Sounds like you didn't level very far. Game is slow early on and combat feels off till you start doing linked/supported abilities, get some movement speed, attack speed, etc.

You can't blame him. The combat is awful for a long time. Coupled with desync and I'm surprised new players stick around at all. You said it yourself, it feels off.

White knights to the rescue though.

Yeah...on an unrelated note, Grim Dawn is available on Steam (Greenlight) now. Has anyone picked it up and tried it out yet?

The description says its the first act of the game or something to that effect, but with most of the mechanics being polished.

I have Grim Dawn right now. It is pretty solid. Not much has changed from Titan Quest but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The atmosphere of the game is interesting.

Back on topic. Rolled a dagger shadow with the intent to go CI later. I'm having a blast so far; entirely different playstyle and I'm much more fragile than I usually am.

I concur. By the time I did act III I started to get it. Also, I specifically try to avoid Betas because it warps your experience of the game. I find you have more fun if you start at release

Odd that you feel that way. The current trend in bitching about PoE is saying Melee is way way better than anything.

I never even considered using sword and board until yesterday morning.

I "lost" my bow so I had to change and, once I tried it, I've been having a blast. I do think it's a bit OP though...either that or I have found a magic spec to use...I mean, I can reach Piety's room in 15 minutes from zoning into the temple and I'm -NOT- a good player by ANY means.

I'm running a crappy Short Sword with a 6% LVL 10 Reave with 6% LVL 8 Multistrike and LVL 8 Melee Splash.

I don't even use my debuff totems anymore. I just throw on Molten Shell, run into a room full of mobs, and turn on the blender. Rinse. Repeat. That's literally the only Melee skill I have except for the default attack.

It would be even better if I weren't using some POS short sword right now.

If I had a 6L blade I'd blow through the zones because I already have 6% lvl 10 Faster Attacks, 6% Lvl 10 Added Fire Damage, and either my 7% Added Cold Damage or my Lvl 10 Life Gained on Hit to install once I get a 6L.

One "oddity" I've noticed about the game so far...

I had two mobs drop "Cast on Death" gems so I kept one and asked around if anyone needed one and traded it for a 4L bow with a 5th socket. (Bow was white, but the guy also threw in a complete rare evasion gear set for my other character)

I was able to equip it with the gems in it that I normally use, to see what my dps would be with them, and then I removed it and used the gem that makes it rare.

It raised the level at which I could equip it from 44 to 49! Now I got no bow because I sold my old one to make room for the new one...lol. I'm a tard sometimes.

I just learned you can swap gear/gems after summoning minions... wow. Got a tabula rasa, sidhebreath, and chober chaber for pure gear swap summoning rapage.

When I remove the gems for my summons, they disapear. just fyi

You still might be able to get away with it on weapons with weaponswapping right?

That's never worked for me. Have you tested?

It works and it's OP as fuck.

You can swap support gems at any time. You have to be in town to swap the Summoning skill from one piece of gear to the next.

The key is that the summoning skill has to be in a piece of gear when you leave town or you'll lose those summons. So I kill a bunch of stuff swap on my chober chaber and sidhebreath to summon my zombies. Then I hit Lunaris lvl 2 and kill some BM's and titty bitches. I put all the gems in the tabula rasa, put it on (along with chober chaber & sidhebreath), summon the BM's, swap the supports, summon the titty bitch, and then go to town. Swap gems again and you're ready to roll.

Summoner confirmed broken. Just hit lvl 80 and I just faceroll everything. Everything literally melts. Even map bosses die in seconds. I'm stockpiling currency to buy the first Mon'tregul's Grasp that drops in Nemesis. Gonna be even more insane.

For my spectres I use:

BM's - Minion life, minion damage, minion resist, increased burning, and increased AOE
Titty bitch - minion life, minion damage, minion resist, lmp, and added fire

that sounds like a lot of work. I've really been "bored" with the game as of late, not feeling like doing a dominitatin/nemesis char, not feeling like my main, not feeling like getting my alts to "uber" status (both melee, both sitting in their early 60's)

Minions rarely die, so you really only need to summon them once.

Hit lvl 50 today. Not really seeing why I should stick around much longer.

what map levels you running? Things really jump up 72+ in my experience.

Only up to 69s right now. I haven't been able to break through into 70s yet. Map system still sucks. I don't see higher maps being too much of a problem though unless they've got crazy mods or awful mob rolls. Undying Incinerators and the new Evangelists from Act 3 are tough on minions.

Played from the start of open beta and got pretty rich. Started Nemesis and got to level 77 and all of a sudden lost massive interest in the game. Been racking my head to think of a unique innovative build that is fun to play but I feel like everything has been done already. Everything just feels like a grind now. Maybe when new skills come into the game I'll come back and hopefully find some fun in the game again.

RIP on my leap/sweep Dualist on Nemsis last night @ lv33 due to being frozen then desync - first time also getting a legendary :/ Sad Panda

I can understand that. Innovative crazy builds are still out there. It just takes a hell of a lot of thought to come up with them.

More like a hell of a lot of time grinding and getting gear. Puttting together a build is not rocket science. You just can't respec so you have to level characters. It's awful. That's free to play for you though. If they let you actually do what you want to do, you'd stop playing the game a lot sooner and possibly never buy anything.

My legacy Facebreaker infernal blow build is steamrolling. For the most part, his gear is pretty bad, but it doesn't seem to slow him down. At lvl 58 with 4400 unbuffed dps, even level 64 zones aren't much of a challenge. If I can get a new helmet and chest, I can see this being my new main character.

Some builds do take a fair amount of gear to figure out. My challenge is that alot of the builds that I want to do are super risky low level and only really come into their own around level 50.

just wait until you can add Bringer of Rain on top of your head... I'm at 24kdps unbuffed.

Mind linking me your passive tree? I've been tinkering with this build for almost a year, but only since release has it been this powerful. Bringer of Rain is on the menu, but I'm wondering if a Daresso's Courage should be, too.

They're splitting Purity into each individual element as a separate aura and nerfing purity.

This angers me slightly, especially when I was excited about "3 new auras" coming soon.

Yea, I thought beta was over. Tons of changes and nerfs pretty quick after release.

The only way to keep the game fresh is to constantly change it really, i forsee them just doing a free respec once a year and doing big changes with each new act.

They completed the third act making the game "content complete" = end of beta.

GGG will continue to add skills and whatever else they want, as well as continue to actively balance the game, which really shouldn't surprise anyone considering that they've committed to putting out patches every couple of weeks.

What do you expect, that the game will not change the moment we leave beta? Every online game continue to change long after beta, as new content and skills get added, rebalancing is needed.

People need to adept instead of expecting the same build 1 year ago to continue working indefinitely.

D2 had massive balance changes for a decade after release. I think some people just like picking scabs.

The desync is really starting to tick me off. I lost my third character on merc yesterday due to a desync. I wasn't even fighting an especially hard mob either...just 4-5 blues.

I'm just saying, it clearly shows they test don't their shit. The three resist auras are just awful. They are pushing so hard toward party play that it's ridiculous. I wonder why they'll just throw out these skills that people like and then nerf them weeks later, but they won't make changes to something that everyone bitches about and follow up with tweaks if necessary. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. You'd think they would want to take more time changing things people enjoy and less time changing things that each and ever person agrees is awful. It took them all this time to increase map drops and add bandit respecs which are no-brainers.

They definitely test their shit. They aren't always right when they make changes, but rebalancing things isn't automatically a negative. As we saw with 1.0, the game has never been this balanced. As they add more skills and more potential builds, things will need to be tweaked. All online games have this issue.

As far as Purity is concerned... I really don't see what they are doing there. Breaking it up into 3 parts seems like a bad idea. I'm not setting aside 40% of anything to use any of the new auras.

This. I've been playing this game for years and it keeps getting worse. I remember a time when it only happened with whirling blades and maybe one other skill. Now it seems like anything movement related triggers it and sometimes it happens for no apparent reason. Maybe that's lag though. Hard to tell the difference sometimes.
