Can someone tell me how to unlock voltage control for the 290x. I have the XFX BF4 edition and the box said it had "Unlocked Voltage"

I installed MSI afterburner but the option isn't selectable. I tried clicking unlock voltage control in the settings and it didn't do anything. Do I need to use a different program?

Thanks.

My Sapphire states on the box that it support TRIXX which is a voltage control over clocking program from Sapphire but it hasn't been updated in a long time so as of right now TRIXX doesn't does not recognize the card.

What I have done and many others is flash an Asus BIOS and run Asus GPU Tweak which does offer voltage control but IMO its early and not very stable.

A new beta for Afterburner with full control of the new voltage controller should be out in the next few days. Unwinder has submitted it to MSI so it's all on them now.

So I installed the new version of MSI After burner 3.0.0 beta 17 which supports 290/x but the voltage control is still not working. Can anyone else confirm this? Is it an issue with my XFX bios? Do I need to flash a different bios?

Thanks

Make sure you go into the options and check the box allowing voltage monitoring and control. Even though I had them checked in the last beta, I had to check them again and restart the program. As long as you're using the original BIOS you should be good, but know that you're limited to a maximum of +100mV.

Ok thanks. Ill try that. Would it make any difference if Im on the quiet or Uber bios? What voltage does +100mv give you? Anyway to get higher with another bios?

1. The only difference in the BIOS in fan speed cap, and that the quiet is write protected. I don't see how it would matter for software voltage control.

2. And as for what 100mV will get you, it depends on your stock voltage. Different chips come with different voltage, like mine is at 1.175v but other people have 1.113v. For me, it means the max voltage I can get would be 1.275v.

3. I'm not sure, but flashing the Asus BIOS and using GPU Tweak may give you more room, but I don't flash so I have no first hand knowledge.
