So I ordered a external USB 3.0 Drive from Amazon on the 14th, it got delivered yesterday and today I got see a deal from Tiger Direct for similar drive for $30 less, $25 if you account for s&h. So I contact Amazon support to see if they would be willing to give me a gift cert or something otherwise I wanted an RMA. They refused, I asked for supervisor who also refused, I was flexible would have taken $10~12, split the difference, you know, nope. "We don't do price match." I said, okie dokie RMA please.

Ordered the drive from TD, going to save myself $25 for a better drive and just SMDH @ Amazon. My prime membership is going to be coming up here in the next month, and might not want to renew if that's going to be "company policy." Now they are going to receive open box item back AND I already bough new drive from TD. Oh well

I see nothing wrong here other than your entitlement. Amazon makes it very clear they do not price match jack shit unless it's a TV or cell phone. With that said though, on many various occasions they will cross company policy and do price match on items that are usually not supposed to be price matched. Again though, you are not entitled to price matches, other than TV's and cell phones.

So you wanted them to price match a "similar" drive and they wouldn't?

That sounds like an entirely reasonable response on their part.

I think you are being ridiculous.

Would Best Buy or any other retailer on the face of the planet give you the difference if you were to buy something from them, then a few days later find it cheaper somewhere else?

amazon has the best customer service out of anybody i have ever purchased from.

Considering how much I spend on Amazon, yeah, I do feel "entitled" to give them an opportunity to make me feel like they earn my business. It's all good I ordered a better drive from Tiger Direct, got return shipment authorization as well as label from Amazon, and will be happy either way. You're missing that point :) Amazon could have avoided the RMA, the cost of the return label, having an open box item, etc, and just given me a "store credit" which would have avoid the extra cost they incurred.

they actually do.

I am pretty sure that the entire point of you post had NOTHING to do with helping with Amazon's profitability. Sounded more like a bit of princess-syndrome.

Agreed most everyone on earth does a price adjustment match if it goes on sale or found cheaper on another site. Too be honestly if they gave him a gift card what would they lose? Nothing because that means he actually has to purchase another item from them to use the gift card. Now add the Prime membership in on top of that. Amazon is winning all the way around.

Agreed - you are acting entitled. Maybe if the drive was the exact same model, I would agree with you. But expecting them to price match a "similar drive" is ludicrous. OP, you're in the wrong here, not Amazon.

If it was the same model, I would agree with you. But you did the right thing. Just give TD your business and return the other one to amazon.

Heck, I returned a package of toddler training pants to amazon because I found it for much cheaper at wal-mart.
Amazon didn't care. They paid return shipping, I didn't even ask them to credit the difference because the products were different; amazon's was the 4-pack ($4 per) and wal-mart's was the 3-pack ($2.2 per). So now I've learned. Some things are just cheaper at retail B&M and amazon doesn't always have the best prices.

I just hate going to wal-mart. :D

Ive never tried a price match but its probably the "similar item" that tripped you up...for all they know its a manufacturers close out , or a refurb....
if it were the same item you may have had different results

They are willing to PM for the same exact item if it's within 7 days. I don't see any other exception.

Yeah unfortunately, since its a "similar item" the PM doesn't really apply.

Brand new retail unit from TD, not some pos podunk place. Linked it, no rebate. Anyhow, didn't make sense to have me return the item, which I got RMA for, and not figure something out. Bought a $25 Batman Origins, so TD price made it free. Winning either way.

You win some, you lose some. I've been on either side of that story, I'm sure you have too.

I know my luck is indeed bad. They could run in say it is raining $100 dollar bills outside. I would go out side and be the only one to get hit in the head with rolls of quarters falling out the sky. If it didn't kill me. Then I would have to pay for the ambulance ride and the doctor bill. Life really hurts sometimes.

Yup, just didn't make sense. What they would have been able to give me as a "store" credit would have been less than what it is going to cost them to ship back and the ding they are going to take on the open box, hence my head scratch.

I dont see the issue here... Stop venting dude.... Yes, it is well known that amazon does not pricematch. Get over it. They dont need to.

Also, as another user pointed out, you said "similar" drive? So it wasnt even the same model? Thats a no go by any pricematch standard right there.... Pure stupidity that you would expect anyone to pricematch there.... Just sayin...

I would have bought from Amazon. But, they've earned my loyalty after many years of amazing service.

Seems OP earned himself a well-deserved custom title. :D

Amazon CS has been nothing but stellar to me and to everyone else I've seen post about them (which has been a lot in Genmay). I could seen them price matching for a similar item, but I wouldn't expect them to and would totally understand if they didn't. I definitely wouldn't make a thread about it in an effort to call them out on it, because that really just seems whiney. You did what you thought you had to do to get a better deal. Get over it and drive on.

LOL thread backfire :D

Hardly, I still get my drive cheaper, get a free game's worth actually, and Amazon still gets a used drive back that they have to re-stock. Could have been avoided by them, makes no difference to me. Just

LOL, this coming from you who is still bent out of shape by Newegg? Come now, let's call a spade a spade.

You seem to have as much understanding of HardOCP's Newegg issues as you do your own shopping skill level.

The new title isn't insulting enough imo. Nobody forced you to buy it, nobody owes you anything because you feel you could have gotten a better deal somewhere else, and if it was me I would have told you to fuck off and laughed at you for getting mad for something that was entirely your own choice. I wouldn't even have let you do an RMA without a restocking fee. No possible way. The Entitlement Generation fellas. FAIL.

I have to go beat myself in the head with a hammer. Need to remove all these crazy post from my memory.

This is why I never set my standards high. That way I will never get disappointed.

So.... You're mad a company wouldn't price match a completely different item then what you bought?.... Riiiight lmao give me a break...

I'd like a custom title also

Just post something with some hashtags in the title or the body of the message and Kyle might be able to hook you up with the #douchme one I just vacated?
