39" inch 4K Ultra HD HDTV UHD 2160p LED TV DISPLAY - $600

How can I make one of these display 640x480 desktop in the center at the actual resolution with a blank border all around?
really though, I would love a 4k screen. I've been happy enough using TVs as monitors for years now.

Does anyone know if this does weird resolutions like 21:9 (2560x1080) or 21:10 (2560x1200)

I've really been wanting to get one of those 29" 21:9 Ultra Wide Screens but always seem to miss the damn sale. That and according to everything I've read the Dell has the most lag, the LG has the middle lag and the ASUS has the least lag while the Dell seems to go on sale the most, the LG I think I saw on-sale once and now seems to be MIA and the ASUS doesn't have Vesa mounts but is too new to know if it will stick around or go on sale. I'm thinking 21:9 in the middle of this screen at 60Hz would be killer and cheaper.

Only with GPU scaling. Unfortunately that means the GPU will need to send a 4K signal to the display which also means you're stuck at 30Hz.

If this is like the 50" version it should be able to do 2560X1440 (which is 16:9 ??) at 60 fps, not sure if that really helps you though.
