Senators Want Permanent Ban on Internet Access Tax

A bill introduced this week in the Senate would permanently ban taxes specific to the Internet. A temporary Internet-only tax ban was created in 1998 and extended of three separate occasions. The latest tax ban extension is due to expire in November, this bill would make the ban permanent.

The legislation does not ban taxes, such as sales taxes, that can be levied on the Internet if they can also be levied on offline activities.

Ahhh, A ban on "internet only" taxes. That's good.

However, since I pay sales tax at amazon I'd love for everyone to SUFFER LIKE I DO. SUFFFEEEERRRRRRRR. I hate you. :)
 
This sounds like a step in the right direction, but it doesn't change my opinion of the Senate being a bunch of fucking idiots.
 
Alot of Senators that voted for a couple stupid Bills are up for re-election. Time to make voters happy for 3-4 months and back to the same BS.
 
What would be the purpose of taxing internet access? You generally tax something because you need to generate revenue to support it and last I checked it was private businesses providing internet services. Oh, I see, the government would need to tax the internet to support its internet monitoring services.
 
Taxing the internet must have come from Ca or NY. I cant fathom of any other origin.

I'll see your CA or NY and raise you an IL. Our taxes aren't quite as high but the state taxes literally anything that moves (figuratively and literally).

That horrible state again. They should have just left the US and done their own thing. We don't need all those ranches and cows now that we can make burgers from soybeans. They're a huge liability and increase the risk of heart attacks. :(

Try the whole lot of Executive, legislative, and the judicial branches and all of their departmental minions. The whole lot of government is filled with idiots and getting worse.

Just wait until the legislative fools implement per step sidewalk usage taxes. It's gonna happen.

I can't wait until I become a bureaucrat and can triple the internet taxes of all the terrorists in this thread who dared to verbally oppose the coming of our glorious tax utopia.
