Battlefield 4 Solo Trailer

HOLY CARP.

I was actually stunned at the level of visual fidelity... This game looks AMAZING.

It's absolutely amazing how a story trailer can reveal nothing about the story.

So what is happening in Battlefield 4? There's a battleship, an ugly Asian girl, people punching dogs, and black guys who throw apples?

Do you not understand the concept of trailers? To give you a tease without giving the whole damn thing away.

Huh. I thought those were called "teaser" trailers, and regular trailers told you what the fuck something was about. Weird.

The dog punch was a jab at Call of Duty Ghost and their "Our game has a Dog" campaign.

Lets pull a jab at COD while adopting the same strategy, lol.

They are trying really hard to make us play the campaign.

I know for a fact on day 1 aint nobody gonna be like... "shieet there's 66 player multiplayer... I think I'll go punch some dogs in single player!"

Not being From the US, what does the guy say as he punches the dog? Something like give me a bone?

Hopefully the MP will look as good but the only decent BF SP was BFBC1 a little bit open world and very funny. The rest I haven't done more than 10 mins before getting bored.

I may just be old but I have completed the SP Campaign for every single game I have ever purchased before playing a single MP game.

I'm a movie fanatic and story is a major reason why I play any game.

I'm pumped for BF4 but will still be waiting a few days to see if I can get it with an Nvidia Bundle.

I plan to play SP first when I get it.

I'll probably play it for a bit, certainly won't bother to try and complete it before playing multiplayer. Hell, I'll probably play MP first. The SP campaign in BF3 sucked(annoying railroading nonsense, looks like you can move around but you just get instagibbed for going of of the course they want you to run through, story was a mess all over the place).

At the very least I have to give them props for making a FPS that doesn't revolve around some random conflict beginning in, taking place in, or ending in middleasternstan.

Actually , you know what would make me buy this game?

If you could play as the German Shepard and rip the throats out of humans.

It's really tempting to get this on PC for the single player.

I'm definitely getting BF4 on PS4 for multiplayer. Closed systems are our only reliable defense against playing with cheaters. I expect PlanetSide 2 will be much better on PS4 for this reason alone. Cheaters are everywhere in that game.

An aircraft carrier breaks in half. No story required :)

That's Omar from The Wire punching the dog by the way :)

there are "cheaters" everywhere

From pure a single player perspective:
This is the first Battlefield since Bad Company 2, that actually got me curious enough to give it a go.
The game-play footage that has been released over the past 6 months really looks cool.

I was interested in this game until I saw that soldier punch that dog.

I'm no PETA person, but I don't think they should have put that kind of content in the game. I mean I've seen plenty of that kind of stuff in other games over the years but this really struck a chord with me this time, maybe its the matter in which they did it, just to poke at the COD crowd, but frankly it disgusts me.

Oh so its ok for a dog to kill people, takedown helicopters and eventually (probably) get killed according to the story... but its not ok to punch said dog in the face?

Its irresponsible for a company (EA) to condone such actions that they know kids are going to be playing. I mean they knew it would get people enraged and talking about their game, any publicity is good publicity like they say, but this is really bad taste just to poke fun at a competitor. I wonder how actual soldiers in the military that have companion dogs feel?

That is not EA's responsibility. That's the responsibility of EVERY parent out there who buys their kid this game without paying attention to the rating. Did you cry when Luke lost his hand to Vader? Go tell Lucas that kids are watching and they might try to cut off each others hands with lightsabers. Or go tell them Bambi's mom was "playing dead" for the camera. Violence is everywhere. Its up to PARENTS to decide what their kids see and play.

what, there's a single player game? with a story?

video game stories are absolutely amazing! book stories? tv shows? movies? bah! action game stories are way better. cuz they're always different. always surprised!

snark snark.

Speaking as someone who was mauled by a dog, if a dog attacks a human, the threat that dog poses is going to be neutralized one way or another. It's not like the character is kicking a harmless corgi. It's a freaking attack dog. What do we do to threats in first person shooters? It doesn't matter if they're dog, cougars, or humans. We blow 'em away.

Back in the real world, if another dog attacks me out of the blue, I'm not going to show it any mercy either.

I too was mauled by a dog at age 7, it was a chow/pittbull mix, I got about 100 stitches. I have also defended my dog against other dogs attacking with lethal force (fortunately the animal was ok, and I even paid the vet bill). You and I are alike, but I still think its bad judgement on EA's part to add this kind of thing into a video game set in a lifelike or "could happen" environment.

You mean like everything in every other M rated game released by every other publisher?

It is 100% the fault of the parents if they let their kids have this game in their home. It is the exact same situation with books, movies, tv shows, music, etc. Get over yourself. I'm a grown adult, I get to buy the games I want. I'm not going to put up with your telling me that I cannot, or you demanding that a publisher and developer not release such games because you're afraid that some irresponsible parent might let their kids play it. Well guess what? If the parents are so irresponsible, I'd be willing to bet serious money that a kid doing something after playing this game already had plenty of other issues anyway.

Don't want violence in your games? Go move to some country that feels the need to dictate what media you can and cannot consume.

Are they condoning dog-punching or just portraying it? There isn't enough footage to say either way.

Interestingly, the sound effect used in the sequence is the same used in Quake. A game where you, you know, kill dogs with axes. Do you also feel that id was irresponsible in allowing players to kill dogs in a game they knew children would play?

This is a game. Please disassociate a fictional game set in war where people are being regularly killed in a multitude of violent ways. If a dog is being treated harshly, it is fictional. If it is disturbing, then all I would suggest is to try and forget/avoid it.....a dog being punched is hardly extreme in comparison to the rest of it. And I love my Labrador hugely.
