Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

I wonder what they count towards that limit... do they count only items purchased by you with cash and then gifted to others? If you melt down a package gifted to you from another, and use the store credit to buy a new one to send to them, does that also count against it? I know that I've transferred packages with combined value well over $1000 on my busier days, but I've not yet run into that error. I did nearly $500 for a single customer today (4x ~110 packages) not to mention quite a few Weekend Warriors...so I'm pretty sure I've breached 1000 even today! I wonder if there is some loophole or times it doesn't count. Furthermore, thinking on it this suggests that a user should not be able to gift an Idris-P at all, not to mention the High Admiral and above packages. To be honest I'm surprised if this is still going on - I thought these gift limits were removed months ago.

I wonder if Concierge would be able to up your gift limit for you, Lorien, or assist in the transfer otherwise?

The key is the date when the item was purchased I believe. Old packages probably do not count towards the limit, only items purchased in the last 24hours. My largest single person gift to date has been a $1200 order but he had a mix of very old packages and some new so it all went through. My max for one day, I think it was over $3500 again old packages being upgraded but those were all before CIG updated their gifting policy as per the new FinCen laws.

P.S: Idris-P CAN be gifted you just have to work with support on it, I forget the exact steps at the moment as my brain is mush lol.

P.P.S: I may talk to concierge yeah but I don't like asking for special treatment lol. I'd rather save such a request for something that will truly benefit me not people on the internet using a service I provide completely free of charge. :p

Apparently, I might be able to get the bronze metal card (the word that was used was "almost") which means I might have to spend a tad more to get it.

However, it was said that T-shirts will be available again soon :).

Sorry if I am a bit dense...too much glue sniffing back in the old days ;)

I understands you don't see the Hornet upgrades in the hangar yet..ok, so are you guys hacking the skin? Or is there a way to do it legit?

Any link to a tutorial would be kind.

Gotta walk around that Super Hornet.

BTW...must say the hangar has made huge strides since introduction. I am very happy with the progress of things considering the time frame. Haters are silly. You so silly haters. You make me smile, like when my 2 yo has a tantrum, she so cute.

SolidSnakeUS - Did you talk to someone recently about a new request for a card/shirt, or is this a replacement for an old one? Strangely enough, I didn't get an email way back when, but I'd like to "upgrade" my original Rear Admiral Silver Metal card to one for my current rank (or actually, I'll probably hold off until I pass the next rank...) , and don't mind paying to do so. Likewise, a shirt.

Schoenda -

The Hornet Variants have recently been patched into the Hangar - no hacking required. However, only those that bought either the Package version (ie Spectre, SWACS, Weekend Warrior) or the full ship itself a la carte (Hornet Ghost, Hornet Tracker, Super Hornet) can actually see the ship in the Hangar Module right now. Those that had a Colonel pack of some kind or a base Hornet, and then bought one of the Upgrades (ie the $55 Super Hornet Upgrade), will NOT be able to see their ship yet, as CIG hasn't finished working out the logistics to "apply" the upgrade items to a particular package. It is coming however, so this isn't forever. For now, you'll see the "basic" version of the ship that came with your original package. This is also true for say, those who bought the Aurora LN Upgrade etc.. or any Upgrade style. Look forward to it being fixed soon.

Two questions, if you apply a skin to your ship that you bought in the store, can you then later melt it for store credits or once it is activated, it is yours forever?

Also what is the deal with all these ranks and everything? Admiral this and that, I somewhat understand spending some money upfront for the game and some ships and stuff but people dying to get to certain amount of money spent for a rank... I don't understand. Does it have an in game benefit? the card that you get is a physcial card that they will ship it to you?
Edit: Nevermind, saw it on the wiki, so it is just a card for spending x amount of money, I have spent $180 so I'll get the silver rear admiral card in game I guess

Ok I think you have a slight misconception. Items that are listed in your "My Hangar" page on the website are all giftable and refundable for store credit.
The actual process/system of applying a skin to a ship has not been implemented yet and will not be until the Beta starts. And even after you apply a skin to a ship the actual in-game item is a module that can be removed from said ship and given to any other ship you own or sold or traded to other players/NPCs etc.

Ranks are just cosmetic titles to display on the forums reflecting how much money you have spent in pledges. There is one exception, when you spend $1000 or more in pledges towards the game you unlock Concierge service. What is concierge service? You get a direct line of communication with a personal customer service rep who will answer any and all your questions and requests regarding your account or your pledges. Your questions basically get answered ahead of those who don't have the service unlocked.

This is why I make people spend their money on their end buying the items they want to upgrade with LTI. That way the money spent goes to YOUR account ledger adding up towards the Concierge unlocking tally. If someone asks you to send them money I suggest you do not deal with them because they are quite literally using your money to gain towards that rank.

the card that you get is a physcial card that they will ship it to you?
Yes it is. Here's the wiki entry explaining it and with some sample ones: http://starcitizen.wikia.com/wiki/Citizen_cards

Actually no, the Citizen Cards are physical items that were part of the Initial Kickstarter and Crowdfunding campaign packages. Only those people who pledged back then will get them. There were some quality issues with the first run of cards as well as lost cards in the mail. Due to these issues and high demand they put up a poll a few months ago.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/polls/citizen-card-replacements

This was not a poll to see which option wins, but a poll to collect the names of people and what they wanted. Customer support contacted each and every single person who voted individually confirming what was their choice as well as giving the option to buy T-shirts if they wished so. So if you didn't get to vote on the poll your name was not added to the list, but you can always contact customer service asking if you can be included in the list.

I am ok, don't need the card, although I am pretty sure it will be a collectible 20-30 years from today, even if the game is not successful ( I highly doubt it since they seem to be trying to integrate everything that we wanted).
Imagine if there were Wing Commander cards, who were given to original backers ( if there were any) of that game, showing your rank etc.. just like baseball cards, depending on the rarity they would fetch probably thousands on ebay.

New Hornet FAQ seems to suggest the Freelancer and 'Stella variants/commercials/brochures will not be out before the end of LTI but that the Upgrade Add-ons will be covered under whatever insurance the main hull has on it.

Yes, if you own a "base" package with LTI the upgrade gets LTI grandfathered as well.

So how does the insurance system work? This is what I know,
If your ship gets destroyed in combat, it is gone forever, but if you have insurace on it, you will be reimbursed. There are lawless systems where insurance is not in effect.

So, lets say you have LTI take your ship and go to a lawless system and lose your ship, what happens? $180 SuperHornet is now space dust? Can you repurchase the Superhornet with in game currency and get LTI on it again?

Lets say it gets destroyed in a system where insurance is in effect, Do they give you credits to buy a new one, or replace the old one? Is it %100 refund? Does it cover modules?

In Eve Online insurance would give you about half of what the ship costs and would not cover any modules on it. In a usual setup, the modules would make 2/3 of the total cost of a setup, so if you have spent 600mil ISK on a ship ( 200/400), then you would get back about 100mil, better than nothing, but did not prevent you from getting cold sweats and shaky hands while you are trying to PVP. You could also lose your clone in the ship with expensive implants in it, which could cost you billions, if your clone did not have medical insurance you would lose skill points, if you were flying a Tech III ship and lost your ship but not your clone, even if you were insured to the teeth, you would still lose skill points.

Moral of the story, EVE online does everything and anything in its power to take progress away from characters. They survived this long for two reasons. One is the reason above and two is that there was no actual proper Space MMO out there.

Whoa.. thats pretty gay. I just realized that the weekend warrior package does not come with the physical game/green copy and usb drive of a ship that the hornet does...

Wow....

Andyk5:
Now while I could be wrong I was under the impression that LTI for OB and VB is throughout the universe. Otherwise having LTI in a pirate ship is rather meaningless since you are likely to operate out of those lawless areas. . . That being said I think they have mentioned insurance on cargo is going to have different levels of insurance depending on what area's you are traversing. I would assume that would carry over to paid insurance as well(Non LTI).

As far as LTI, it only covers the base ship meaning no upgrades or modules are covered and would be a separate insurance. Another deterrent to going wild in your LTI ship is that their might be a waiting period while your ship is repaired/insurance assesses damages etc. . .

If I am wrong about LTI someone please correct me.

LTI insurance is on the HULL of the ship and its stock equipment only.

If you upgrade components you will be able to purchase upgrade insurance.

Your insurance comes in the form of a replacement ship delivered to you when one is available (if you lose too many right in a row you will have longer wait time etc).

This model will replace your ship with the original version (they're planning to release new versions every year or so from what I read)

Whoa.. thats pretty gay. I just realized that the weekend warrior package does not come with the physical game/green copy and usb drive of a ship that the hornet does...

Wow....

I sent a question to concierge earlier asking about the pricing on the LTI Hornet packages, still waiting to hear back.
The prices for New Backers are correct, NB Digital Colonel + Upgrade add-on = Specter, SWACS, Weekend Warrior. However the pricing for Original backers is either $15 too high or the packages should include the physical items.

and the superhornet upgrade is considered to be "stock" equipment?

Afaik, anything that comes on the ship the first time you see it in the hangar in the finished game is stock equipment. So yes, to the best of my knowledge it is.

So how does the insurance system work? This is what I know,
If your ship gets destroyed in combat, it is gone forever, but if you have insurace on it, you will be reimbursed.
True, there is no currency reimbursement though, you simply get a new ship minus any custom upgrades you added.

There are lawless systems where insurance is not in effect.
False, insurance whether it be lifetime or monthly works everywhere. What you may have read is CARGO insurance which is most definitely not covered in lawless space.

So, lets say you have LTI take your ship and go to a lawless system and lose your ship, what happens? $180 SuperHornet is now space dust? Can you repurchase the Superhornet with in game currency and get LTI on it again?
Read above

Ehh, you are all a bit confused. Let me clarify it with pictures, please examine them carefully and re-evaluate your assumptions.

I don't see what is confusing.

The Weekend Warrior for new backers gives you the same perks as the Digital Colonel with the Super-Hornet upgrade except they toss in a pistol. Weekend Warrior $180, Digital Colonel + SH upgrade = $125 + $55 = $180. Cost of gun $0.

The Weekend Warrior - LTI for original backers gives you the same perks as the Digital Colonel - LTI with the Super-Hornet upgrade except they toss in a pistol. Weekend Warrior - LTI = $180, Digital Colonel - LTI + SH upgrade = $110 + $55 = $165. Cost of gun $15. Or you could look at it as Physical Colonel - LTI(yes I know the physical items aren't included, I'm just using the price) + SH Upgrade = $125 + $55 = $180. Cost of gun is again $0. I think the price is what confused Weenis.

All I'm saying is the pricing is off for original backers.

You don't get it either lol, read his post. He was complaining about the physical items being missing from the weekend warrior as if they were supposed to be included. For that he'd have to start out with the more expensive Colonel package that includes them. You would have to pay even more out of pocket if I wasn't giving you my discounted OB prices for free. :p

Without me:

Physical goods Colonel no-LTI package $140 + super hornet upgrade $55 = $195
Non-Physical goods Digital Colonel no-LTI package $125 + Super hornet upgrade $55 = $180
Weekend Warrior no-LTI = $180

With me:

Physical goods Colonel LTI package $125 + super hornet upgrade $55 = $180
Non-Physical goods Digital Colonel LTI package $110 + Super hornet upgrade $55 = $165
Weekend Warrior LTI = $180

All I'm saying is the pricing is off for original backers.
Hmm ;)

I confused myself, I think I'm better now.

About my last response I'll say the same thing to whoever asked about the Citizen Cards. What do you have to lose by asking? The worst that can happen is they say no. ;)

Actually I was complaining that they didn't offer a package with the physical items for the super hornet, irrespective of price. :p

Just saw the new Hornets, that Ghost Hornet is looking mighty tempting.

Really really makes me all the more bummed that you can't board a ship without a docking collar and everything (basically you can't board a ship without people knowing you're boarding it).

Wish they had a way for lone wolf players to do that, something like you see on the last episode of Firefly, Objects in Space.

Where the bounty hunter hides from the ship and then comes in from behind and leaves his ship and space walks into the hull of the Serenity and makes his way aboard the ship without them knowing.

Of course there should be ways to counter this (tracking, hull alarms that aren't as easy to bypass, etc) but it'd just be nice if that game style was available to players.

Damn you, now you've got me looking for the DVD 'cause I remember that was a kick ass episode

Reminds me of some hilarious dialogue in Mass Effect 3 regarding entering spacecraft in zero G. ;)

I hope we get a 1st person, no-cockpit view w/ all HuD information displayed on screen (aka Freespace). No biggie if we don't, but it's my favorite view style.

freespace2_3.jpg

Apparently I'm $10 off from getting a Bronze Metal Card, but since it's $10 for shipping, I can get one. I can choose either Colonel or Freelancer as the title. Not sure which one to go with? Thinking Colonel?

Ya pick the higher rank one. I upgraded mine to High Admiral metal one from the Green Bounty Hunter plastic one.

Caved after watching the Hornet commercial and melted my 325A for the standard Hornet. Not because I think the 325A sucks, just because I like the re-textured Hornet a LOT more than the original. Also, the stealth variant is freaking beautiful, but not worth the $30 more when I can just slap the skin on a standard hornet.

I'm technically a "new backer" so I purchased the $30 digital scout package to gift to my brother-in-law with the arbiter package so he can get the Digital Colonel for me in exchange. Going to have to watch the alpha slots ... under 4,000 left and he can't purchase until tomorrow afternoon due to the 24 hour waiting period for melting ships.

Going for the Colonel title. I'll probably stick with the 325a mainly because it costs too much for another ship.

Part of me is kind of debating swapping out my super hornet for the physical colonel package - then grabbing the super hornet upgrade.. but iono if the physical copy of the game/usb drive will be worth it..

I haven't used physical media in a long time... so the only real thing I care about is the usb drive... which if they sold separately this would solve my dilemma..

LeKEzPx.jpg

Finished dealing with everyone though I have some outstanding items to process (hit daily limit again).

P.S: IIRC the USB drive model will be of the Constellation.

The thing holding me back from melting my bounty hunter package for a Hornet is the lack of an interior/long range flying.

Seems the 325a is best for that kind of "live in your ship" style of long range fling and fighting when you need to.

Yup, but if you can find someone with an Idris(hint hint) you can use them as a roaming stop off point to resupply/rearm, etc.
