I'm having trouble finding software to make copies of DVD movies. Right now I'm using DVDShrink to rip to ISO, but I'd like a one-step process that can copy directly to another disk.

Suggestions?

I do not think it is a good idea. Making an ISO is the way to go. Because you won't get consistent speed reading a DVD, what if there were a hard to read track that took a long time and your burn buffer ran out? Reading from HDD is faster and it ensures you have a good amount of data available in the burn buffer.

Well I only have one drive in the PC, so I meant a copy to HD to DVD in one step process, rather than having to create an ISO, then burn the ISO, then delete the ISO.

So the only step you want to eliminate is deleting the ISO file manually?

What I think you are saying is you want to copy the DVD directly to the HD as an ISO, then copy the ISO back to the DVD. What program are you using to rip the DVD? Does it not have a "copy as ISO" option?

Right now I'm using DVD Shrink to make the ISO, then CDBurner XP.

I have about 100 DVDs I want to copy. It would save me a lot of cumulative time if there were a program to do it in one step. There are plenty of programs that'll copy a non-copy-protected disc in one step, but I haven't been able to find any to do it with a DVD.

Sorry, I'm having a hard time understanding you.

Firstly, you want it to be a 1-step process.

Secondly, you said you were having only 1 DVD drive on your PC. You will have to somehow copy the DVD content to your HDD then replace a blank DVD and burn to it from HDD. So copying directly from one DVD to another DVD is not possible.

Did you by any chance mean "1 single program" instead? If yes, take a look at imgburn.

I use CDBurnerXp , Its easy, intuitive and fast, it's now a ONLY ONE step process but close to it.

DVD Decrypter can rip and write iso's. You only need to toggle the ISO read/write mode..

I see what he is talking about now. You know how you can duplicate a CD using a single program. Simply put the CD you want to duplicate into the drive. It makes a copy in a cache/tmp directory then spits the CD out, you put the blank CD in and it finishes the process. You don't have to use more than one program, convert anything, delete anything, etc.. That is what he wants. As far as I know, due to the different copy right protection types this is not possible.

Yes, that is what I mean. It's certainly possible, it's just a question of whether such a program does it.

I don't think one exists. At least, when I was doing something similar a few years ago it didn't. It's why I gave up trying to make backups of my DVDs.

Even though there are some cheap software to burn DVD, in disk copy mode. Not many can do exactly what I wanted. Spent a couple years looking and nothing really good. I broke down and bought Nero 12 and AnyDVD (liftime updates). Total cost was $220.00.

Worth every penny. I sptit the software cost between my boss and I. As long as we are not using it at the same time, were good. He has 400+ DVD collection, 100+ blu-ray. So he wants to do both without issues. Nero and AnyDVD was the solution.

Me, I just started my Blu-ray collection after a bad divorce, most everything went to my ex. I burn DVD movies to help family who are not wokring and to enjoy good movie. I rarely let anyone use my movies.
