Any tigerdirect reps here? I'm confused about the promo the tigerdirect product pages don't show it but the main advertisement on the front page says "...Your Geforce GTX 780 Ti also comes with the hottest holiday games FREE..." (last paragraph) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/campaigns/deals.asp?campaignid=2754&cm_re=Homepage-_-Spot%2001a-_-CatId_campaign_nvidiaGtx780Ti

And the guy in the chat linked me the old gtx 780 which has the bundle in the product page...

Try checking again. What you saw was likely the right card but there was a typo earlier this morning where Tiger accidentally left the Ti off the description. They responded and fixed everything right away once it was caught though so it should show up correctly now.

Thanks! Just picked up one of the Galaxy cards.

Can't wait to get it in house!

$700 is a buzkill price coming on the heels of the AMD 290 at $400

Steak versus microwaved chicken nuggets.

Buy AMD card and you're stuck with an AMD card that sucks power and sounds like a blowdryer

$300 can easily pay for a more powerful PSU and superior cooling.

Jesus christ, can there not be trolls infecting every fucking 780ti thread. This is a hot deal thread. You wanna blab about performance n shit, there's a huge thread already set up for that. Check it out, its linked from the H review on the front page.

I would say it's more like a moist delicious rare-cooked sirloin cut by Gordon Ramseys himself, topped with a beautiful presentation of inedible decor served with a cabernet sauvignon while dining in the finest establishment of the city.

While AMD is like a rack of melt off the bone BBQ'd ribs that leave you feeling satisfied while chugging down a couple of beers at a sports bar and enjoying the game. GO PACERS!

Considering the R9 290X is $550, and is usually reviewed on "uber mode" 95c highspeed-noisy-fan non-default settings which are unfair compared to an unchanged, 80-82c temp target quiet $700 780 Ti with 3 free games worth a large amount of change, it's not a buzzkill at all. Test the cards on equal footing with either quiet mode on the 290X and the quiet mode default on the 780 Ti, or 95c uber mode to temp target 95c on the 780 Ti and the tale changes wildly, with the 780 Ti pulling far ahead while still being quieter. Add in features like downsampling, transparency supersampling, better drivers overall, physx, hbao+, tweakable AA/SLI bits, and it's a no-brainer to pick the 780 Ti vs. the 290X if you can afford it. People aren't buying the 780 Ti because of the brand name, educated buyers are getting it for the features & performance in actual gaming.

Lol unfair? So now both cards have to be on equal temps, equal air speeds, equal noise levels for them to be compared?

They should be on comparable terms as far as non-default settings vs. default ;). Uber mode is not comparable to the stock nVidia settings which are analagous to the "quiet mode" on the R9 290X. Of course I already went over that in my post but you seemed to have stopped reading pretty early on. I bet you'll read this next sentence just fine though... carry on with your threadcrapping.

$700 dollars is ridiculous.

No sale Nvidia.

Edit: Hmm, after reading some of the posts here i can see how people could take my post wrong. Thanks for the heads up OP.
I love both camps, and i'm super glad AMD is doing their damnedest to compete with all the odds stacked against them. But Nvidia clearly has been taking advantage of their slight lead in performance(also huge lead in revenue) and have been gouging the consumer in the process. I remember a time when i could afford the top gpu($450-$550) when it came time to upgrade. No longer, with their "new and improved" pricing these last 2 years. Do they churn out great products? Sure, Titans are great and all, but the price of "Moore's" performance has gone up, and Nvidia's need for increased profits are to blame for it. Thank goodness for AMD to force Nvidia to lower their God awful prices.

This is my opinion.

Name calling already? That was quick.

So because AMD gives you a hardware switch to reduce it's power it's automatically a non-default setting? In my opinion Uber mode is what it's MEANT to be run on. Quiet mode is just there to reduce complaints, 99% of end users will run it in uber mode. All it does is jack up the fan speed. It essentially runs the same as Nvidia's GPU Boost and fan scaling.

They make sure that $699.99 tag follows you all the way down the page...... Thought I had a race going there for a minute. Interesting price on it. Going to look at some other models though.

I paid about the same, or maybe a bit more for an 8800GTX back in the day.........it seems out of line when you factor in the 290 prices, but all things considered, its not really a bad price.

The 8800 Ultra was $825.00......and people bought them up......

after Titan prices, anything looks good. for $599, it would be a winner at this point but $699 is just too much for what you get.

These issues are relevant to the decisionmaking process for many people. If I buy a 6-cylinder car that is advertised as "just as fast as an 8 cylinder, but cheaper!" and it ends up sucking more gas and the engine sound is deafening, well you see why everything needs to be considered and weighed carefully.

And it also gets brought up because the gap is pretty drastic in terms of performance-per-watt between these flagship AMD & NV cards. Bottom line the AMD cards have to work much harder to keep up with the NV at a given performance level. That means far less headroom for overclocking since these things are basically overdriven to their ability limits out of the box.

What on Earth are you talking about with "name calling"?

So 99% of end users by your logic would also run nVidia cards with a 95c temp target, too ;). So if Radeon cards are run with a 95c target, why should nVidia ones be restricted to 80c target in reviews? That is an uneven playing field right there as I said.

Just placed an order for a 780 ti oc (was going to go non-reference but I think I want to give sli a try in a couple months). Now someone just needs to buy my 780 oc acx!!

$700? Y I K E S ? Are they seriously charging that?

I knew this thing was coming out but why on earth is it 75% more than a 290?

Insane

That's why.

As someone said in another thread $700? lol. nVidia's been sandbagging for years, and still overcharging for their products; IN reality, this should be going for under $500 considering.

What "should be" is a fantasy and tips your hand as having skipped economics class. I'd recommend starting here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supply_and_demand

The day they are technically "overcharging" is the day _enough_ people are no longer paying the asking price and they're compelled to lower it.

Not if you plan to water cool it and already have a 1200 watt PSU
Doesn't the price of a water-block (and associated supporting components) rather close the price gap?

The stock Nvidia blower doesn't NEED to be changed in order to run cool and quiet, the R9 290x does. That's not a great comparison.

This is a hot deal? Pretty sure this should be in the video card forum.

Still19 left? Doesn't look like these are exactly flying off shelves.

Nor should they with that pitiful 3GB RAM.

It's gotten worse lately. It appears they now expect people to pay more for less performance simply based on the brand (and it probably works given their fans).

It used to be they more or less matched AMD prices at a given performance level, but very recently I've noticed they no longer do that it seems. For example, they only dropped the 770 to $330, instead of 299 like it's AMD equivalent in performance the 280X.

Same thing with the recent drops of the 780 vs the 290, etc. 780 is still what, $520? And slower than 399 290, but the scary thing Nvidia doesn't seem like they are going to correct the 780 price at all. They are just saying hey, we're Nvidia, pay more for us.

Or any recent buyer of anything Titan level must feel sick. Example, my brother not too long ago bought a 780 for $650.

Now for just $50 more he could have gotten the much faster 780 Ti. Or for $400 the equivalent R 290.

Granted that's typical in video cards, but it seems unusually bad lately at the Nvidia high end, people are really getting gouged.

And 3GB RAM in the 780 Ti? Awful. No excuse for that to not be a 6GB default card.

$700 for this is complete nonsense. A fool and his money, whatever, waiting for Maxwell.

Well like so many people have been saying - Nvidia will get away with this and more..as long as people are willing to get it.
Heck the Titan was and is still priced at $1000 and still sells!

Can't blame NV, who doesn't want to make money and easy money at that!
