27" QNIX QX2710 Evolution 2 impressions

Korea has the fastest broadband in the world with many leading electronic device and auto manufacturers. How are they a third world country?

I think he forgot where "gangnam style" comes from...
Americans want to be like Psy.

Hey guys, I bought and paid for the screen 3-4 days ago... The delivery estimate said from tomorrow

But eBay says they haven't even shipped it yet. Its my first time buying from eBay so I'm not sure if its normal or not... I saw some people getting screens in 5 days.

Yeah, thats the one I got too. I haven't heard anything since august 2nd though... hopefully they ship it.

They don't give a tracking number unless you pay extra for it. Its also been a weekend.

I understand about the tracking, but its 4PM tuesday in korea right now... an order I made Friday should've been shipped by now, no? The purchase history says: Not Shipped.

on the sale page it says "ship within 1 business day".... and the delivery estimate starts today, so weekend/stuff should've probably been calculated?

My first time buying with ebay, so I'm not sure if it should be like that..

Since they don't provide tracking numbers, I doubt they will update the listing to say it was shipped.

I finished up my little weekend project tonight. 3 monitors, all plastic thrown in the trash except for the buttons, mounted on my old Chief 320 that says it can't hold 27" monitors. It was a lot of fun and the results are amazing. My one "bad" monitor with backlight bleed in the top left is on the left side so I'll really never see that extra light shining out of it.

On my kitchen floor when I was trying to make sure they'd fit properly on the stand.

On the desk. Mounted too high at the moment but I don't feel like moving things around again tonight to get to those bolts...

I'd clean up the area a little more if I didn't think I was going to be moving in a couple months. I'm thinking if I have the space I'm going to try doing something with some curtains behind the monitors to create something of a theater look while also hiding cables.

Got my monitor in and finally got my cables today! :D

I was completely confused about setting up the stand until I watched some youtube vids, and during that time dragged my still plastic wrapped monitor across a carpeted surface on occasion which scared me a bit. The little electrical spark that occurred when I plugged in the power brick didn't help either.

It did work though, even if I scared myself a bit with these black blotches I saw while I had the plastic wrap on as well as a bit of dirt that had wandered onto the surface. Upon a bit of finger dabbling to remove the dirt though it seems like it's perfect, no dead pixels that I can see. :D

I do have to wonder though...with that giant 14 AWG monoprice connector, is anyone scared that a bit too much stress is being put on the DVI connector thanks to the size of that thing? Seems like a tight fit, might need more adjustment.

Edit: On second thought, a backlight bleed test with a black screenshot at night reveals moderate bleed, but a decent large splotch of it on the lower right hand corner. Pressing against corresponding part of the bezel makes that bit of the screen wriggle like something was pressed against there, so I think that part of the screen is attached to the monitor too tightly. Not sure if it bothers me that much though, only really noticed it in tests.

Over all there a great awesome buy. Whats very sad is we have to go to the 3rd world to buy it.. we can even make them that cheap here.
-- They've got the best and fastest Internet connections.
-- Korea is where Samsung is, which makes great Android phones and makes better TV's (on average) than white-label brands.
-- Korea is also where Hyundai/KIA is. They turned around from being a junk car company all the way to a reputable manufacturer. It even shows up in magazines (auto mags, Consumer Reports, etc) when comparing Consumer Reports 1980 vs 1990 vs 2000 vs 2010 that even these Korean cars have surprisingly accidentally (stealthily) become become reliable than several models of japanese/american cars. (that stat surprised me)

I'm really not sure if Korea is a third world country anymore.
That said, I agree we need more domestic manufacturing.

I got the monitor.

Lovelypeople didn't actually ship the monitor until I contacted them six days later... they do give a tracking number/update eBay.

They told me they appreciate that I waited and didn't get a refund (they offered a refund) and that it would ship that day, and it did. also that I would contact them when I receive it to get a special only for me partial refund for waiting.

Anyway, I got it today, unboxed it, the DVI-D cable that goes INTO the monitor cant actually be screwed in for some reason, it didn't fall out so far... but that shouldn't happen...

I ordered the pixel perfect, and when I booted up windows I instantly saw a stuck green pixel on the middle-ish upper right side of the screen.

It also cant Overclock to 120hz without significant artifacting (crazy lines). It does have some blacklight bleeding, not VERY excessive, but still a lot more than one would want.

The panel isn't also 100% secured, it has a little "panel play"?

Wish the stand would allow the monitor to be a little taller too.

Also, when its on low brightness the screen seems to flicker?

I'm going to return this one for sure, haven't decided if I want to chance it with another replacement. pretty disappointed.

edit: also, the box has two stickers that says OC OVERCLOCK on it, one red korean language sticker, and one english red sticker that says ZERO Zero Dead Pixel. the power plug I got was 100-240V with a wall plug adapter. When I plugged the power into the monitor I saw a yellow spark, didn't seem to damage anything though.

And for some reason I see QX2710LED instead of the colorful LED symbol in the top right bezel from what I see in the sellers ebay pictures, maybe they're changing things in it?

Do you get that flicker at low brightness even at default refresh rate?

If not: That sounds like PWM-flicker... damnit... I hope that's not the case. So far I haven't seen much indication that this monitor has this problem.

Sorry about your luck :(

it did it at 60hz

I bought from lovelypeople, and after a few days they didn't ship. I messaged them, and they said the one they pulled for me had 5+ dead pixels, so they are looking for a perfect one and asked if I wanted a refund, or to wait. Im in no rush so I said Id wait as long as its really perfect. Still waiting......

Yep, exact same story, 5 pixels, etc.

They offered me a partial refund just for waiting before I even got my screen. I'm wondering if they knew about the dead pixel.

I can't even hook up the damn DVI cable, it cannot be locked into the monitor, one of the "screws" is a little too short or something.

Kind of funny that theyre "looking for another" when they increased their page to say 5 available to 10. They just want to sell something that they dont have.

They also raised the price from 307 to 347 and now to 387. No one bought it at anything other than 307... im not actually sure how smart/good lovelypeople is.

now I got to send them a video, and repackage it. If they want to refund me 2/3rds of it so it'll be $100 ill keep it, but I doubt they'd do that.

I think i'll wait til the 4k OLED's come down to $600 with a 5 yr 100% warranty, I'm tired of doing this monitor run-around crap. and the qnix didn't "WOW" me as much as the U3011.

Finally got a tracking number. Shipped today/yesterday (the 13th their time), and is scheduled for tomorrow.

Lol sorry man but you really expect them in Korea to inspect it for dead pixels and blacklight bleed?

Yes I do. Their page says perfect pixel, zero dead pixels, etc etc.

The manufacterer put a sticker on the box claiming Zero Dead Pixels too.

backlight bleed, well, thats another issue that happens with even the expensive monitors/brands and not something I deeply care about.

But if you promise no pixel defects, it should have no pixel defects. I don't care if you're in china, zimbabwe or korea.

Agreed! Sorta - You pay a pretty decent premium for this - you should get what you pay for.

Well, I contacted them and they don't want to do anything about the unusable monitor I received. I would stay FAR away from lovely people. I wouldn't trust their 1 yr warranty. They're saying my dead pixel is not a dead pixel... And gave me some BS response . my first time using eBay... What do I do to get my money back? Call CC company? Paypal? EBay? All 3?

That really sucks.

Got mine and it literally is perfect. About to try for 96Hz+, but no dead pixels, and no backlight bleed. Cant find anything wrong with it. Blacks are really deep, white is white, gamma is almost perfect, colors are great.

Give it some time, mine did 120Hz for a couple days, then I started to notice some vertical colorful interlacing. It goes away sometimes, sometimes its pretty bad. I guess when you are at the edge of being stable, it can go both ways.

I tested up to 125Hz, havent had time for more. However, my single 670 will never go that high in games anyway, so I set it to 96Hz since it should be more stable/last longer, and doesnt degrade the gamma as much.

I ordered a Qnix QX2710 Evo 2 from Green Sum last night.... at 270, I couldn't pass up the chance to bump up above 1080p. Then I stumbled across this thread when googling for reviews. I'll be super pumped if I can OC this bad boy to 120hz. I'm currently on a 1080p Acer 120hz (which I love for the smoothness)

Hoping I got my order in soon enough for it to come early next week. Anyone who ordered from Green Sum in the past get a tracking number from him?

I received my QX2710 from lovelypeople on ebay on Wednesday. Doing a pixel test, I found no dead/stuck pixels. The box actually had a round sticker that says "zero dead pixel." I did notice some backlight bleed, but it was only noticeable when I was really trying to find it (all black screen and no lights on in the room). I probably won't be doing any overclocking on it since my video card can't push over 60fps regularly anyway. All in all, it's a beautiful monitor for around $300.

Sorry if this is off-topic, wanted a new monitor to go with my 780 Classified..this looks nice, but I wouldn't get high frames with a single 780 anyway, is there something like this, high quality IPS, cheap and overclockable to 100-120hz, at around 1080p or 1900x1200 or so?

I'm wondering if someone has some fast game play action recorded with the monitor overclocked? Like to see how well it acts in a face paced game being overclocked. I got a 144Hz QE on the way. As going from 2560 x 1440 back to 1080 may not work for me. If it doesn't work out, I would like to get one of these and try it. I guessing everyone that bought one as of this month are sill hitting 110Hz - 120Hz easily still.

Can I please get some recommendations for a video card for this monitor? It will be for general office use, no gaming. I would prefer a fan-less card, and a reliable brand, but at the minimum cost for basic internet use, office, and I sometimes watch OTA TV through a USB tuner stick.

I guess I am having trouble sorting cards that have the correct DVI port which my current card (Gigabyte HD4550 GV-R455HM-512I) does not have. Or maybe I don't totally understand what I need for this monitor?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi guys, I am a complete noob when it comes to monitors and an unfortunate mishap resulted in my last one (a 47" Toshiba 3dtv) being rendered inoperable (cracked the screen). This QNIX QX2710 looks and sounds like an excellent deal based on all of the reviews I have seen, and the information I have garnered from this forum. My only problem is the apparent lack of built in scaling that this monitor seems to have.

Now here is where my noobishness comes in.
Does no internal scaler mean that if I try to run a game at a lower resolution than this monitors native 2560x1440 that it will be cropped and will have a black border around it?
I don't know that my Rig is powerful enough to handle gaming at those resolutions and it would be a shame if playing at 1920x1080 meant I would have to be limited to a small portion of my screens real estate.

Again, I apologize if this sounds silly but I just don't know. I don't want to spend 300 dollars to find myself playing on 15 out of the 27" on my screen.

Thankyou.

There is an option in some video drivers to use centered timings so that you run the game with black letter boxes around the centered image. even if centered timinsg are nor supported for some reason, every card is capable of scaling the game to the monitor resolution just fine. but do not expect it to look good. some games never look good no matter what.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. I really don't want the black letter boxes, I want to upscale 1920x1080 (the highest res I can get decent frames at) to 2560x1440.
Would it really look that bad? Is that because of the lack of inbuilt scaling in the monitor itself?

Before my TV was broken I would often run certain games at 720p and let my television upscale them to 1080p and I thought it looked just fine. Do you think the experience would be similar with this monitor?

Couldn't I just set the QNIX QX2710's resolution to 1920x1080 in the resolution options in windows like I do with my other monitors? Or will this monitor not run at another resolution?
Thanks :)

Your video card can do the scaling. Not having an internal scaler just means that you cant hook a game console or cable box to it.

1080P will fill out the screen but look pretty crappy. 720P might work better since 2560x1440 is 1280x720x4.

I just got a bill in the mail from fedex after getting my monitor last month. Wtf is this about?

I got a bill from fedex for my Qnix that I bought 3 weeks ago..but mine was all zero'd out...didnt even understand why they sent it to me..all customs were paid. wierd.

A little update on the dead pixel on the perfect pixel monitor...

ebay says im right about this "case", that I can return it, I have to pay shipping (even though the seller's page says they pay it). and they pretty much refuse to help. all they kept telling me for hours was "you're right"

paypal is useless.

That was my first, and last purchase on ebay. I'm lucky I paid with a very good credit card company, so they'll refund me.

I also found 4 other defects, like at the bottom of the screen, the screen actually goes INTO the bezel, hiding 3-5% of the screen. and others

I hate you are having all those issues with them. And paypal doesn't even want to help. I'm guessing you showed them pictures of the monitor when you contacted them? Hopefully your credit card company will fix the problem for you. Seller is looking very bad for not wanting to hep or resolve the issue on the monitor. Thanks for the information you are providing to us.

Yes, He asked for a video, I took one.
He said he wanted pictures, I took them and linked him.

He asked to link him the pictures again and again and I kept linking him to it, eBay themselves messaged him and they say he didn't even answer them! so I guess he's just avoiding everyone. eBay kept telling me "you're right, and you won" but refused to help. I told him I'd call my credit card company to do it, he told me something about my right as a consumer, but we would close/ban your account, even though you're "right and won"

The next eBay representative I spoke to knew nothing of the guy that I spent an hour with on the phone that told me I'm right, they kept asking me to escalate it, even though I thought I did that already.

I got angry and asked them why not close his account (not that that would get me anywhere), they read me the things that have to happen in order to close it, and from what I understand they CAN by their rules/checklist close his account, they just don't want to do that, or help me.

and paypal, they don't deal with anything on eBay I guess?? or they don't if you already started a case on eBay.

Paypal were by far the rudest, they didn't care, they told me that they're transferring me to somewhere I didn't want to get transferred to, and did it anyway. just terrible all around.

really never buying anything on eBay again.

edit: just remembered. he said he would at least do a partial refund because of the whole-week delay, never did that either.
