I currently use a GTX 280 on a Dell 22" LCD at 1680x1050. I was looking at an asus 660 for $168 after rebates and coupons. I am also considering the MSI 760 for $249 after rebate. My CPU is an I5 2400, with 4GB ram. The 660 is a steal a that price, but some people say spend the extra cash and get the 760. i want to play metro last light mainly and future-proof my system somewhat. My 280 is getting old.

Thanks for the help.

Spend the extra money & get the GTX 760, it will last you longer & you'll be much happier in the long run. It sounds like you keep video cards for awhile, so you might as well get something current.

I agree with james21. Your will be very happy with the extra horsepower.

Ill sell you my 280 then you can sli them! :D

I would agree to spend the extra cash for the 760!

Recently upgraded my 5 years of solid use GTX 260 to the GTX 660 and I have to say, WOW. It was the best $200 purchase I've made in a long time. Card will easily last me another 5 years at 1080p gaming as I'm not one that needs incredible FPS with everything super maxed out.

You should do fine with a 660, but you'll be a little better off with the 760 which is really just a re-packaged 660 Ti. The difference between the 660 > 660 Ti was a joke to justify the extra $100, but with the 760's release tag lowering that difference by $50 it should definitely be considered. Its a small price to pay for the extra umph. Especially considering the 760 > 770 is a $150 jump and from the 770 > 780 its a $250 jump. The numbers add up. I'd go 760 if you can afford it. Both will do you solid but the 760 will provide the extra overclocking ability that the 660 does not.

[EDIT]

Just realized the deal you can get. If you can afford two and SLI them it'll slap a 760 left and right for slightly more money. Then again SLI can bring its own complexities, but you should consider buying two not just one at that price. Tough choice. You can't go wrong, that's my final answer.

I agree with the purchase of a gtx 760. This way you can have a good upgrade to a single card. most sli setups have alot of headaches and have to wait for a new sli enhancement patch with a new driver.

If you plan on upgrading to a 1080p screen in the next year or 2, then get the 760 for sure!
At your resolution you won't actually need a 760. That being said, next years games might be a different story.

Always get the best card you can afford. It will last longer, and therefore cost you less in the long run
