EA Cancels Command & Conquer

This might actually be a godsend for the series, if EA isn't going to make anymore, maybe a company will pick it up down the road and actually make it into a good game again.
 
Not really a fan of F2P anyway. Hopefully some day we will see a true sequel to Generals. Rather pay a full $60 for a game with SP campaign
 
I agree with others ... this could be a blessing in disguise ... I am not real happy about companies turning RTS and TBS games into Free to Play internet games ... I wouldn't mind a F2P version that supplements the full paid version and offers extra features through the F2P setting but I don't like the entire game being F2P as that generally changes the overall game balance and playability
 
Watched the video in the link, wanted to punch the fuck from EA until his head explodes.

I am curious as to what happened in the Alpha that made them realize they fucked up C&C so bad that even EA realized it was going to flop.

It was a free-to-play game. Most likely the feedback from the Alpha was so bad that EA realized they would need to spend more time and money than it was worth to fix the game and instead decided to cancel it instead. Not an entirely uncommon thing in the industry.
 
Guess this was a good thing, EA already ruined the C&C franchise ever since they bought Westwood, shut them down and released the abomination which is called C&C4 which had very little resemblance to the original series, according to the feedback from the alpha, this game would most likely have flopped anyway if it ever saw an official final release. EA shouldn't even bother making another C&C game to further ruin the franchise.
 
Maybe I'm alone in this but I don't know why they keep trying to fix what isn't broken. If they released a virtual clone of Generals, Zero Hour or RA2 with nothing more than updated graphics and maybe a few new maps, I'd gladly pay $60 for it. Hell, even the original generals would be a ton of fun if there were still people to play against.
 
EA should just cancel itself and be done ruining our memories already

Say what? Renegade (multiplayer) and C&C3(KW) were awesome. And I wasn't a huge fan but a lot of people liked Generals. However C&C4 was easily the worst thing ever created by man.

It's offical. Another one bites the dust at the hand of EA. I was a big fan of Generals and Zero Hour and was really looking forward to this. Considering all the crap EA has done to this game over the last couple years though, I always kind of felt something like this would happen.

Lol. Someone forgot to tell their marketing department. Funny thing is, EA sent me an email at 8:03pm today advertising the game and offering a free booster pack.

C&C 3 was just ok for me. I thought the last good C&C game was RA2. I had hrs of game time on that.
 
Time to start a kick-starter to buy the IP from EA and turn it back into a real game.

First thing on the menu is to redo all the originals in "HD" for modern systems. :D
 
awwww i actually wanted to play it. the older c&c made by ea (general tiberium wars) werent that awful. c&c4 is where things really just went completely garbage.

I'm not sure this is a good idea. Petroglyph games is a studio composed of many ex-Westwood employees. They haven't really released amazing games since their inception:

So there is the distinct possibility that C&C would have also died with Westwood.

IN any case, I didn't think the C&C series was doing that badly until the release of RA3. IMO, that's where it really started going downhill. C&C Generals: Zero Hour and C&C 3 were good games IMO.
 
I never got around to playing RA3 now Zero Hour. When I finally got C&C4, it ruined everything.

RA2 on the other hand was badass. Loved that game.So was TS.

That's fine but I don't want that close view that every one has had since after Tiberian Sun, I want the Classic Command and Conquer view.
 
i boycott EA products for almost 4 years now . They turned Gamedevelopers like Westwood , Origin , (soon)BioWare into total tools and sacrificed them along the way.
They managed to ruin the greatest MMORPG game , and destroyed the future of the Ultima single player Series for good . I could go on , but that shit company isnt worth the talking / writeup afford.
