I have a Samsung SyncMaster LD190n
when i bought it from newegg, it said it was a 1440x900 screen
when i received it, it only did 1360x768 and the Newegg page was changed shortly thereafter
after plugging it into several different computers, it would seem that it's forgotten that it can display at that size, because it will only produce 1280x1024

there was an issue months back where installing the driver for the screen, installing the driver for the graphic card, installing the cable ?? something happened and windows (no matter which machine i used) would only see this screen as displaying at 1280x1024

currently am running latest (nonbeta) AMD cat driver on a 7970 on the computer its currently plugged into.

Any suggestions guys?

Come to turn on my machine this morning, and now the syncmaster is doing non-stop Auto Adjustment, which means i can't turn it off without just wholly unplugging it. and it is also now displaying at 1024x768 as the highest res. is it time to let this monitor sleep with the fishies?

It definitely sounds like the monitor is on it's way out.

Unless you have already uninstalled all drivers and then reinstalled, and also tried the screen on another computer just to verify it is not your PC.

it has less than a 1000 hours of use out of it since it was bought, and i got a lemon. well, i suppose out of 20+ monitors bought in the last 4 years, 1 isn't too bad. thanks for your thoughts.

The EDID (monitor information it sends to the gfxcard) could be messed up.
The monitor will no longer "know" the resolutions and the computer will send analog signals in case it no longer provides the information that it's a digital display.
You could try to use an EDID override (ignore monitor data) to force the card to give you the correct resolution as option.
(It's been a while since I did this ( windows XP.. ) Others will know more about the methods currently used in such a case)
