People are claiming stats page has been updated, new variants are up, cutlass now has 2xt4 and avenger mass has decreased. Can't view on phone so can't verify so let me know lol.

Edit damn beating to it loo

did they bump up the cat's length? seems a lot longer than before.

the avenger in the store is not the trainer. I think the trainer is used in SQ42 but you can probably pick it up in the pu.

Holy shit.. the 300 series now has 8 tonnes of cargo capacity... Doesn't look like they updated the gladiator as it shows one engine still... But in light of this I'm seriously debating not keeping my retaliator... We'll see what comes about with being able to lock the turrets and what not.. the retaliator is smaller than the constellation now :/

Also.. the 325a seems like a keeper if it can haul 8 tons and be a fighter.. On the bright side I'm still pretty happy with the gladiator for a stealth bomber.

Rob mentioned in chat today that the upgrade slots were probably going away completely in favor a new system.

Yeah, kinda bummed about that. Its now smaller than the Stella in all dimensions but weighs a good bit more. Hopefully its well armored and has a high cruising speed.

i thought it always had 8. i was comparing like 2 days ago and the aurora had 5, 300i had 8, and avenger had 10. those were the only 3 i remember because those are the ones i was debating between. i hope they answer once and for all what the beds do in wingmans hanger tomorrow so i can decide on a ship. i want the avenger so bad but not having a bed to log out in deep space sounds like a dealbreaker to me. i want to be an explorer mostly. also, where does the cargo go in a 300i? probably a stupid question, but i cant figure it out.

Based on the layout of the ship, I believe the cargo will be going between the doors. Supposedly the bed will fold out from the little hallway area between what I think is the cargo area and the cockpit.

I currently have just the regular Hornet, but I think if they offer the 350R's again before the end of the LTI period (even for a 1 day sale which means no LTI for me since I'd need to trade), I'll probably pledge for one. I love they way they look.

I am hoping that if they don't extend the LTI offer they should offer all ships again this weekend(minus the set availability ones like the scythe and idris)

I got to put a order in with Lorien soon to grab me either the Cutlass or the Avenger and than a 450 package I think for my son, I really think he needs something faster than the damn Aurora.

really? that lessens my interest in that ship a lot. how can you even get in and out of the ship if your cargo hold is full? or do you have to sacrifice 1/4 of your potential cargo space so you can enter/exit? also, that space isnt like a nice rectangular shape or anything so it seems like it will be hard to make decent use of the space. idk, maybe they have something up their sleeves but i would MUCH rather have the external cargo pod of the aurora over having cargo bouncing around the interior of my supposedly luxury ship.

A 450 Package?

meh, 450

I will get him the Bounty Hunter with a 300i.

Well, 8 tons of cargo doesn't necessarily have to be large in size. At least, that's how I'm looking at it (I traded my 325A toward a Hornet anyway, but because I liked the updated Hornet model more than the 325A model -- nothing to do with specs/cargo). TBH, the whole genre is new to me, so I'm not really going to pretend like I know what's going on.

The 300i cargo was 8 tons before, and 5 tons for the 350r. The inside of the 350r looks exactly the same as the other 300i versions, so the cargo hold isn't there since 3 tons worth of space hasn't gone missing. I suspect some of the rear structure has the cargo hold, although a split hold with some space in the nose is a real possibility.

[strike=test]Look at the Aurora commercial for hints as to where the cargo will go in the 300 series. There's a reason the landing gear makes the ship rest so high off the ground. It's not a question of aesthetics because the certainly CAN make ships rest closer to the ground, just look at the Avenger (which has an internal cargo hold).

Once you've though about that, think now about which ship will be a better match for different types of gameplay. Let's say you are a smuggler and are ambushed by some pirates. If you were in an Aurora/300 series you could simply drop your cargo container and make a run for it saving your ship. With an Avenger though they'd most likely have to take your ship because the cargo hold is internal...

Everything in the game will fit within their rock, paper, scissors mantra. Just have to think about it for a little bit.[/s]

Wrong assumption

That was my problem at first

As a scavenger, I went with the Avenger because there is a lot I can do with it, but I was lacking in a lot of area's, it does have internal cargo and yes I could buy a tractor beam for hauling loads while still maintaining some speed, but I had no defenses.

Now I have the Super Hornet because I figured, why not, could use it for dog fights and smuggling, which would be fine.

So I am stuck, I no longer have a real hauling ship, so I am going with either the Cutlass or the Freelancer for the purpose of hauling and scavenging. The Cutlass comes with the tractor beam to boot and is insured under the Cutlass LTI, while the Freelancer, I would have to purchase in-game, the tractor beam, and insure it separately, which than becomes a huge expense.

So now I have 2 ships for my account, a Cutlass and the Super Hornet. And than get my son the 300i...

OR

I could get the Cutlass pack, give him the cutlass and we could 2 ship it out in space, I can do the fights and he can haul, or we can switch accounts, he can fight and I can haul.

By the time this game happens, he will be 7 and will be easier to do this kind of stuff with, btw, he loves the Xbox 360 controller, so I don't think we will have trouble with controllers (I plan on getting the PS4 controller eventually, he will have the 360).

I'd say you should sit in the super hornet and get him the decked out aurora or a 325a.. You'll likely be a far better dog fighter than he will at that age.

Tractor beam covered by LTI would not be a factor in a decision IMHO, that won't be worth considering due to how cheap they'll probably be.

yeah, you can already buy the tractor beam separately on rsi.com and i think it's pretty cheap. i dont think LTI on it will be a big deal. anyone watch wingmans hangar yet? i love invisible rob. :)

Yes any extra equipment or weapons available on the VD store will be easily purchasable. Remember we will be able to earn credits during the dogfighting alpha in December so money is not going to be a concern there.

When was this announced?!?! Will these credits carry over to the released game?

I felt that it was important that we should make clear what are in-game items, earnable via game play. This was the whole reason of segregating these new items into the Voyager Direct store rather than the pledge store. We intend for players to be earning UEC in a limited fashion as early as the dogfighting module (say for fighting so many test battles, or winning a team battle competition) and felt Voyager Direct would be the first step in getting the basic systems in place. Ultimately you will be purchasing all these game items inside the game from in-game vendors on various planets but this won’t come online until the Planetside module.

I feel like I remember reading somewhere not too long ago that they weren't planning on doing a reset after alpha/beta. I'd check through the old comm-links / FAQs, but I'm at work and the network admins hate fun.

EDIT: Lorien wins. And it does say "limited fashion" so I guess people won't have enough to buy new ships outright at release, but maybe enough for an upgrade or two.

so after purchasing the superhornet I patched up hanger and hopped on for the first time since launch. I traded in a 300i for part of the cost of a super hornet. The super hornet made me feel like I made the right decision. That ship is epic, kind of makes my Connie feel depressing. I am tempted to go on the list for scythe, but I'd probably trade in for it... decisions!

Seriously, the Hornet(s) do feel a lot more "finished" than the Connie. Here's hoping she gets that final polish and detail revision when the brochure/variants/commercial are launched as the Hornet did.

I know exactly what you mean about the Connie. I have both as well and while I think the Connie is the best ship available at this time for my gameplay style I also feel like it is the least loved at the moment. Feel like they built it on a budget, pushed it out, realized they are getting tons of money, and did leaps and bounds about on other ships like the Retaliator.

I'm interested to see Connie variants. My god though, the super hornet is fucking intimidating. I think I'll probably end up spending a lot of my time in that thing....

Agreed. The Retaliator looks really really awesome.

ok so youre saying that the 300 series will have an external cargo pod like the aurora? that makes sense and i hope youre right, cargo inside the ship sounds ridiculous to me. that still leaves basically the entire space between the two doors as just empty, wasted space, something i detest greatly as interior room is at a premium. can anyone think of why the 300i is designed like it is? i mean why not just move the door to behind the cockpit, make it only on one side, and use that whole area to have a bed, a small table, and a small kitchen or something? im not sure what's in the sides of the ship between the doors and the cockpit now other than a bed, but the whole layout of this ship just makes me so frustrated because it could be so much better.

Actually I am wrong. I researched it just now and it appears the cargo does go inside:

I am excited for the Connie Variants. I hope they incorporate the P52 Merlin in the variants though maybe even going as far as having separate variants for the P52 that way you can have more diversity if you want.
