I still don't get how you bend the pins LOL. Why are you on here raging when you were the one that damaged the product then tried to get a return for it. If I was newegg I would have told you the same thing. They still gave you a %10 discount when they did nothing wrong.

hi!
did you solve problem with socket pins?
I want to share this info with you.

I have P8Z68 deluxe(non gen3) and I had similar problem with pins. I put cpu into the socket, do not ask me how, and I damage around 5 pins. If i remeber corectly 2 pins "fly away", 3 pins I was abale to fix with a very small screwdrive. I was trying to flat/put them into wright possition..

Well, I kinda made it. PC - motherboard is working just fine, i hopw it stays this way for a wile.
I would be happy to post pictures but I am afarid, if I take out the cpu, "shit" will happen.
Damaged pins are in location: left lower corner.

no i never solved it...i was able to rma it again for the replacement

with my luck i'd prolly end up causing more damage lol

Newegg has always sucked in customer service in my experience. And this experience is nowhere near 'new.' I've had to pay return s/h several times when they were in the wrong (such as sending me the wrong product) and never got any kind of compensation.

did you try leaving your feedback on resellerratings.com ?

i'm still in the dark on that one since i did a normal install and the damn corner got bent somehow i wanna blame the cooler but as suggested earlier it wasn't that

i was raging over the situation thats all...but thats all over with right now as i got the replacement working just fine doing the same normal install

Newegg has been doing this now for several years. There is another thread in Hard Forum that several people who have been screwed by Newegg, including me. I do many, many builds and never damaged a motherboard. They said I did on a $300 Asus motherboard, which is a lie. Because they bent the pin, they would honor a return, they said and I quote "Get the manufature to honor the warranty'.

Newegg has been having some serious issues lately in the last few years with peoeple at the top, includes the founder. And issues wth employees getting screwed also a law suit was filed. They were selling fake Intel parts from China. They sell substandard parts, yes.

I made a BBB complaint, FTC complaint, and to the Attorney General of California and other goverment enties. They log the complaint, they may not do anything, in case of Atty Gen. He didn't do anything, they said a letter was sent to them about the complaint. Newegg tried to go public but pulled out. Hoping it was because the public is not satisfied with there selling practices.

This is the USA and we should not stand for companies that take atvantage of the buyer. This is not China. Say something! Write it down or online complaint. Do something!

Recently I tried to order a processor an Intel i7 4770K, a boxed sealed part. I didnt' think it would go through, it didn't. I guess I'm still black balled. They cancelled the order without reason. Ha Ha real funny!

Dell an American company bends over backwards to satisfy their customers. Fry's Electronics does, Best Buy ties but some times they fall, but attempt is so much better than not doing anything.

They bought them from a known distributor. The object is to buy from the cheapest in distribution to maximize profits. Plus you take a hit on interest when your product sits on the shelf for months. I am one of the people who order from distribution, I would know how this works. (I don't work at newegg) It wasn't Newegg's fault that one of their distribution channels was selling counterfeit CPUs.

my preference is to go to frys or another localish place like central computers to get hardware....no shipping fuss but frys has never sold the maximus v gene board for some reason....odd as they had the iv-z....go figure

anyways i remember that fake cpu mess ugh what a clusterbeeeeeep

did you try buying the 4770k during one of those sales? otherwise that is just messed up unless it was a simple lack of quantity on hand due to supply

i wrote down a complaint online and it seems to have worked in my situation :)

every time i hear something about reporting to the bbb it just gets added to a list and thats about it

as for getting asus to lift a finger it'll cost you almost as much as the price of a new board....cookie cutter responses like "Get the manufature to honor the warranty" is just another tactic used for writing responses to customer issues these days and it only ends up aggravating the end user even more

Micro Center per their website none on hand. Ebay is to risky for me to buy at $300 or more part. Craigslist but again same thing a trust factor.

What I don't get about Newegg. They posted a record a profit year in 2007, over 2 billiion. In this economy who has record profits in electronics. Ok Apple is one, Microsoft is one, Inel is another But they are steller companies. In my experience with them, they do bend over backwards to please the customer. On occasions I had a Intel processor just die, usually because the owner of the PC didn't take care it. Well my point is that when I called Intel they give a RMA number within a few minutes and a week or so I get a new processor. No questions asked! Now that is how customer serivce works.

I think Newegg has some serious issues and don't want the public to think otherwise so they post profit. Hummmm...Just like the banks are, they are not good banks. So in my opinion they are not a good company to deal with, my take.

Newegg just take it like a man! And make all those customers you screwed an honest deal to try and win them back.

They won't!

I got a x79 board that was messed up as well, I just called evga and had them replace the board. But out of ten pieces of equipment the motherboard, case and two hard drives were defective. That said Newegg went ahead and RMA the case and two hard drives. I wanted a working board so I went through EVGA to replace the board.

I have only ordered one motherboard through newegg in the past, an MSI 650i board back in 2007, and it worked just fine. I have ordered a handful of other products from newegg in the past, including power supplies, video cards, and sound cards without any products requiring an rma.

lucky u

I agree overtightening would probably not bend the particular pins in that picture. You could overtighten and bend pins, but it is usually more pins all together on a side or corner, and then it's at the point that you are also bending the socket frame too.

They can be straightened pretty easily if you take you time and be patient. Bent pins is exceptionally rare typically, and Newegg and other etailers are so difficult to deal with on returns like this because they try to return them to the manufacturer and THEY are even harder to deal with...margins are already razor thin.
