I think more cable companies need to have apps like this but limiting it to XBL Gold members only is sure to draw criticism.

Xbox 360's TV and movie offerings just keep growing. Microsoft announced Tuesday that its Time Warner Cable television app is finally live and hosting 300 channels, including Bravo, Cartoon Network, CNN, Comedy Central, and more. Besides a bevy of channels, the app also features a TV guide; filtered search based on shows, channel names, and genres; Kinect voice and gesture control; access to genre-based radio stations; and more.

For a real valueless add on they could bundle this junk with more junk: AOL.
 
haven't turned my xbox on in over a year -- even longer since I've had gold membership...

no way they are going to give 300 channels out for free, so not only do you pay for the internet (i have time warner internet), you pay for the gold access, then I'm sure you pay AGAIN to access those channels in app.

fuck all that greed -- glad I pulled the plug ages ago and just download my TV via torrents.
 
Requires you have TWC television service, just like the iOS and Android apps. Authenticates to your cable box.
 
Actually not a bad deal. I have TWC tv service. Don't want to pay for an extra cable box in my office, so, this will work nicely.
 
yea... real news would be let me pick a non-local cable provider and stream it over xbox. I do like my directv tho.
 
I have BrightHouse, which is TWC & RoadRunner. Should work... Either way, this may be a really nice way to cut the cord, and get rid of cable. (Always a hard choice because of Discovery Channel, and sports not televised OTA).

I don't think they flag your account for only having broadband through them to prevent this from working, we'll see.

It authenticates with your TWC TV account which authenticates with the MAC address of your cable box. So, no TV service, no TWC TV app.

Time Warner has not been on my fun companies to deal with list. Problematic DVR service, super high box rental fees, and horrible customer service. When they first came out with the android and iOS app, I thought this was a good solution to trim the fat with the cable box rentals. Unfortunately, the quality was not that great, even on tablets. (I had the HDMI out hack working on android.) There were many disconnects and timeouts. It was actually cheaper for me to go out and purchase a HDHomerun prime and use an Xbox as a media center extender. The HDHomerun actually paid for itself in three months since I turned in all of my boxes back to time warner. I think this app is too little too late as there are other solutions that fare much better.
 
All I watch these days is Netflix, YouTube, and Crunchyroll. I read a lot too. Life is better this way.

This is pretty cool. I can move my 360 to my other room now instead of paying for another box.
 
I have TWC, this somewhat interests me.

It being behind the Live paywall, kills that interest completely. Not paying for the right to use something I am having to already pay for...

Internet + TWC Cable + XBox Live = Useless app behind 3 paywalls
 
Xbox is nothing but greedy fucks. Pay to go online --> pay to do what the fck you wanna do. This is why i stick to PC > consoles ,Shitty ass money hungry dipshit outta date consoles.
