NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Tried it to see if it would handle it - it couldn't.

I wasn't trying to cyberbu//y, I'm just as disappointed as you are. You got my hopes up then shot it down in the same post :(

Isn't Furmark a synthetic benchmark that force the system to loads that will never happen? I think the 290 can handle gaming just fine...
According to;

Vidya gaem (Crysis 3) load is about the same Furmark load.

Little birds told me that those DEMCIflex filters for NCASE M1 should show up on their site at friday. I mean those 120mm square filters with "cutted" corners for the side bracket.

If you are using sfx PSU, you can rule out

780 ti
780
290x
290

Their load consumption is ~10% of each other, and I don't think there is enough overhead left on st45 for that and high end cpu, and all the peripherals.

But I am sticking to 290 since it will be underwater.

So far I've played FIFA 14, Batman AA and AC, and WoW MOP on it without any problems at all. I think it will be just fine as long as I don't go trying to torture it. :D

What are you running on it
CPU, HDD< any fans, ODD ?

Just trying to get an idea of power use.

thanks

So kudos to Necere and Wahaha360 - this project has been an absolute triumph so far. And kudos to everyone on this forum. Friendliness, knowledge, and just a general willingness to help with even the most trivial of things make it a pleasure to be a part of.

+1 Agree.

On another note I just found this and I wonder if it'll fit, at least with Asus Z boards.

I have tried to find every single possible picture of this one, and my SUSPICION is that this one will also allow you to install the side fan, Just maybe. (i.e. less than 115mm tall)

Would Love to have one of those. In my Asrock Z87eITX board, the Noctua U9B in a vertical orientation fits with 1mm to spare between it and the ram sticks. (permitting unlimited ram height)

My hopes with the D type is that it fits both ways, both up and sideways, depending on whether theres a limitation on the efficiency of the cooler in the horizontal orientation (airflow wise)

What I am more worried about though, is if it ever comes to market.... This would be something I would seriously consider instead of my U9B

Just got my Parcelforce customs letter, comes to £31.24 (£17.74 VAT +£13.50 extorti..err "handling fee"). Begrudgingly paid it, parcel will arrive on Monday. I could have got it tomorrow, on Friday, but I'm out of town, besides I still don't have all my parts, so it's no rush.
Hopefully it arrives safely.

indeed, Noctua showed lots of exciting stuff at computex and there are no release dates yet. I think a lot of people are waiting to get their hands on the black/grey 'budget' versions of the fans, the active noise cancellation cpu cooler (not for M1) and of course the compact heatsinks like D9

780 / Titan is perfectly fine ...

290x,290,780ti ... you shoud wait until 2014 ... maybe silverstone will bring something more beefier ...

GTX780 should be perfectly fine. The load difference is around 50W, which is a lot when we are talking about a 450W psu.

Also, keep in mind that when you put your 290 under water... your power consumption might go up since the card wont be temperature throttled. Be aware of that :)

By the way... what exactly a "deconstructed X750" looks like? I'm curious since you put that on the google spread sheet.

Any overclock? If not... I wouldn't be happy at all since you have no spare space to do anything. Let alone try games that load BOTH cpu and gpu at the same time, like BF4 does.

Although its kinda weird... since a guy on a spanish forum I regularly visit said his 290 CF system pulls around 650W from the wall on Unigine, and his is a higher system than yours.

Maybe the non-gold version of the Silverstone SFX is not as good as the Gold one and might not be that "peak-friendly". Still.... too close for my taste.

May I suggest to add the google spread sheet on the OP? IMO, since we have a bit higher than 20% of the total cases over there, it might be helpful for others.

I'm personally surprised it got that far :D

Finally managed to register at hardforum!Yay!

Got mine last week already, was astouned! Quality is superb, I don't even mind the silver sockets in the silver version.

Unfortunatly I didn't expect it to be here before january, so I don't have enough cash lying around to buy new hardware. I thought of getting the P8Z77-I Deluxe from ASUS for my almost 3 year old i5-2500K, which would save me some money and the purchase of a new CPU. On the other hand as a uni student, this is still a lot of money to spend on such an old processor, so I have a hard time deciding. I'd need to spend around 300$ for a decent cooler and a Silverstone SFX PSU (my Seasonic X650 won't fit with my XFX 7870 GHz) and the mainboard..

What do you guys think?

Runs between 340-370W. I'll see you all on the flipside. Flipside being after I built my PC into the Ncase :-P

I'm more or less in the same boat as you are. But I've decided my i5 2500K is still rocking good enough for my needs, so I'll keep it for a few extra yers.

I'm getting, though, the Asrock Z77-E ITX, which is cheaper than the Asus, and more or less on the same level. Regardless, you should be able to sell some parts of your actual system to make room for the new parts, and you won't lose that much money.

Another option is to get a "mini" VGA and be done with it.

Mmmmm, with the computer on your sig, I take it? If it is... something is wrong with the other fellow wich a 290(x) that makes the psu trip. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I got a piece of paper from our german postal service DHL, that i can pick up sth ;) it said i have to pay only 19,36€ ... thought it would be more :D

Sorry I didnt find anything on this with a quick search but has anybody looked into sound dampening options? M1 is absolutely gorgeous and it totally exceeded my hopes, thank you. My only complain about it is that its a little bit noisy (cant have everything ) compared to my previous FT03-MINI with nearly same configuration. I think the noisiest component is my Silverstone sfx 450w bronze but Im trying to stick with it until the new rumored sfx is launched.

that's excellent, do you know how the tax and clearance / handling fees break down?

I do not know yet, because on the paper only stands the following in one column
-> pay customs: 19,36€ ... not more, so i really hope it includes taxes^^

Picked mine up today, total of 48€ duties and taxes. I was okay with that, lower than anticipated.

The case looks stunning, and smaller than what I had imagined, which is only a positive thing :)

Got mine yesterday. Actually arrived the day before, but didn't have time to collect it.
Needed to charge my camera battery for some pics, so I waited until today.

I think there is a clear pattern regarding Europe delivery:

a) Some countries got their cases air-shipped and, as such, they got theirs really quick.
b) The rest, it seems that Netherlands is starting to get theirs, and so does Belgium. Germany, France and the southern ones are out of luck... IMO, because they are "en route" as we speak.

So, it shouldnt be too long now, fellows ^^

And I think us Ausbros are getting ours shipped, literally. But with that said, some of our friends across the ditch seem to have theirs already though.

There was talk a few pages ago of using Acoustipack or similar materials, but I seriously doubt that sound dampening materials on the panels would do anything for fan noise as every panel has loads of ventilation holes for sound to escape through.

As always with quiet computing the best place to minimize the sound is at the source. Have you modded your PSU fan?

I have the Silverstone SFX 450w Gold with one of these fitted - http://www.bequiet.com/en/casefans/258 and it's pretty much inaudible at anything more than about 6 inches away, although I'm running it at 9v iirc.

Planned launch in Q1 2014 according to the info on Noctua.at, atleast that was the case back in june on computex.

The footprint is 95x95 but i guess that is just the cooling elements, have you seen anyinfo on total height?

So it can be done with a fan other than the Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentPro PC-P 80mm.... I was just wondering this last night and in fact looked at the bequiet fan you just referenced, curious if it would also work (as it is 25mm and the Noiseblocker is 15mm). What are the requirements other than 80mm for the fanswap in the ss sfx? I am confused as to whether or not it should be a PWM fan, what the rpms should be, and how you are running it at 9v.... Have read this guide:http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1707073&page=12 but it still leaves me wondering about the pwm and if a slower, thicker, and quieter fan might be used instead of the noiseblocker.

you could try the Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM 92mm if you're willing to mount it on the outside of the PSU case (WiSK noted in the other thread there is only space inside for 82mm diameter.) I guess any 80mm x 25mm might also work mounted to the outside of the PSU housing.

One question regarding the panels and there mounting-pins. Do anyone know if they are spot-welded or soldered? I ask because of the opportunity to anodize the panels... perhaps^^

My package just arrived - SN 0592. Only 15€ customs and tax (Poland), way lower than i expected.

A big THANK YOU to Wahaha and Necere, if you ever decide to make a similar matx case, i'm in :).

and now i guess the case arrives before my package from aquatuning with tubes and fittings :(
