Google Nexus 7 1st Gen Refurb $140

How does the 1st gen compare with the new one that just came out?

Speaking purely on specs? The 2nd gen Nexus 7 has over the 1st gen..

- an extra 1gb ram
- front and rear cameras (the 1st gen only had front facing camera)
- wireless charging
- better sound (arguable - the speakers are still on the back, making it much louder from behind)
- dual-band wifi support (1st gen only supported 2.4ghz),
- a resolution of 1920x1080 (1280x800 on the 1st gen).

Having owned both... I don't see much difference yet. Though I don't use it for gaming, or really anything intensive. I know some folks had issues with the 1st gen slowing down over time, but I never saw that issue. Would I rush out to purchase one, if I owned a 1st gen? No, probably not.

The CPU and GPU are also more powerful (underclocked Snapdragon 600 on the 2nd-gen, vs Tegra 3 on the 1st-gen), the 2nd-gen is thinner, and the screen is better calibrated and has better contrast on the 2nd-gen.

The new one is 1920×1200, not 1080p.

used to have a nice little android tablet I got for 100ish dollars -- sold it b/c i never used it

From what I hear - BF4 is going to use some new (optional) map interface type thing, such that I can have my tablet propped up next to my monitor and it's a full on map/supplemental display.

Will wait to see how awesome/slick they integrate it into the game before I go out and blow money on something that might suck.

That sounds pretty neat...

I happen to be selling one of these brand new in the box, not a refurb, here on the for sale forum.
