Like a month ago I did get a few random deposits from Blizzard for like ~$20 each though. Anyone else get an email like this?

Yes, they can still debit the account as long as it is an "active" account. So, maybe you could close/cancel the account. But they also have lawyers and other fun legal people to hunt you down or suspend/cancel your D3 account.

Choose your battles wisely....

yeah they can and will get it back from you. the bank gave me $1800 in an account and i waited almost 2 weeks before they finally just took it back. I was tempted to take it and try but its pretty much theft if you do.

 Lol ... I already removed all funds from my paypal account, can they withdraw directly from my attached bank account?

yes.

You cant tell me you didnt know there was a mistake when you all of the sudden had an extra $1400.

So you took the money out your account that was put in there by mistake? You are stating you got 2 deposits of $20 dollars and now $1,444 dollars. Trying to figure out if you took $1,484 out your paypal account.

NO. you guys are misunderstanding me. They put 2 deposits of ~$20 and ~$15, that is still in my paypal acccount. Then I got this email for $1440.00. So I took out all the money from my papal account except the $35. My question was can they go pull the $1440 (which I never saw) directly from my bank account. It sounds like some of you are saying yes.

So you never got $1440 from them?

are you sure it's not a phishing scam?

I would change your paypal password ASAP and make it super long and complex. Also, delete your bank account info that is linked to your paypal.

If they accidentally give you $1440, then yes

Otherwise, no.

If you did not get any such money, you should contact Blizzard and Paypal before you get debited

Correct, Only deposits from blizzard within the last 6 months were for ~$15 & ~$20.
It doesn't seem like phishing, they're not asking me to do anything, the email address is [email protected] and the website referred to is correct.

I would send them both an email. Get screenshots of a transaction list too (though I dont' know how much that would help).

If they still try to, sue! for causing you emotional distress. At that point, you've already tried to make sure they know about the error. It's not like you can do much else, at that point.

On hold... making me suffer through what sounds like irish folk music, that's got to be worth some $$ in emotional suffering. I'll send them an email as well like you suggested.

If you never got the money, then there is an even bigger screw up than I thought. Definitely get copies of your paypal credit/deposit log and email a copy to blizzard notifying them that they have an error on their side and never "accidentally" credited you $1400. And like J Macker said, remove your Bank Account linking.

Another reason to hate blizzard....

Ok, update. Basically the rep said that they're having lots of problems with their payment systems, and misplacing decimal places(WTF) so the transaction is probably for $14.40. I'm going to check and see if that was the amount they deposited before, but hopefully the last I hear from Blizz..
Thanks for the responses!

I can't hate on blizz too much, although D3 was a giant disappointment, I think I made at least 100x on my $60 investment in that game lol.

I did the same, though I only made 10x my investment myself. But then again, I quit long ago and started playing Planetside 2. My friend still plays and its ridiculous how much money he has made on it. Some people buy the stupidest stuff sometimes.....

I'm glad they are only after 14 bucks instead of 1400 though! makes a lot more sense. Good luck.

Be careful. I would contact Paypal directly about this especially if you never received the money. Check your paypal statement just to be sure. A few months ago I got a fake Paypal email that was supposed to be a receipt. If I hadnt been paying attention I would have though my paypal was hacked. Best to call them.

What is it people are doing to make 10-100x $60 on D3?

Play the auction house, instead of playing the game lol. You need to have a good knowledge of the value of items, then look for discrepancies and buy them, and resell at correct price. Or, influence the market yourself if you have enough gold. Or get very lucky, I bought an item for 50 million gold ($25 real money at the time) and sold it on a forum for 300 million gold + $1500 LOL. :p

A guy I used to do runs with made several thousand dollars on there in a few days. He bought out all of the horadric hamburgers(a worthless item) from the Auction House before a new patch was coming out. Then over the period of several days he "leaked" in game photos and spread rumors of how powerful this item was going to be, then he slowly started selling them on the AH at extremely inflated prices. Profit.

Yeah, I already talked to blizzard and paypal. It was just stupid incompetence by Blizzard, as usual.

That guy's account should have been banned and not allowed him to ever come back. Don't get me wrong people are really gullible. But it takes a pretty low life person to do something like that. World is honestly bad enough without people scamming people on the internet.

Awesome, so he was a scumbag. Great to know.

I found someone from LA put over £3000 in my account many years ago.
I had no idea who it had come from so asked the bank.
They couldnt tell me so I asked what I should do.
She said spend it lol !

I sat on it for a few months and it didnt move, coool.
Never had a request to return it or any mention of it.
I'm still baffled, but have a better hifi.

Ooooh, so that's where my $6000 went... I have been looking for that. Well then, ship it over, I have to pay Blizzard. :p

Fixed that for you.

lol

Can't fig out who is worse...blizz or payal. Gl getting it resolved.

I don't mind Blizzard, Paypal really pisses me off though. I had to deal with them again today. Shoot me please. I tried to withdraw money to my bank account, and a message popped up(which doesn't usually happen) that said please verify, I click ok, "your cellphone is not verifiable" please call us. For your convenience here is a code so you don't have to wait on hold. This code expires in 60 minutes. I call right away, put in the code, get put on hold. stay on hold for 95 minutes until my cell phone dies. go home, call again, wait another 49 minutes and finally talk to someone. problem fixed, but seriously WTF!?
