T1 PRI to SIP gateway recommendations

Just installed a Patton 4970 for a Comcast PRI as part of a 3CX system a few months ago. So far it's been flawless. Depending on how many active channels you expect on your PRI, you'll want to watch the licensing for the Patton's. Their base unit allows for 15simultaneous channels and then you can license the other 8. Got a great deal from 888voip.

depending on how hardcore you want to be, a cisco 2911 would do it as well, toss in a PVDM and fire it up. dont know your budget or use case though. also, configuration for cisco voice gateways is far from what i'd call "straight forward"

also almost forgot to mention you'd need a VWIC installed to term the PRI.

Sangoma makes a Vega too that should work...

what are you interfacing the SIPs with? i just went back and forth on what i was going to do with this too and ended up just getting a sangoma pcie card... just installed it into a freepbx server not 10 minutes ago... probably one of the cheaper solutions, mine has HW timing i think and i got it for $815 i think..... now i can go set the thing up... PRI install is the 30th...

i heard really nice things about xorcom usb channelbanks too, those might work well, but yea, it all depends on what you're interfacing this with...

As long as you use a current fork of FreePBX that uses Dahdi the Xorcoms are pretty slick. All Firmware and configuration are pushed to them on boot so they are effectively plug and play which is great for disaster time.

Well, initially it'd be into a switchvox appliance, but I have an interest in keeping it a stand alone device so I can change the switch out in the future if necessary.

yes, they're quite snazzy, also, 2 usb ports so you can have redundant PBXs etc, i gave a serious thought to them, but i don't like that they charge you so much for licensing additional features.... so i just ended up going with the sangoma card instead... i thought about getting a dual port but figure if i get another PRI, the way my setup is organized, i'll probably just get another server too....

ah... yea... look into the Sangoma Vega 100 (for single port).... as far as i'm concerned, you can't go wrong with a Sangoma

I rather like Cisco router configuration myself. We're moving from CUCM to Lync and they can pry my ISR from my cold, dead hands.

How cheap do you want to go? You mind using older used equipment that is EOL?

Cisco 1760 w/ 32f: $35
128MB RAM: $28 (uses 2600xm memory, needed to get latest IOS w/ voice)
PVDM-12 x2: $60 (supports 36 T1 channels using Flexi-6 G.711)
VWIC-2MFT-T1: $27 (cheaper to get 2 T1 than 1 T1)

Total: $150 + s/h

I'd be interested in this also. I have a couple of clients that use rhino interface cards, all works well there. I also have in my spare parts a cisco IAD2400 (2431-16FXS) with a T1/E1 interface and 2 lan ports. I'm guessing I could set this up as a spare in case one of those cards craps out some day?

Any pointers on how to do so?
