HOT: Lenovo y410p 779.99

Sorry but don't mean to threadjack, but are there any good deals going on for the y510p models? Specifically the one with 8gb memory, and dual 750 nvidia cards. cheapest I found it was on xoticpc, for 1099, no tax and free shipping to california ( where i'm at). Newegg and amazon has it for around 1050-1060, but after taxes, it will be around 1150 ish. Trying to find one as close to 1k as possible (shipped and taxes included)

This is the normal price. It's been at this price for months. In fact, I think it was actually available cheaper during the end of the back to school buying rush.

720P kills it imo. My 5" cell phone has a better screen.

Looks like you can get the 1600x900 display for $50 more. Still not great, but not too bad either.

This thing looks like a pretty well designed laptop actually. I really like the ports and keyboard design just from looking at it at least.

The screen isn't very good though from my experience or maybe I'm just looking at wrong from a comparative stand point. Black levels are pretty bad and so is contrast. I'm actually returning it because of this. Aside from that it is pretty good.

Keyboard is good though.

Personally I didn't really like the port placement.

Laptop is pretty quiet though.

If you don't mind the noise I'd consider this alternative - http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7352-clevo-w350st-p-5842.html

How does the 755M do in gaming? I'm guessing at that resolution any mediocre card would be fine :p

They limit their Y series notebooks to 14" and 15.6" screens...I'd love for them to cram Y innards into one of their G7xx notebooks. That 17.3" 1600x900 screen to me would be far more useful (and get about 30% higher framerates) than 1080p wedged into a 14" or 15.6" display...
