrow. I hear its pretty awesome.

Do you see "an update file is downloading" every time you go to fire that game up?

I keep running into this and I choose "no" when it asks "do you want to start the application without the update."

This happened the first time I fired the game up. I waited a couple of minutes and then that message was gone.

Now it's a couple of hours later and I'm firing it up again and I'm seeing that again.

Is this normal? Did that game have at least one update?

Overall I'm pretty impressed with the system. It's a nice upgrade to the PS3 across the boards. Build quality is better than I expected. No wobbling, either. ;)

Yeah, the notifications and downloading of updates isn't very smooth. Of you go to Notifications, you should be able to see the download and install it.

Great info, thank you for sharing. I'm a madden addict, so that's a certainty for me. I hate basketball but you have me considering 2k... I keep going back and forth on killzone. Mixed feedback... the 2nd one bored me.

No I don't. In fact not even once. Everything is entirely seemless for me. Only the PSN being an issue right now. I've only had Amazon Prime freeze my entire system and was forced to pull the power to get it to restart. My system warned me not to do that again but it booted fine.

I think perhaps because PSN isn't working for me I'm not seeing any patches they might be applying.
