The crew at AusGamers have posted a rather entertaining interview with the folks from Gearbox Software. Here's one of the many questions that are asked and answered in the interview:

AusGamers: Did you have most of the DLC story stuff mapped out before you actually approached it, or...

Anthony: God no; not even close. No, it came time to do DLC, and we were like “Ok, what do we want to do? Err, pirates maybe? ...and maybe like biker gangs mixed with wrestling, and then a big game hunt, and then tabletop I guess? But even that makes it sound like we planned them all at once; we didn’t. It was just “Oh crap, time to work on a new thing! What? Err, unicorns; I don’t know!” and then we’d just make the DLC [laughs].

Bullcrap...no way you can get the initial game released then remember to do DLC afterwards. That would be a logistical nightmare to try and get something done in a timely matter from scratch before the game faded into irrelevance.

They never said DLC outright was not planned in the beginning, just that the STORIES were not planned. Seriously, RTFA...

Actually, this is why the Borderlands games don't appeal to me,despite the fact that I love open world FPS games. There's really no real effort to create an imaginative story to draw you into the world,in the end it's all just run around, kill a lot of enemies, and collect a lot of guns. When games like this aren't done right, they get boring very quickly.

Tiny Tina's was great and have to laugh at your comment, why you hate this game is exactly why i love it.

Exactly. Different strokes for different folks.

I love Mass Effect (ending controversy aside)--deep storyline, very "alive" for a videogame.

I also love Borderlands. Blow heads off. Find bigger head-removing device. Engage in sociopathic, sometimes-immature humor. Also fun.

"Blow heads off"

Not in Borderlands 2 mate, gotta make sure this game is the same for all markets, cause extra work is for morons! =3

Normally, I would completely agree with you....except for BL2. I have had a blast with the seasons pass DLC, and especially Tiny Tina's expansion (and the pirate one too was a blast to play).

190 hours in... still playing like day 1, DLC included. Haha. The game has a pulse or something. :)

Borderlands 2 was a bigger improvement then Borderlands 1. The environments don't look like 1 big giant junkyard/dump. The enemies are more diverse, and change often. Borderlands 1 felt like the art team did a 180 and took a more cartoon turn when they were half way through the a game that originally had a serious side. This time the game is just very cartoony, so it doesn't feel half ass.

Though the changes do nothing to improve the gun drops. Just so many stupid useless guns drop in this game. Great for those who like instant gratification, but so dumb.
