Losing your phone or having your phone stolen can be a pain and in many cases, costly. Google has released the Android Device Manager to help you remotely locate if stolen, clear your data, or remotely ring your phone for locating when you misplace it.

The feature works similarly to other locator services, like Lookout and Samsung's Find My Mobile, but now you get the feature natively on your Android device.

Isn't Android Lost way more powerful and been here for ages?

Let me guess, you have to have locations services and communication with the mothership turned on at all times for this to work. No remote activation.

you do and thats part of the limitations... I have energy saving features turned-on to cut radio when the phone is idle so this device manager just doesn't work

A proprietary backdoor into my system? What could go wrong?

Thanks, Google, but I think I'll stick with my Tasker profiles.

You only need to have your phone to be able to locate your phone! Genius!
