27" QNIX QX2710 Evolution 2 impressions

I'd ask for the bill from customs if I was you just to make sure it is legit. Would not surprise me if they cancel the charge, shipping agents around the world add on dodgy charges.

Thanks. I haven't had the time to do anything about it but they sent me 4 or 5 sheets of paper...I believe a couple of those were scanned images of the customs bill.

I'll give them a call tomorrow either way. The truth is, I bought 3 monitors for $307 each and I would have been perfectly happy paying $327 each upfront...it's just annoying getting an unexpected bill 2 months later.

I mounted mine to a desk and cant figure out how to take off the clear plastic base piece. Does it come off without taking the whole thing apart?

I ordered one from a seller on Amazon. It shipped from Korea and got to my house the very next day. It was very well packed and arrived fine. I can't use it until all the parts for my new PC arrive.

You'll have to remove the bottom 3 screws and wedge the bezel out. The clear plastic piece is slightly behind the pcb held in place with a sheet of steel.

Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to get the whole process done if you have the right tools.

Got my monitor today! Shipped from Korea on Sunday and delivered this afternoon. I just downloaded ToastyX's Custom Resolution Utility and have it running at 120hz no problem. How can I tell if this overclock is going to be "stable"?

Unfortunately, the monitor a pretty noticeable yellow tint to it, especially compared to my ASUS VG236H (120hz 3d vision monitor that's sitting right next to it. Is this something correctable if I were to purchase a monitor calibrator?

Windows calibration works fine for free.

How long did it take you to get them? I placed an order with MiseMet last Thursday and it didn't ship until this Monday. The estimated delivery is like a 2 week window.

I ordered them on a Thursday and received them on the following Monday.

damn - the prices of these thigns are going up - about a week or two ago you could get a 27" Qnix for a base price of 289 -- now all I see is 320 minimum

Yeah, I noticed the same thing yesterday. I was about to buy another one.

I just checked again and red-cap is selling a Perfect Pixels matte version for $290, but there's no option to buy a SquareTrade warranty.

Well its now friday... I ordered my Qnix on tuesday, and the DHL tracking info shows my monitor is still in Korea - is this normal?

I did get a text message yesterday from DHL telling me that my item will be delivered shortly. They also said that i would have around £23 (approx $36) in tax to pay, and that i should pay right away to avoid any delays - so i payed in full, and my monitor has still not moved...

I know most people tend to get theirs in around 3 work days, its the 3rd day today.

I got my Qnix the other day. for those of you who like to know, I order from dream-seller pixal perfect.

- zero dead pixal
- i was able to OC to 110 Hz. at 120 Hz I pass the camera capture frame test but the background had wrong pixal color in some area, not sure if it's the video card that did it or the monitor.if someone knows plz let me know.
- there some black light bleeding but not a big deal to me.

ps. inside my package there is a letter saying they open it and test it before they sent it. not sure if they did or not because I order the perfect pixal one but i did get zero dead pixal.

I got my QX2710 Evolution 2 DPort yesterday and it's overclockable.
I've been heard 1440p with multi inputs with a scaler cannot be, so it might be worthy to inform.
I can only afford to tiny bit though as my card is relic 9600GT.
I tried to add some in Nvidia custom resolution.(no hassle with custom timings)

72hz then 75hz -> Fine.
80hz -> No good. (flickers on some buttons, windows aero stopped functioning)
I'm on 75hz now and I don't see any gamma or color change between 60hz and 75hz.

I couldn't dare to try further but with any recent moderate VGA, it could be much more.

Have you tested the display rate?

Have you tested the display rate?

I ordered mine back in July. I just received a 21.90 tax/duty bill from fedex. Wtf is this crap?

Would be interested to hear more about this version as you use it more. Just how bad is the input lag introduced by the scaler?

Also, I don't really understand how it works technically, but is that input lag only in effect when something is being scaled? (i.e. if my computer is outputting 1440p and my PS3 is outputting 1080p, would only the PS3 have the input lag, or would they both?)

Hey guys!

After waiting almost a week for my Qnix, it finally arrived this morning.

First i will start by saying that i am VERY critical when it comes to monitors, and i know what i am looking for.

Out of the box i thought... its has decent image quality. But then i noticed some very disappointing things:

1. A very noticable yellow tint to everything, as such white was not white but a dirty yellow. But i managed to correct most of that using my Spyder 3 Elite, still not perfect but better than before.

2. Ive read a lot of feedback about this monitor, particularly with regards to its black level, which people seem to agree that it is very good. I saw in one review that the black level measured 0.13cm/2 at a brightness on around 140cm/2 for a contrast ratio of over 1000:1. But for whatever reason, the black levels on my Qnix are horrible. With my Qnix calibrated to 120cm/2 its black level is over 0.32cm/2 which gives a contrast ratio of under 500:1. Blacks on my Qnix are not black but quite gray, its noticable even during the day. Dont know what could be causing the high black levels, could it be a problem with the panel... ???

3. There is some backlight bleeding, not the worst i have seen, but enough to be noticable during the day.

But some good news is that i havnt been able to detect any stuck/dead pixels... not yet anyway.

Also i am hoping someone can help me with overclocking this monitor, i have followed all the guides online and youtube, but no matter what i do, i dont see any refresh rates higher that 60hz. I am using a HD 7970 and have patched the drivers to allow the higher refresh rates using CRU, but upon restarting my computer i am given an error from CCC saying something like, no drivers detected or there is something wrong with my drivers. When i go to change the refresh rate (right click desktop > Resolution>Advanced>monitor) there is no option for any refresh rates, even 60hz is missing and is replaced with something like "Default hardware.. .something or other", no numbers. I have tried several times with no success, although i do get an error when using the ATI patch that says "cryptuiwizdigitalsign: failed) - i have tried enabling test mode using different methods including DSEO. although upon restart no test mode message appears on the screen... Hopefuly someone can help with this.

is everyone getting the matte monitors?
up to $324 now

has anyone here done the mods shown on overclockers.
I want to take the case off, the say it eliminates a lot, most, all of the bleed and yellow.

I purchased the X-star variant on Thursday, but yess matte model, just awaiting it's arrival.

Already have a Beefy 24awg DVI-D cable from monoprice, and found a pretty good stand at a thriftstore.

Hey I just received one of these bad boys from Korea. Free 2-day shipping. I was like what?? Really?? Quite amazed with my qnix monitor. No dead pixels at all, just a little backlight bleeding but I can live with it since I paid 270 bucks for the thing. Now its sitting at 100Hz. Havent tried 120 yet, but Ive noticed that color does suffer a little.

yeah, which seller has it for $270? The cheapest I see is $309, but most are at $319.

I did some asking around and they said yea 280 and you pay shipping or 320 and its shipped to you.
Are they jacking up the price or is this now with shipping added?

they keep going and they will be the same as dell lol

anyone comment on matte vs shiny
I can only remember the sony matte monitor they got me at work years ago.
you needed a flashlight to see the picture.
BUT NO GLARE
hey glare this thing up your A#@#

The prices are finally going up after holding steady if not dropping all summer. Think related to tighter stock now.

And the "yellow tint" may be bleed.

eBay. The seller is accessorieswhole....

Just checkd my purchases. They offer it now for 319!!

I got it like two weeks ago, I think they regained conscience.

Finally got all my new PC parts and got everything setup and able to test this monitor. There is some backlight bleeding but not enough to worry about. No dead or stuck pixels. The only annoying thing is that there looks like there is a fingerprint smear on the back side of the glass (glossy version). I can only see it on lighter backgrounds (but not white), buy my eyes are always drawn to it. Not sure if it's enough to go through the hassle of returning it or not since everything else is fine.

I bumped it up to 96hz and applied the color profile that was made for it. Colors are awesome.

I paid a little bit more than most since I bought it from a seller on Amazon. It shipped from Korea to my porch in Florida in less than 24 hours. Amazing.

I just ordered one and will give feedback.

I do think its kinda lame you have to take the unit apart to remove the mount stub.
But I will probably remove it and go the mod route after a while.

Already dl all the oc tools so something new to play with.
flwolf whats the color profile?

is there a problem oc this monitor and having a 60hz 1080p plugged in for you second desktop monitor, basically is this one monitor only type of thing. If so thats ok.

Just got mine set up today, overclocks like a champ with the stock cable. Looks pretty good, bit of BLB in the top right but not enough to make me want to open it. Pixels look very good, no brights, can't see any dead.
Seller was accessorieswhole. $360 Aussie, shipping was quick, but got stuck for days waiting to be processed by customs at Brisbane.

There are plenty of colour profiles for 60/96/100/120hz on OCN at the first post of the owners thread if you haven't seen em yet. There is no problem with OCing the monitor and having another. Got my TV running 60hz hdmi and the Qnix O/C to 120hz.

thanks picket can't wait.
hope to have it before the weekend.

I dl all the toasty stuff and did not see it.
I will go look again, sounds like me :)

Cool. Post back your impressions. I'm about to order a second Qnix for use at work.
It will give my eyes some relief and make my coworkers jelly. :D

Yeah you were right, bf3 is playable at near 100fps with decent enough settings and the 7870LE. Great monitor. Awesome value (assuming it doesn't break)

Cool. don't forget to change your sig! join the Qnix club!

I may try to remove the smudge that is on the back side of my glossy screen, but I'm wondering how easily the glass comes off. I've watched the videos that show how to remove the bezel, but does anyone know what extra steps I would need to take to remove the glass?

Here is a pic of the "smudge" on my screen. It's under the glass but I'm not sure if it's the screen or if it's a fingerprint smudge. I don't see it on white or very dark backgrounds. It's worse than the picture makes it seem.

just another reason to avoid the models with glass.
