Migrating from one LSI MegaRAID card to another

I have a LSI MegaRAID 9260-8i card and I am trying to upgrade to a LSI MegaRAID 9271-8iCC.

The array in question is a 3 disk RAID 5. Ideally, I would like to migrate it to the new controller. I tried plugging it in and the new card detected the foreign drives, but failed to import them. Is there a way to make this work?

If not, I can just buy two new drives and make a temporary RAID 0 or JBOD to hold the data.

it really should have no problem, I went from 9260 to 9265 with no issue. my only advice would be to keep trying.
 
gjs278, how did you do it? What else did you do besides plugging your drives into the new card?
 
That is odd. The 9265 and 9271 have the same processor, firmware and drivers. I have tried it several times and tried updating the firmware. I guess I will give it one more shot and then call LSI tomorrow.

I've gone from both my 9260 to 9265 and in reverse. No issues, pretty sure I did them all through the card bios and not the megaraid utility though.
 
I called LSI and they said that it is a known bug in the firmware and that they have a fix in the works. The fix is apparently 1-2 months away.
 
Got to love it when you find bugs. Just bought my first LSI controller. So far so good
