OH FFS, please remove the image tags at least when you quote somebody. make it less cluttered with repeat images

What desk is this?

wumbo - I got some PMs about the desk so I'll just copy-paste the answer

It's a Biomorph XO2 CR: http://www.biomorphdesk.com/products...djustable-desk

I went to the biomorph showroom in Manhattan and bought it there, but obviously you can order it on their website.

A word of caution: they didn't actually have this particular desk on display, and it turned out, when I assembled it, that I didn't like the keyboard tray that much - I don't think it would withstand an accidental strong load, and the hinge transmits a lot of vibrations to the desk itself. I have to type lightly else my monitor starts vibrating a bit (it's mounted on an arm). Also the keyboard tray interferes with computer chair armrests when both are set at the "correct" height - I ended up lowering the armrests out of the way and just having the proper 90 degree bend in my elbows.

I think the level3: http://www.biomorphdesk.com/level3 would be a better desk -- note that the keyboard surface is actually attached to the desk legs, not hanging on a hinge. But it costs twice as much as the already expensive XO2 CR...

Overall I wouldn't say I am terribly impressed with the desk for the money I paid TBH. For $500 it would be fine but for over $1000 when you account for tax and delivery it's not a great value. But I had a terrible desk before and had back and wrist pain, which is now gone -- so perhaps it wasn't such a bad purchase. Still, for my next ergonomic desk I'm entertaining the idea of DIY.

There are other options out there except biomorph. It's just they either didn't have showrooms in NYC or they could not arrange a showroom visit when I was researching ergo desks -- so biomorph actually were the only ones I could see/touch live.

Hope this helps.

Primary development workstation:
I5-3570K
32GB RAM
256GB OCZ Vertex 4
EVGA GTX 670 (drives the Dell U3011)
EVGA GTX 640 (drives the Dell 2007FP displays)
Sound Blaster Z connected to (old) Yamaha RX-V2500 which in turns drives a pair of B&W DM601 S2's and a pair of Paradigm Titans plus a Paradigm PDR-8

Gaming / Video Editing Box (Horribly out of date):
I7 870
16GB RAM
256GB OCZ Vertex 4 boot + 2x300GB 15K SAS in Raid-0 for videos and games
EVGA GTX 670 drives an older Benq 24" display
Logitech Z5300 via SB X-Fi
Logitech G19 Keyboard + Mionix Naos 5000 and Saitek X52 Flight system

On a side note. I do regret getting the U3011. That thing is a space heater.

BThunderW, you might want to edit out that telephone number on your whiteboard.

Been a few years since I've posted here. Moved to a new studio apartment and bought new display, headphones and active speakers. I'm planning on buying a new black desk, but haven't found a sturdy enough one yet..

Anyways, here's the pictures. :D

Love that desk. Where did you get it?

From a Finnish furniture store.. :D Did cost only about 130$ though, and weighs atleast 90 pounds. Basically you could stand on the table without any problems. I haven't found a similar desk in black anywhere..

And thanks for the comments, I like to keep my place tidy.

I wish my place was that clean, I keep it clean but not anything like that! Good job man, and the setup looks great.

Love the case dude!! Very clean job.

Thanks! I love the room this thing gives you...and also the fact that you don't see too many of them around. I'm also about to pick up a fully sleeved PSU kit. Should tidy up those PCI-E cables.

Wow, thanks for the detailed response. It's a bit out of my [soon to be ending] intern salary price range though...

I hope I'm allowed to ask this here. I've been browsing this thread and you guys all have such amazing set ups. I'm just wondering what some of you do for a living to be able to afford this stuff?

I personally sell my body.

...

Just kidding.

Initial costs were kinda high when I started out from scratch, but most of the items you upgrade can be resold. You might buy a GPU once a year or so. When did Sandy Bridge come out -- that was like 2 years ago, right? If you bought one of those, you didn't have to upgrade from it. If you buy and resell, you're not spending a lot once you're over the first build.

You don't really need to make a ton of cash every year to afford enthusiast parts and if you do make a decent wage, have no kids, even with bills and debt, let's say you make 50K per year, you can afford to build something spectacular.
