PS4 Overheating Rumors Persist

I'll be glad when someone straps a pound of tannerite to each and blows them to pieces with a .50BMG. Then we'll see, exactly, which is the better console! :)

I know, I know, all bad Xbox One rumors are TOTALLY true and all bad PS4 rumors are "divergence tactics." We get it. No need for the fanboy-ish "oh yeah, but look at what Microsoft did" posts every chance you get.

THIS THREAD is about making fun of the stupid PS4 overheating rumors. Feel free to start your own "more divergence tactics..." thread in the appropriate forum.

-Thanks!
I'm just trying to keep the level of negative One comments, in your headlines, up to the level which PS4 ones are.

;)

Most fanboys believe that to be their duty, protect their precious product at any cost. In this case, you went as far as to threadcrap a threat that was making fun of stupid PS4 rumors. That's a whole new level of commitment.

Well, at least you are honest about it...and consistent.

The PS4 is warmer because it's actually being used whereas the Xbone is cold from being turned off. Haven't been a console person but if I do get one it'll probably be the hot one.

xbox 1, PS4, you're still stuck with a console. I see no reason to be fanboy when both of your bikes have training wheels.

:p

XBOX1 gets shut off by reviewers, unlike the PS4 :D

Maybe it gets warm because it's basically twice as powerful as the Xboned lol

Several of the launch titles for the Xbones can only run at 720p vs the 1080p 60fps the PS4 can run at.

Pretty sad day for Xboners lol

That doesn't demonstrate that the PS4 is more powerful, as much as it shows developers either not able to work with the development tools very well, or they are being rushed to provide content.

I'd say you have a bit of work ahead of you. It does seem like the PS4 stories are generally negative around here

A.) I recommend using the search button, you'll find just as many Xbox / Microsoft stories as Sony / PS4 (negative / positive)

B.) Unless you are implying that we CREATE these news items, we have no control over what makes the news.

C.) Leading up to a new console launch (or other popular products), rumor mill stories often make the for great / lively discussions...well, until people ruin it.

Isn't PS4 the one with a billion vents in the back?

Trolls gonna troll Steve.

Keep up the good work and thanks.

a) Overheating to what extent?

b) Companies cheaping out on build quality ( which is why their are 10+ different versions of an older Playstation ).

My N64 still plays Zelda on "Ultra" settings. I think I'll stick it out with these crappy PC ports until I can get a "Water Cooled" edition. Should be quite an upgrade and I'll be set for years.

:D no problemo ;)

We only have a couple more weeks of this and then we can go back to fighting about Intel vs. AMD - GeForce vs. Radeon - Windows vs. Linux - CoD vs. BF4 etc. etc.

:)

Of course. It probably has the same shitty cooling system that the PS3 had.

They make these things as cheap as possible to make as much profit on them as they can. I wouldnt be surprised the least bit if the first generation were as prone to heat dmg as the PS3 was.

I never heard of overheating issues on the PS3. I've seen 6 dead 360s in my family and no dead PS3s since 2007.

I wonder if we'll get the same "Xbox 360 Burning houses down" events with this generation.

Now from a look at the systems, the Xbone seems to be more open with more venting for heat to escape, but we'll see how that works out in ~2 weeks. All I know is that I'll be playing some vidya games soon enough, and hopefully my house won't burn down (I'd save my folding equipment first if it did).

In the beginning they used some bad Solder in their mainboards, this caused it to weaken over time when temps would fluctuate causing hairline fractures in the soldering points which gave you the "Yellow Light of Doom".

I personally fixed many PS3's by taking them apart and re melting the solder with a heatgun.

My fat 60gb PS3 ran strong for 5 years until it stopped reading discs, other than that, sure it was warm, but never over heated, Same story with the Xbox 360 I got for free, granted, it was the Elite (Improved cooling) but didn't have a single RROD.

Yep some people had no problems with them at all, my friend still has a PS3 he bought when they first came out and it still runs fine. It was really hit and miss on which one you would receive with the cheap solder.

A lot of people have had problems with the phat ps3's turning into leafblowers over time because of the thermal paste drying up both between the heatspreader and the HS.

Killzone looks like crap, im sorry but even my htpc with 7770 can do better than that.

must be one hell of a 7770 you got.

My PS3 slim overheats. Luckily I don't use it that much except for the occassional Madden and Blu-Ray movie.

I have heard a bit about this. Never really happened to me, but maybe I was one of the lucky Majority.

Personally I liked the George Foreman Grill mod they did for an original PS3 :D

Most all of the news stories are made in fun if no one has noticed, and there are obvious postings that are more bias (apple) but this is a PC enthusiast forum so anything not related to that is going to have people infighting.

To the folks debating power and game resolutions they should check the console forums for more up to the minute debate and news.

A few posts in this thread are simply wrong because they don't look into specifics. Xbone running Ghosts at 720p /60 vs PS4 at 1080p /60 with performance issues for example has been effectively thrown out. They both have bad dips probably because of stretching their resources too far.

Forza only achieves 1080p/60 by using forward rendering (static lighting, shadows, etc.) and possibly does not have AA.

Killzone is 1080p/60 in multi player and single player is variable from 30-60.

The PS4 overheating rumor is not confirmed, there are multiple reputable developers saying they have not had any problems at all with the systems on for entire workdays.

I seriously doubt either console will have heat issues, not after last gen especially the Xbox One.

My launch ps3 got hot, would even go full Blower. I spent $20 and got two thermal take USB 120mm fans and vented my cabinet. Works like a dream.
