Motorola Patenting A Neck Tattoo That's Also a Microphone

Can I get another tattoo on my earlobe for the full wireless experience? LOL

Me wonders where the battery goes.

Honestly just give me one of those bluetooth ear rings from Fringe and I'd be good.

Next thing: Tattooing traces and leads on to your body and make a breadboard out of your skin. Cool.

What happens when a new version of the tatoo is released with new features?

It would much better to put the microphone on your penis/vagina.

That way, when you hear somebody talking, you look over and can tell they aren't talking to you, because they are folded in half with their fly open.

Ok, but it cost more than the guy's private college tuition... so 200K + for the printer and it has to be run by a team of highly paid engineers. At this point it's much less effecient than just running a machine shop. It doesn't compare well to the commercial 3D plastic printers, which cost 100x less.

Well, people with neck tattoos probably need to be tracked or euthanised anyway.

Didn't the movie Cloud Atlas have something similar?

Well, the entire phone and circuitry plus mic was integrated right into a person's subdermal. That and they were able to track people who used it unless you had a hacked version or something.

Hard to imagine this would be reality in a few more decades already. Motorola seems to think this might be a good idea.

I can't wait for some Christians to go whacko over this.

One needn't be religious in any manner to see the privacy concerns of such technology. Nor to see how this movement toward wearable computing will eventually lead to body augmentation. Honestly, as a species I don't think we're ready for such rapid technological advances. While I'm not so concerned with people already familiar with technology, I'm far more concerned with the average person and what they end up doing. It's much like how cell phones have put us into a situation where if you have a dozen people in a room today you'll likely have more cameras than people. Privacy is all but gone due to that. Even if someone eschews modern technology they can't get away from it outside of moving to ANWR.

I was referring to certain zealouts thinking everything is the mark of the beast.

I got my movies wrong.

That wasn't Cloud Atlas, it was Total Recall (remake).

Basically the cell phone electronics are integrated right under your skin including the dialer, antenna, and speaker with webcam possibly using your eyes or an implant within it. That and the ability to interface your hand onto a transparent LCD/OLED screen and have a video chat with someone sounds awesome.

Would it be cool to have something like this?

Maybe.

But, fuck... pity the people who buy a new cell phone each year, but I guess having something implanted inside you beats carrying it around and losing it.

That awkward moment you get an accidental call from your buddy with the new hand implant that decided to crank one off...
Yeah, sounds like a GREAT idea to me...
