I know sweetfx has been out for a while, but I never used it. I bought the Origin Humble bundle the other day, and am playing my first play through ever on Dead space 1. The game is so much fun and for a 2008 game, it looks pretty good. For a console port though, there are not a lot of tweaking the visuals in the options menu.

I found a sweetfx rar file online though, and I got to admit, it really makes the game pop. Just wondered how many of you guys actually use it for the newer games. I would assume with newer games, sweetfx is probably not needed as it is for older games with less options for customizing the graphics quality. anyway, for any of you guys who got the Humble bundle and want to try the sweetfx mod for Dead space-Get it here.

I liked it in Metro Last Light, it offset the blur from the in game AA nicely and gave a bit of vibrancy to the otherwise muted colors.

I've seen comparison shots for BF3 and ArmA3. Both were significantly improved.

I use it for The Witcher and I think it helps make the game more vibrant.

Don't use them in online multiplayer games. PunkBuster WILL flag it as an exploit and ban you, regardless of what their website tells you. Had half a dozen people in my gaming group get banned for using one of them.

So does that mean you can't even have the files in the game folder or just don't have sweetfx enabled when playing online?

I like the vibrant effect sweetfx gives deadspace 1. I actually prefer that "POP" you get from using modes like Dynamic when I watch TV/Movies on my TV, so I actually like the sweetfx feature.

Don't have it loaded period, it's still a renderer hook. If there's something like a d3d9.dll or dxgi.dll file, don't have it in your game folder -- they'll be (initially) loaded over the system versions.

Most anti-cheats probably have a whitelist of known stuff so you don't get the boot for stuff like FRAPS... or just ignore whatever isn't a known bootable offense, but probably a smart idea not to tempt fate.

No they don't lol

I think in a lot of fps games people cheat, get busted, and then try to claim sweetfx to save face.

Most of the color edits i see with Sweetfx only look nice if your monitor lacks good contrast and colors in the first place otherwise it looks ridiculously oversaturate. The sharpen filter looks nice on my ancient blury crt but on my newer lcd it's easy to see the added grain and noise to the image and looks bad.

tl,dr only use sweetfx for the AA options.

Sorry, but I don't agree. I use a Dell U3011 and the monitor color gamut/contrast is very good. Sweet fx to my eyes with the games I have played with it, drastically look better then without it.

Yeah, I tried playing around with it for a while, but never liked what it did to the picture. Some of the settings other people were posting actually made my eyes hurt after a few minutes. So now if I use it at all, it is just for the AA.

I loaded it up in ArmA3 and really liked it. ArmA3 has an "artistic direction" to lean towards realism, meaning the colors are muted and the picture seems saturated. The sweetFX really fixes that and brings some pop to the image. It also cleans it up considerably.

To be honest, it makes the graphics look so much better in this particular title. For the record, I have a high-end DELL monitor.

I've used this on two different LG IPS screens and have to say, while I like it, it does seem a bit over done.

I don't use it much anymore.

I wanted to try sweetfx on the Arma3 beta as well, but was worried about the anti-cheat/ban issue. So, when you load the map, Arma 3 does not detect anything cheat related and bans you? What sweetfx mod did you use if I could ask also? Thanks!

non-sweet fx Dishonored

sweet fx Dishonored primarily to get rid of the haziness using someone's settings I found in a forum

The usage of the word "pop" to describe graphic fidelity deeply offends me.

I used to use Dark3d on Diablo 3 for a grittier and darker feel, I believe SweetFX can replicate the same results though.

Sweetfx can be tweaked any way you want it. The only games I know that outlaw it are PS2 and ME3.
