System requirements for Battlefield 4.

dat 3Gb GDDR5 and Windows 8 (DirectX 11.2)

I suspect many people here just got that sinking feeling its time to upgrade ... again.

so according to those specs an AMD six-core is equivalent to an Intel quad core...so BF4 will support DX 11.1?...does that even add anything important graphically other then native 3D support?

it's for performance, not pretties.

visually, not likely, better optimization and fps likely.

30gigs? god damn, Hope you bastards have a big enough SSD, or else it's getting installed on one of those old things that spin a lot.

Well Battlefield 3 right now is at 34GB with all expansions. Better reserve more space if you're planning to get the expansions.

jesus christo.... i'm ready... ^_____^ might have to pick up a phys copy if predownload isnt available...30gb is a lot...google aint offered everywhere! :O

If anyone actually thinks their current setups (you know who you are) are shit based on this piece of crap they spat out...

The recommended doesn't make sense. Their suggested nvidia video card doesn't have that much vram.

My nephew's 670 would run the same Skyrim mods as mine, but his usage would be pegging 2GB and my 7950 would be at 2.8GB. That make sense?

The minimum specs are even more ridiculous than the recommended. There's no way you could reasonably play BF3 on a 2.4ghz Core2Duo, let alone BF4.

I think I'll Skip this game because I can't even play Battlefield 3...... Orgin download speeds are like really slow and if you buy the game be prepared to download forever!!

I had the game installed once took a week to download it but uninstalled it for some reason now it's takes like a year to download.

Working in IT I deal with a lot of people at my office who come to me when their kid purchases a game for a computer at home (typically ye old desktop the family dumped on him when dad/mom upgraded to a laptop rather than throw away) and has trouble running it. Even though they went to BestBuy/MicroCenter and upgraded the RAM/videocard to what it says the game will run.

I'm fairly sure PC gaming companies simply rattle off the specs to where it will install, and will run at 12fps with everything at the utter minimum (and potentially even lowering crap though ini files) and not set the computer on fire.

You dont make sense for what question he was asking. The 7870 and the 660 only have 2GBs anyway.

bah.. I'l be comfy playing it at 1080p.. If I decide to get it, that is.

edit.. Crap, I need to update my sig, haha

What I was trying to tell him is that VRAM doesn't make that big of a difference as Nvidia has a method for dealing with games that can utilize more than 2GB of VRAM by using the example of Skyrim running equally well on both of our systems.

I thought he would understand that from my example.

Just because a monitor says its using a certain amount of RAM doesnt mean it actually is. It could just be reserving if theres a need kind of like how BF3 works.

Ok good then. It might only use 512mb of VRAM then.

BF3 was almost unplayable on a Core 2 Quad Q6700, how do they expect anyone to play BF4 on a Core 2 Duo at min specs?!?

They mean it will install, after tweaking it for a while it will run at like 12fps, and your computer won't catch on fire. They still get the sale and don't give a crap past that.

This is nothing new with PC gaming.

With what video-card? I was able to run BF3 at ~50fps with most(not all) settings at low on my Core2Duo. IMO, that's what minimum specs should indicate; The game will run at a playable framerate if you're willing to put up with low or minimal fidelity.

I was able to fun the game, but there was always this frustrating input lag that I could never get rid of no matter how low I set the game. Finally got my friends i7-930 and it went away.

I played it on high at 1080p just fine with a q6700 and a GTX275 with 40fps

There is no doubt the specs are monstrous. Makes me wonder what Star Citizen and Fallout 4 will require next year.....

Probably at a lower resolution with low res textures. It'll probably use more at 1080p (and even more 2560x) and high quality textures... but I'd be surprised if it actually USED the 3 GB it recommends. Like others have said, it seems really odd that the recommended video cards don't even have that amount of RAM. I wonder if it's not a typo.

Id rather go play something that does something new. Maybe ill come back to the series after five more rehashes.
