Yes I do like those IPs. As far as the controller thats a personal preference of comfort nothing about the technology in it.

I know what you meant. I personally have no problem but I've read many reviewers saying it much improved. Adam Sessler (Rev3games) even said he preferred the 360 over PS3 controller but doesn't see this being a factor in next gen. I simply felt good.

For me, it might be a deal breaker. My thumbs have a very sharp curve to them, and actually point back 90 degrees backwards. I can't rest the tip of my thumb on the top of the stick, I have to use a part of my thum about a quarter to a half an inch down from the tip. Because of this shape, the location of the analog sticks on a Dual Shock controller are very awkward, and my thumbs bump into each other a lot. I'm not too keen on any controller having an analog stick down so low on the controller either, but the Xbox 360 controller never made me feel like I was reaching too far, unless I'm making a lot of left turns.

...Which suddenly makes sense why I don't like F1 or Daytona games.

First off im going to get both. Likely the X360 first however.

I buy consoles for their party / local multiplayer games, and an improved Kinect could be incredibly fun. It'll be at least a year after launch dates before i get either however.

Will I be getting the PS4 or XB1? There are many things to consider:

1) Price - While the $100 price difference between the two consoles is steep, you have to consider the fact that the PS4 does not come with the PSEYE, a $60 accessory. Given the lack of support for the EYE, I doubt it will have any amazing functionaly to boot. Another point to consider is that the subscription cost for both online services is ~$50/year. I am aware that PS4 owners are not required to buy a Playstation Plus subscription. These are just some topics to take into consideration.

2) Exclusive Titles - Being a long time XBox fan, I am a bit biased in this category. I've probably played Fable 13 times through, and many of my weekends have been spent LAN-ing 8gb xboxes to play Halo. That being said, in this latest console iteration, I have not been able to enjoy the great Playstation exclusives, i.e. Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, etc...

3) Kinect/Eye - As I've noted above, I doubt the Playstation Eye will have much support whatsoever from the Playstation community of gamers and, in turn, developers. What I do expect to blow me away, though, is the Kinect 2. I know I may have lost many of you with that last sentence, but hear me out. I own the current version of Kinect and let me tell you, it does not impress. For the most part, I have to be standing, and the response time is sluggish. With updated angles/sensors (read: I can now use sitting on my couch) and movement tracking algorithms, I expect the Kinect 2 to far outperform the Kinect 1, not to mention the fact that it will be more seamlessly intertwined with the entire XBox experience. My only concern with the Kinect is my privacy, but that will be in the hands of a very large corporation... what could go wrong? Lolz

4) Hardware - There are a few points I'd like to make with respect to the reported hardware in the new systems. First of all, how are they selling these machines so cheap? They have to be losing money, yet people are still complaining about the price points. Secondly, wtf Microsoft? Why don't I have access to the hard drive? Hopefully 500gb is enough space to store the mandatory game installs........ Also, from looking at the specs and memory architecture, it seems that Playstation is gearing more for graphics processing, while Microsoft wants better multitasking experience. The difference in graphics will be minimal given the respective system's specs, but I look at it from this way: if I want beautiful graphics, I'll game on my PC. I'd rather have the multitasking ability the XB1 is touting, which leads me to my next point.

5) Media - I'm sorry if you've been reading this and getting the gist that I'm biased towards Microsoft. To be honest, I kind of am, but I am also very open-minded and willing to look at all of my options. The HDMI pass-through looks pretty cool. I can't wait to bark, "Watch Comedy Central!" and wait as my electronic slave guides my voice through the electronic nether to produce immediate results without my lazy behind having to even pick up a remote control. Playstation is coming to the table with a gaming platform, whereas Microsoft is marketing as an all-in-one entertainment package. If Microsoft can come through with seamless Kinect integration (and WMC capabilities), this topic may be j*** worthy. Time will tell. All I can say is that Kinect looked damn good at the XB1 release and E3.

If only for WMC and Fable/Halo, I may get an XB1, but I'll be waiting a while post-launch to buy. Let 'em fix the inevitable RROD issues first. Hell, I'll be out of school by that time. Maybe I'll be able to get both.

Haven't read the whole thread - just the OP. I voted no, and none of the things the OP mentions matter one bit to me. Personal preference I suppose.

All I want out of a console is awesome games that are at my fingertips whenever, and however I want to play them. You can have all my monies for that one thing alone.

I don't watch TV and I don't listen to current pop music so I don't want to be bombarded with such advertisements when I boot the machine; I'm getting a PS4. Microsoft is targeting a demographic that's half my age so their platform is currently not for me.

since my tv box and gaming systems are switched thru my receiver having the xbox duplicate the switching function is useless and the xbox won't work with every cable system, certainly not the one I use thru the local phone co. I don't play fantasy football the NFL functions are meaningless. I don't like the Kinect. Game wise PS4 first party games will be superior graphics wise in the long one, dual platform system games will be very similar, maybe a little better due to better graphics processing on PS$ MS can turn its DRM back on at any time its just a software change the DRM restrictions are in place already. PS4 never had the DRM in place. The Xbox will still have the DRM until it is patched after release.. Like this gen Sony will have the most exclusives due to their superior SW studio relations. I have both preordered but the Xbox is going to be a present for my MS brainwashed nephew.. Silly boy is hooked on Xbox.

There won't be DRM at launch, and if they launch without DRM, then they can't just "turn it back on". That would require there to either be 2 types of games, some integrated to require an entire install and some not requiring it, or it would all be limited to a console update, because effective DRM is not possible without internet access.

Seriously, this whole "Microsoft talked about it before, they may do it again!" talk is getting pretty annoying. By comparison, Sony has actually been guilty of installing rootkits onto people's computers through music CDs and other B.S. practices. Going to tell them to screw off too?

Not only did they install rootkits on people's hardware, and lost a class action lawsuit because of it, but earlier this year it came out they applied for a patent to have DRM built right into their game disks, using RFID tags. I keep seeing people say the Kinect is going to be used to limit movie viewing, if too many people are in the room, because there's a patent for it. I don't see those same people concerned, at all, about RFID tags in their copies of PS4 games.

That's true too. Sony does hold that patent.

Yes because that is to prevent piracy blank bd disk no RFID copy fail hell they could even make it so the copy functions as a demo disc . but RFID is not secure enough to rely on like this I see pirates making disc or stickers with blank tags and copying the RFID. RFID are also easy to erase...

The whole kinect watching you watch movies ruins movie night.

What demographic do you think Sony's trying to appeal to?
People that don't care about all of the extra bullshit. That's probably not actually their goal but Sony is offering more of a gaming-centered machine. If Microsoft would just allow the dashboard to be customized so that unwanted tiles and sections could be removed, that would be great, but they won't allow that because advertisers wouldn't like that.

I voted no, but I don't trust either company. They both done some shady stuff over the years. So at the very least its a wait and see for me with this generation!

the camera for the PS34 is far different than the PS Eye, it works with controllers and I believe first party games incorporate it . It will recognize individual controllers by the light on the controller I think it functions much like the Move does, but it is not mandatory to use it, I'll be getting one , its only 60 bucks.

I don't put a lot of faith in either company at this point, but I am leaning towards the Xbox One. Truth be told though none of the launch games for me are a must have. The ones I would get like NFS: Rivals I can get on the PC.

I have never been a big Sony fan especially of their controllers so the new controller will be interesting to check out.

On launch day the only PS4 exclusive game I would get is Killzone and I have a feeling since I both suck at and hate playing FPS with controllers I will regret it 5 minutes in.

For the Xbox One, Forza would be an option though not a big track racing fan. NFS, Blur, and Burnout are more my gamestyle. Kinect Sports Rivals since if I am forced to have the Kinect I at least want one game designed for it. Then there is Dead Rising 3. I was never a huge fan of the first two but I like the idea of the game.

In the end unless I end up blowing some giftcards on the console I will probably just wait or skip this generation like I did the last one.

Titanfall is the reason I am buying a PS4... why?

Because it confirms the same trend as this generation. Most "Console" exclusives that appear for 360 also make their way to PC. PS3 exclusives do not.

So PS4/PC looks like the best combination to maximize the amount of good games available without owning both consoles.

P.S. Full disclaimer, probably going to buy an xbox one at some point the same way I bought a 360 on a whim. They just aren't that expensive.

Did I miss something? Titanfall isn't coming to PS4

Sir... you are still missing the point.

If your point is the whole"exclusive" who cares. The only ones who care are the ones that can't really afford their hobby to it's fullest.

Sorry but your post is a little cryptic in your actual meaning maybe it's your wording.

Ok, you're having a very hard time reading the post. So let me take the part about Titanfall out so maybe you can stop focusing on that one game... Here you go.

No I got the exclusive part I just don't get why people make a big deal about them.

Game were your friends game and the way you want.

I don't see why the op would need a forum full of mostly PC elitists to tell him which console he should play.

Buy what looks good to you hell if you can buy them all , that's what I do and enjoy.

Every new system has something fun and unique to offer even the Wii U and PS Vita.

I still don't think you understand his post. If you do, then your response doesn't make any sense.

I got it best combo ps4/PC exclusive aren't really exclusives blah blah I got it it just is a really trivial thing. Again just buy what works for you everybody has different tastes I never get why if you don't go one way or the other then there's something wrong with you it's just stupid.

BTW my post that you say didn't make sense was more of a statement of opinion rather than trying to rebuttal his post I don't tend to agree or disagree since I game on literally damn near everything.

Nope the reversals have not changed my mind in the slightest I will not buy any console when I have a far superior PC.

Op here... you don't understand at all what the person you're reponding to is saying. If you want the largest amount of different games then you should go with the combination of a PS4 and a PC. It's not a trivial thing to HIM... maybe you enjoy owning multiple consoles with the same games and/or able to afford them. He's not saying that there is something wrong with you, he is only making a correct broad statement saying that if you have two consoles where one of the consoles' exclusive titles comes out on PC and you already have a PC then it wouldn't make any sense to buy that console. That's all.

Besides, I don't care about that at all... my only point was by starting this thread was that the Xbox One's launch exclusives interest me more than the PS4's launch titles and especially since Microsoft reversed their DRM policies. I'm still getting the PS4 though b/c it's cheaper and it's launch window games look better. Titanfall looks really good too but it's coming out on PC as well so I won't buy a Xbox One afterall just to play Dead Rising 3 which would be my main reason to consider the One. Hopefully Dead Rising 3 comes out on PS4 later which Dead Rising 2 eventually came out on PS3 so it's at least not a system exclusive franchise.

Ding Ding Ding :D

As it stands today the Xbone launch exclusives are no where near as interesting to me as the PS4 ones. The only ones they have are Forza, Ryse, Dead Rising 3, and Killer Instinct. None of those with the slight exception for Dead Rising 3 appeal to me.

Killzone and Infamous definately have my attention. Add in future titles from Naughty Dog (Uncharted, Last of Us) and Sony Santa Monica (God of War) and I think the PS4 just looks like a safer bet.

Like I said before, I'll probably end up with a Xbox One at some point, probably around the time Halo 5 or something else exclusive that's worthwhile comes out.

No.

I have a 360 that I never use, and even when I did I was rather annoyed having to pay for XBL Gold for MP, and even to use simple stuff like Netflix and YouTube. XBL is nice in a lot of ways, but hardly worth it IMHO. Everyone here at work has PS3 and will end up with PS4, so if I do get a console this time around it will definitely be PS.

EDIT: And I thread necro'd...stupid search feature!

The PS4 is going to spank the Xbox's ass, period. If the PS3 vs Xbox 360 didn't teach you anything and you still buy the Xbox One over the PS4, you're a special kind of stupid.

I get that you're a man of the people now and want to buy all the consoles to maximize fun, but not all of us think like that, especially not this generation (we'll leave the brand propaganda out of this, we've all had enough...).

It also does, unfortunately, come to down to cost for the majority of folk, even if they're on [H].

If your point is the whole"exclusive" who cares. The only ones who care are the ones that can't really afford their hobby to it's fullest.

Also I'm not sure I agree with this sentiment. I guess I have to admit I can't afford my hobby to the fullest (auto racing), in that I can't constantly keep plowing down on stage upgrades for my (already at) $75K track car. What I'm getting at is that we all should care...care about which company is screwing us the least to be exact. Every little bit helps.

Not trying to get on your bad side, I respect your posts on the forum very much. :)

My games of choice are single player with lots of story and unique games. This is exactly what drew me to the PS3 after owning both the Xbox and 360, and games like Heavy Rain, Journey, LBP made it totally worth it. I have a years worth of PS+ which will work with PS4 with no extra cost and give me more free games.

MS is focusing on their traditional shooter crowd. I hope Sony continues to invest in their 1st party studios. They also support more indies. It's a pretty clear choice for me!
